Dont worry its not that hard, or you could just ask a follower to do it for you (pretty sure people would be ok with that). You just share the content with the developper and he does the app. Then he can give it to you to send to the store.

I just tried this, i'm a new freediving wannabe, I did 33 secs on the first, then 1 minute 30 secs on the 2 last ones. I don't feel any muscles contractions but i feel really uncomfortable after 1:30. Feels like my lungs are getting toxic, like an itching inside.

Hi., i used to spearfishing before and i can only hold my breath for only 20-40s under water, but when i'd try the technique that you said., In 1st try 1:43s 2nd try 1:45s 3rd try 1:50s only. I will also try this to catch more fish here in the Philippines., Thanks and keep sharing more videos ✌

actually the reason you can hold your breath longer after a few consecutive breath holds is because of the respiratory quotient going up from an average of 0.7 to a maximum of 1. RQ = Vol CO2 released/Vol O2 absorbed. The body which burns fat and protein shifts to glucose for pure efficiency, as shown in this formula: C6H12O6 + 6 O2 → 6 CO2+ 6 H2O. In other words, RQ= 6 CO2/ 6 O2=1 when the body burns glucose. Pure carbohydrate transforms into glucose so bananas can be a good thing to eat before doing breath holds.

Did this last year and was terrible but.. after a year I can post some decent times. 1st time was 1:38. 2nd time was 2:05. 3rd I stopped at first contraction by mistake at 1:07, but 4th time I got to 2:02. Also, after 10 years of smoking cigarettes last year I quit to dive, because my breathe hold underwater was 0:45 30ft max, if I was lucky.. now its more 1:40 times and so far 60ft max dive (: PB: 2:38

2:01 3:01 3:04 I have passed 5 minutes 6 seconds doing the Wim Hof method. Is there any reason the Hof method would be dangerous for free diving?
@semiformal7428
@semiformal7428 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is dangerous. You are depleting the levels of CO2 in your body by hyperventilating. This can cause a shallow water blackout because you won’t feel the urge to breathe (contractions) before going unconscious. This greatly increases the risk of drowning.
@monstersaint
@monstersaint 4 жыл бұрын
Yup. Shallow water blackout danger is high.

I live in Puerto Rico the water its almost always 80 degrees and I am 13 year old going to 14 in the 13 of september. I already reached 40 feet deep and I can hold mi breath for 1 minute and 40 seconds; isi't good for my age?. Can I keep going deeper and holding my breath longer?

Definitely impressive for your age but you really shouldn't go any deeper for now and definitely find someone experienced to train with.....at 14 your heart and lungs aren't fully developed so it's best not to stress them by going too deep ;)

Breath 1: 1.45 Breath 2: 2.15 Breath 3: 3.00 Thanks for all the videos Adam, you are excellent. I'd appreciate your comment on my following question. I do CO2 table training from time to time. My contractions start around 1,45-2,00 minutes. After the contractions, it become very difficult for me to continue holding my breath. I wonder when does this mammalian dive reflex is kicking in and extend my holding time further. My target is 4.00-5.00 minutes best time. What would you recommend for me. Thanks again...

I have been working on my static breath holds. I have experienced spasms before, but now I am getting much more comfortable and am getting a strong urge to breathe but am not getting contractions. Should I limit my max dive depth (presently 35 feet) until I start to get strong spasms in my training? I am presently at 2 minute and 10 second breath hold. I have been freediving for about a month, but life gets in the way so I have not been training as much as I should have. It takes me about 30 to 40 seconds round trip for a depth of 35 feet.

Thanks for the advice, Adam - and I love all the effort you put into your videos and responding to your audience! I don't yet have a dive buddy to do wet training and plan on taking a free diving course in the future, when I get the opportunity. So what dry training would you recommend I do in place of the days I'm not doing the tables? I currently also do dry dynamic walks, multiple reps with an Expand-A-Lung breathing exerciser as well as use it to decrease my O2 intake while doing cardio long-boarding and land-paddling.

