Sometimes I wish ths apostles would talk as boldly as they did back then. Everyone gets too offended today. But truth is so beautiful to the righteous and this is such a powerful message.

Your comment offended me! Lol, just joking. I agree, I like how they used to talk, back in the day.

I have had this thought every time I watch talks given in the past! They weren’t afraid to speak boldly; sometimes I wish they would do that today, but your comment about people taking offense so easily rings true to me. We have become so darn sensitive today. It’s sad.

I never realized what a blessing it has been to have been born into the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and have such loving parents until my teenage years now. I’m so happy that Christ’s gospel has blessed your life. Thank for your words, they really helped me remember how blessed I really am even when I think I might not be.

My greatest admiration of Adam is in his life patterned after Christ. Just as Christ came down to save his bride (us) from certain and eternal destruction, Adam left the garden to save his bride eve from eternal destruction as a result of her decision to be disobedient. Adam is a type of Christ.

Adam is Michael the Ark Angel, next in authority to Jesus Christ, the third person mentioned in the creation of the Earth. Adam was the first man and remains in charge of the spirits of all men. Remains an Angel, the chief of the angels, and will take active part until the final completion of the activities of the Earth. Of course Adam is not God the Father, nor is he Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.

Look at the wide shots. Off to either side of the pulpit, a couple of feet in front of it, are two glass squares held up on black metal poles about the thickness of mic stands, those are the teleprompter screens screens.

D&C 129:1-3 1 THERE are two kinds of beings in heaven, namely: Angels, who are resurrected personages, having bodies of flesh and bones- 2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 3 Secondly: the spirits of just men ... Acts 23:8,9 ... neither angel, nor spirit: ... 9... We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel... The distinction between the two, spirits and [resurrected beings] angels has been around at least since Biblical times. Hence, was Michael an arch-spirit or an archangel?
@later45243 жыл бұрын
I think archangel is also a title; one that is given to the first mortal man on this earth. I think it is important to note that D&C's definition of an angel was given AFTER Christ's resurrection, because Christ was to be the first fruits of resurrection (or as restated in 1Cor 15:20 - "... now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept."). After the resurrection of Christ, Adam became an angel matching the description found in D&C.
@zon36653 жыл бұрын
According to Petersen Michael would have been an Arch-Spirit not an Archangel. Petersen doesn't address the doctrine that Michael taking on the title of Adam was immortal prior to partaking of the fruit which brought death or mortality.
@zon36653 жыл бұрын
Also the Pearl of Great Price teaches that being created of the dust of the earth is by the birth process; which entails mortality (Moses 6:59). Since Michael was immortal prior to taking on the title Adam he must of been born elsewhere not upon this earth. That is scriptural and not "theory." If Michael was born on another earth and was resurrected to become immortal, and had the privilege of creating an earth (our earth) he must be a God. Again thats scriptural not "theory." Christ taught in John 5:21 that His Father has power over death. It is clear that Petersen is ignoring a lot of scripture in his primary level discourse on Adam.

So, if the man Adam was already Michael the Archangel prior to being placed on this earth, when did he, previously, pass through his mortal probation, and receive a glorified, resurrected body, and all of the powers of a chief angel? I understand that Elder Pettersen is combatting Adam-God in this address, but the second he said that Jesus was already God Jehovah, and Adam was already the chief angel, it was check mate.
@jaysonboutron39573 жыл бұрын
Richard Redick ummm.....nope. Adam is/was the ArchAngel Michael before the earth was created and even helped Jesus (Jehovah) create the earth - it was called the Pre-Existence. We all existed as spirits before coming to earth. When it was done...(the earth), then Michael's spirit was put into a body and he became Adam. After he died he probably was resurrected when Christ (Jehovah) broke the bands of death and was resurrected, along with other choice spirits up to that point in human history.
@zon36653 жыл бұрын
@@jaysonboutron3957 I think you are missing the point Jayson. D&C section 129 states that Angels are resurrected beings. Michael in taking on the title of an Adam was immortal prior to partaking the fruit. Immortal beings are resurrected beings.
@FromAgonyToLight Жыл бұрын
@@zon3665 You can't be resurrected without dying first. Disobeying God by partaking of the forbidden fruit did cause spiritual death, and eventual physical death, but Adam and Eve were not resurrected yet.

So evolution isn’t true?
@scottrappleye35604 жыл бұрын
No. It is not.
@yellowyosh4704 жыл бұрын
You'll have to study and figure that out for yourself between you and God. I think the concept of evolution is correct, all living organisms adapt to their environment and evolve. Maybe God used evolution to create Adam and Eve, since to him the concept of time is much much different then our perception of time on earth. I personally feel that these principles of Adam being the first human can be true, and the concept of evolution can be accepted at the same time. That's my personal opinion, but I respect any one else's. In the end of it all, we will understand and know everything. To be honest I don't think it matters too much though, I think how we live our lives and what we do matters more then knowing how something happened billions of years ago.

The church has no stance, nor does it need to take one. As far as I'm concerned the science seems pretty dang solid that it's true. And I am perfectly comfortable in my faith, while also accepting solid scientific evidence

Who would reject a gift of God because of the package it’s wrapped in? So did the Jews reject the Savior because of his outward expression which was offensive to them at the time.
@michaelpetersen23696 жыл бұрын
You really have it all reflected in a different light. You turn every one into victims of a god that only understands obedience. Christ is a language of love, far different from the god of the old testimant. What happened to the unchanging god every one is suppose to believe in?

Obedience is the First Law of Heaven.
@anadlm90285 жыл бұрын
Obedience is an act of Love towards a God, A Father who wants to keep us from suffering the consequences of our sins. He loves us more than we could ever understand. That even when we sin because of our lack of understanding, we can be forgiven through repentance and the blood of Christ. The key is to understand humility because we understand His power over death, both physical and spiritual death.
@Motlatsi4 жыл бұрын
Sorry you feel that way Michael. Have you come of your own to see and start your own spiritual quest about this church?

Sorry Petersen Joseph Smith and Brigham Young are not false teachers. Shame on you for saying so.
@darrisellis8810 Жыл бұрын
You don't understand the context in which Brigham and Joseph spoke. Adam can also be a title like Elias or Messiah. Any Man who was the first of all men on a sphere like ours is called Adam. The first woman is always called Eve. It is likely that Our Father in Heaven during His mortal probation was the first of HIS FATHERS sons to start the process of humanity on his earth. Thus in this way the title Adam can be another name for many, many other exalted beings who served in such capacities. In this respect all three testimonies of these three men are in perfect Harmony with one another.

Joseph Smith and Brigham Young although great and wonderful men they were prone to make mistakes. They're not perfect they're not The Master Teacher who is Jesus Christ. Brigham Young caught that Adam is God the Adam God theory which is false. Just because Prophets are Prophets doesn't mean they're always prophesying. They have their own understandings and their own views on the world.
