I saw you installed a Red speedometer gear into your transmission. Make sure you match the right speedo gear to the radio in your diff. Otherwise your speedometer going to be reading wrong. Great job with the build! YELLOW is the 16 tooth for the 3.36 BLACK is the 17 tooth for the 3.54 BLUE is the 18 tooth for the 3.70 WHITE is the 19 tooth for the 3.90 RED is the 20 tooth for the 4.11 PURPLE is the 21 tooth for the 4.38

Layne White youre right, theirs 2 wires that go to the injector and if tbey're touching it sends a signal to keep the injector open it could be other wires too but that could be the main problem witb that harness. Its just time consuming to chace that problem in a engine harness. How i know this cause my fc did the same to me and it wasnt a fun time

@TheChrisey
@TheChrisey 6 жыл бұрын
It's really easy to find out weither it's the injector or the ECU at fault. All you do is measure the pulses on each connector from the ECU. Preferrably an oscilloscope. But if you don't know anyone who's got one, then use a voltage meter with LEDs, or a single LED with a resistor. Turn it over and make sure the LED is flickering, not constantly lighting. This would have been great to measure as soon as it happened. It could also be a short somewhere. The injectors are driven by a negative pulse, and therefore the injectors will always have a constant positive. This is more prone to shorting out and then keeping the injector open since it could easily short out to ground and suddenly you have a constant ground and constant positive. Try also feeling each injector if any of them give out any significant heat. When an injector is fed with a constant power it will heat up pretty quickly and eventually the coil will burn out and kill the injector.

What a load of crap John Strong. Totally misinformed statement. We use them every day at the place I work without any idle issues? (like what tuner blames the ecu for an idle issue...?) I’m not trying to be snarking, I realize it was a joke, but turbo blankets are actually supposed to keep your turbo warm. :) It’s kind of a round about way of saying it, but they mitigate heat soak by keeping the heat in the turbo so it will go out the exhaust rather than heating up other components in your bay. Engineering Explained just did a video the other day actually of you wanna see some numbers.

You installed the intake cam wrong... There's 36 teeth, so every tooth is equal to 10 degrees of your camshaft rotation. You should redo the chain so that your timing is at zero with 1 tooth advance, so your dead center where you need to be and can adjust from there if you need to later on.

Yep, PowerFC is more than adequate for this car. This isn't a 1200hp build, it's a straightforward setup. C'mon folks it's a simple standalone with straightforward map setups. If you can't get the car to be reliable on that then Haltech/AEM/etc isn't going to matter.

Check the injector wires against ground. It could just be one that's shorting out. One side gets constant power and the other gets a pulsed ground signal. if that signal wire is shorted to ground the injector will stay open. Really weird to see an ECU fail that way so I want to say it's the harness. Good luck!

That engine coolant hose that Alberto used for the turbo oil drain is not rated for that application. It’s going to burst or melt, you lose all the oil on track and get rod knock... Use the correct hose.

Tyler - except for fanbois, nobody but NOBODY wants to listen to 25 minutes of boring rants about nothing. The title says "SR20DET RUNS! Then nearly destroys itself..." so that should describe what the video contains. It's not actually that hard to comprehend, surely?

Alberto on my previous S14 in place of the 3 bolt after down pipe, we soldered a good quality flexible joint, and it release a lot of vibration to the exhaust manifold, you might consider that.