Jeremy Wallace well whether this was meant to be responded to by Adam or not I'll have a go haha. I would recommend maybe trying do to some interval training to try and aim to improve your lactic acid systems as in freediving you are working anaerobically. It will also generally help you in using lactate for energy and also replaying your oxygen debt when u get back to the surface and while you are going through your recovery breaths. Hope this helps. If you found that abit of a mouthfull im sorry, A-Level PE has caused that 😭😭

Hi Adam ! I have two questions about these table : Should i, at any point in my progress, change the breathing period or should it always be the same (descending from 1:30 to 30 sec? And for 02 tables, do you recommend the same system (starting at 50% of max breath hold and holding 10 secs more)? Thank you !

I started a Freediving course two months ago, age 44. Never ever did any kind of diving before. Hardly some swimming lessons. Anyway, during the first static breath hold attempt of my life I did 4:40. Last week I did my second attempt. A surprising 5:03. Which is strange considering I totally suck at dynamic, haha (I mean, sometimes it's hard to do a simple 25m in swimming pool)! I never felt any contractions, more like a strong tension in my lung/throat area. I thought static was just a mental thing and that all you could do physically was expand your lung capacity. Didn't know about the getting your body used to CO2. I'll try these exercises. Thanks!

1 1.45 2 2.35 3 4.40 My PB is 5.15, but it works really unstable. Sometimes I just cannot relax psychologically, and switch to 'fighting mode' enduring the breathold instead of 'letting it be'. This is true for DYN as well as for the STA. So far I'm 1.5 years in freediving, and this remains a huge block for me😢😢😢 also, sometimes I feel like I surely can swim 200 dyn & do sta for like 6 minutes, and sometimes I fail my competition dives bc the panic button switches in my brain and I end it at 75m😂

Im a little late for it now lol .. but if you can, please enlighten me in this.. i do spearfishing, and once an instructor was telling me about hyperventilation (which i knew already and never did) and not to do it. To always rest double the amount of time i spent at the bottom.. that if i do consecutive dives with very short breaks between, that the brain "cant tell" the amounts of oxygen and CO2 in the body and it doesnt give that urge to breathe. The contractions dont happen, and that if your apnea is of 5 minutes, you will look at the clock and see 7.30 and feel completely fine without the urge to breathe.. this leads to blackouts underwater.. that you kinda described as the mammal reflex which i experience every time im in the water .. my question is, can the mammalian dive reflex also make you feel comfortable until the point of blackout? or it will only make the contractions kick in later? I also heard other divers that prefer the contractions to kick in sooner.. gives them a more reliable dive and longer bottom time waiting for fish than if the contractions come later... whats your opinion on that??

The contractions are just your brain saying you need to breathe, not saying you are about to faint. But still, as mentioned on the video, don't practice in the water alone.Out of the water, as mentioned on the video, if you faint, you'll just wake up shortly after.

question here, I'm a scuba diver and my best free diving opportunities are during surface intervals between dives...I know the theory on scuba resting times. but will some minutes of free diving interfere with my resting times if I'm not wearing a tank, what's the effect of nitrogen on my body?
@AdamFreediver
@AdamFreediver 6 жыл бұрын
What you're describing will almost certainly lead to DCS. If you have nitrogen in your body from a scuba dive the rapid compression and decompression from freedives has huge effects. You can freedive before scuba diving but once you scuba dived then no more freediving for the day :)

Adam mate, I'm so confused.. There's so many videos from you related to breath holds, that I don't know based on which video to train. I loved 4 min static table; I also trained with this video. However, I'm still confused on the warm ups and which table to use after specific warm up. So far I've trained CO2 and this is very easy (comfortable?) for me, I have no problem training it. I would love to have a training session video from you, where you go straight on the point with warm up times then what table to use, when training either CO2 or O2. I like to train 2 times a week, but I still don't understand how to practice O2, so that kind of video would really help. Thanks infront, you're a very cool guy. Greeting from Montenegro/Finland
@AdamFreediver
@AdamFreediver 7 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy :) the issue with this topic is that training your body for breath holding is not simple and you can't just train C02 or train 02 in such a simple way. Each table to good for different things. Sometimes warm ups are good. Sometimes they aren't good. The best all round table that exists is the 4 minute table that I describe. The tables in this video are just different examples of training that you can do

Hey fellow freedivers of the world, question for ya. I have trouble equalizing on occasion and often have to push air into my drums and swallow in order to get a pop on the way down. Sometimes only in one ear thus compromising my dive. Anyone else have their own magic way to do it because that’s all I got so far and I can’t get past about 30-40 feet before I am unable to equalize. Also Adam you have taught me a lot about breathing in the 45 minutes I’ve spent on your channel. I didn’t think I could get past 1:30 but after listening to you I held for 2:45 on my first hold and I’m blown away.

