Well John, what can one say, another pro job and boy she sounds awesome. I got tingles! Took me back to when I first heard mine after the uprated work. Definately the best sounding car out there, said that for some time now. With this system in place, the noise, for want of a better word!, deservedly matches the car and what a machine these Jags really are and so deserve to breath easier and unlease that unmissable monumental growl. Very pleased for you, good drive needed now, weather permitting of course, take care. 😊

@@ToTheGarage Greetings John! Great informative video- most excellent! I recently bought a mint 1997 Antigua blue XK8, it's believed to be THE car that Jaguar used at the 1997 Earls Court Motor Show. It came with a Stage 1 Adamesh system. Needless to say, as a diehard petrolhead, I'm contemplating installing the Stage 2 kit. Bearing in mind that the standard system is so restrictive, did you notice any performance improvement from fitting the Stage 2 system Mark? I'm assuming that throttle response is slightly better now- less back pressure. I've heard claims that the combined Stage 1 & 2 system releases up to 15-20 Bhp. Have you noticed any improvement post fitting your exhaust? Many thanks! :)

Just wondering if I will like that noise coming from my jag or not. Maybe I m too old school despite my age (40) ;-)

@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
A slightly larger oval than that fitted to my earlier car was fitted to some later XK8's but never this style or size. (quad pipes on some XKR's too) If its welded on and open on the forward facing end, then it is probably a later O.E. back box. If its the same as mine then (12.5 cm the width across the oval) the someone has possibly fitted the better after market tips to the standard system

On the subject of ‘ringing the bell’ on YT...I had the bell set to get all of your videos in my notifications box...but tonight after watching a couple of other videos in my notifications box, I scrolled through the ‘home’ page and saw you had released a new video.... so watched it...at the end you reminded viewers to ‘hit the bell’, and though hhmmmm...odd I didn’t get a notification, so exited YT and then went back in...as sometimes doing this then brings up notifications issued whilst watching something else...and nothing....nada... so run your video again, as it was in front of me on the screen...checked the bell...and noticed that it was NOT RUNG...now I didn’t do that...so what happened...does YT do this...it’s not the first time this has happened either...it’s happened with several other channels I watch over a period of about 6 months or so...!! Any ideas... I have a weird relationship with any form of insurance. (which in effect is what extended warranties are) If you pay it and don't need it,. You Lose. If you Pay it and need it but its not covered, You lose. If you pay it and you need it and it is covered then you win! except you have to remember to deduct your initial stake (I mean Fee) from your winnings. So You always lose unless they payout more than twice the fee🤔 And how does a part fail by coming to an UNATURAL end of life.

What about the torque loss due to „less resistance“ in the exhaust system? I heard also some people saying the Fuel consumption raised also for around 1 liter 🧐
@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
If gas velocity is significantly reduced then the Scavenging effect can be lost which can reduce Torque at very Low revs. However we have gone up in bore size only 5 to 8mm in the main. Plus the Cats are the most restrictive element of his cars system anyway. (The Hammered flat pipes aside) So yes its possible that between 650 and 1500 Rpm we have lost a few foot pounds of Torque. However the engine and box will only utilise that range if you are launching the car from a standing start. And only then for the first second or so. Fuel consumption can go the wrong way if you utilise the extra horse power and increased pick up then you can use more fuel. If you drive it exactly as you did previously then there is no way it will use more fuel. The same or less in fact as the engine effort to produce the same power is now reduced.👍

Excellent ! I’m curious to know how much hp do you save doing that modification, even knowing that it is not your first objective. I’ve done a dyno test to my XKR, it have an Arden exhaust line (an equivalent to the Adamesh stage 2, without the stage 1) and the result has just surprised me ... 398 hp (instead of the original 375 hp with stock exhaust) with absolutely no other modification !
@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
I Know! Its amazing how much those crushed overall pipes affect the HP. My previous XK8 gained 18Hp at the wheels following a Stage 2 only install (I already had stage 1 on before the first Dyno run.) XKR's are obviously going to feel the restriction more as they are capable of pumping more gasses down the pipes in the first place. But as you say Hp was not my goal, It was always the sound and the quicker pick up. So I won't be doing any Dyno tests with Purdey

Hi, Can I ask a quick question about the adamesh exhaust, I have been reading comments saying performance is actually down on standard exhaust, and it looses a lot of back pressure causing loss of low end torque any comments to help me decide I'm doing the right thing please and if stage 1 is worth it or best to get stage 2, thanks I know nothing about it.
@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
Technically the gas velocity through the Stage 2 (over axle pipe) will be lower on the adamesh which may reduce torque at revs just above idle. This may marginally reduce scavenging effects and result in a fractionally less dense intake charge. However the gain to be had as revs pick up in terms of increased ability to flow gas and generate BHP will more than compensate. So in summary. 0-15mph may suffer but 15-155 will improve. Im very aware of the science Alan, but im not equipped to test the effect, so please take all of the above with a pinch of salt. I fitted mine primarily for the oral improvement. Im personally happy that the overall package now has less compromises in it.

Hi John, I was watching another channel where the guy had a jaguar, I can’t remember the model it was an early model. He reckoned the car was leaking into his diaphragm and he bought a bottle of something to add to his car and that should help repair the fault. It seemed to work for him but I was alarmed that his exhaust was blowing white smoke out of the exhaust, I have bought a second hand jaguar xf and I notice my car does this when waiting at crossings. Is there anything to be worried about. Regards. Francis. Jablonski.
@ToTheGarage Жыл бұрын
Hi Francis Is yours a V8 XF? When you say diaphragm. I think im struggling with your choice or words? Do you mean head gasket? There is a diaphram in the brake servo and some would say there are diaphrams in the Fuel pump Thermostat Cruise control system. But I dont think you meant any of them. White smoke normally means steam. Its common for quite a lot to be emitted on colder days until the engine and exhaust are fully warm. It can be a sign of a blown head gasket or very rarely a split/cracked head. If its a petrol turbo or a diesel then their are other possibilities too.