I’m brand new to free diving… but I’ve learned to hold nose and pop BEFORE it hurts. Popping 4 times just to get to 20fow. Also equalizing my mask with very small breathe out threw my nose 2-3x. I could be way off but this helps me…

Shallow water blackout occurs At any depth. , when the blood O2. Is anoxia quantum. . Always find a dive buddy partner to skin dive with : or scuba with. . Your partner should be trained how to rescue you.

1 try : 1m15s 2 try : 1m24s 3 try : 1m29s I clearly sucks at holding my breath ^^ when i took a full breath, i feel like, my lungs are compressing my heart, so i have to free some air. by the way the exercise is a cool way to feel better after a hard session of dev jobs :)

I don't know how you can go through contractions because I had 1 at about 2.mins 40 and it was like a huge vomit response..and I had to breathe..

i was experiencing this feeling i have not felt before, where my entire body felt this strange tinging. it was not uncomfortable in the sense that i was recieving contractions, but I felt like jumping around right after i breathed in (from hodling my breathe). Is this feeling one of the ways my body is signlaling the feeling of co2 build up? Should I practice mroe with the time charts to grow more accustome to it? BTW these feelings where happening before contractions and i couldnt comfortably get to the contraction stage. LMK!

Can you tell if bodybuilding training effects breath hold time? I am an amateur powerlifter. I started breath holding for fun during the lockdown and eventually reached 06:10 but when I restarted weight training my breath hold time decreased. Now I can hold my breath for 04:40.

definitely helps but try not to push with breath holds....you'll find that you can do huge breath holds without pushing and it leads to even bigger breath holds in the future.....but in saying that....dude! nice work!

If you train your mind and body to suppress and ignore the early and later warnings of need of oxygen, how will you know you're not passing the true limit , when you'll be unable to make it safely back to the surface?
@AdamFreediver
@AdamFreediver 7 жыл бұрын
The true limit is very far away and this is why everyone should take a freediving course so that they can work personally with an instructor.....but really you must endure a lot of discomfort to black out

Thanks for the great tips and entertainment. You are fun to watch. I have really slacked off on my breath holding and had to dive to retrieve our laptop which I hope the gods liked. But the panic of losing all our footage and diving under docks made it really hard to stay calm and search. While the laptop is in a rice bath I figure now would be a good time to improve my breath hold and focus underwater.

If I'm doing static holds like this I can seem to get around the 3 min and occasionally up to 4 min after a couple cycles. But as soon as I'm in the water and trying to dive. it drops down to around 1 min. Any thoughts why this such a huge difference?
@AdamFreediver
@AdamFreediver 7 жыл бұрын
Your body adapts to what you train it to do. so if you're not diving enough then you wont be as comfortable at depth than you will be on the surface :) but a 1 minute dive time is pretty good ;)

1. 1:11 2. 1:53 3. 1:36 I’ve tried a static breath hold in the past and only managed 30 seconds but after watching your breathe up and final breath videos this was the result! Only problem is that I keep stopping my hold before I feel any contractions. I can’t seem to hold it long enough and on the last one I felt nauseous. But I’m super excited to keep practicing 😊

Hello yedi master! You mentioned on the commentary for wch that you got an inflammation when you started with breath holds, I think I got it after a few weeks of training (only every third day) but I don't feel like I have stressed it out so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. 1. 1:30 2. 1.45 3. 1:54 is my "best" but now I can't relax because of pain and so on so I guess I need to pause. Thank you so much for all the amazing videos, you are great!
