All these Super Mechanics that keep commenting blaming Alberto stating you should BUY BUY BUY are only there to troll. It is your car your money Alberto is a competent Mechanic you are learning loads from him and others about a car that takes one hell of a lot of abuse every time you drift, the way you noticed the tick from the lifter and stripped it and fixed it is admirable. The car onced tuned sounded fantastic and the speed of the rev increase is well fast and you are right the sound is RX7.

Dual shims is literally just 2 shims with the slots in them instead of one flat one and one slotted one. Bit late now, but you know now incase rocker arms keep popping off. RAS reduce the chance of rockers popping off but when they do it makes more of a mess, because the rocker arms get jammed between the RAS and the cam. Snaps them and damages the cam. Experienced both with and without at 400hp and definitely found it better without 👍🏻

Elboost The struggle and the mental pains when doing big jobs like this takes you on a rollercoaster ride for sure. Add lack of sleep to that and you have that moment when you can start act like your 10 year old. I seen it many times and all you can do is sleep or have friends that stand tall. A interesting side note i also noticed: Good mechanics can swear or be silent, but never react like somebody "less experienced", always keeping a cool head. The car world have its own psychological frustrations is what im trying to say here i guess. I been on that frustration train my self and man its hard 😊

@sw966 жыл бұрын
RedShiftJellyfish No offense but bragging that your engine has survived 3 years of use as a daily + spirited driving + 3 track days in a year isn't much of a benchmark. By that standard my 13BT is a unicorn, engine is original from 1990, just over 150,000km on the clock (low for it's age I know). In the 10 years I've owned it it was my daily for 4 years and averaged 12-15 track day events a year for the last 8 years and the motor still runs healthy, it's everything else that's wearing out at this point :D

Hydraulic lifters are part of the sr rocker arm problem, with solid lifters properly adjusted there is less chance of having excessive clearance (lifter not doing their job perfectly). Rocker arm stoppers are also not worth while, its usually better to let the rocker move around then get wedged between the cam or other moving parts doing more damage. Otherwise, new set up sounds sick man! Looking forward to next drifting vids!

“You don’t get power from aftermarket ECU” (paraphrased) That’s extremely false. Most old style aftermarket ECU’s are only 16 bit processors. The factory ECU in your car would’ve been an 8 bit processor. 98% of high-end stand-alone ecu’s are 32 bit processors. To the average joe that just sounds like mumbo jumbo. But when your ECU can handle a much broader, and FINER map than the old style, and it processes input/outputs TWICE, sometimes FOUR TIMES, as fast as the current ECU, you gain more power. There are guys picking up over 100hp going from a standard 16 bit ECU to 32 bit ECU’s.
@itscaptainterry6 жыл бұрын
Chuckie25 But Adam "just wants to drive the car". He just wants to drivethe car, so he doesn't finally put a normal engine (that is not an sr20 and actually makes good power without breaking), he won't put in a good transmission and he won't get an aftermarket cpu...

I doubt you will see this but i'm sure the threads in you RAD are 1/8 NPT. Most of the time you can just go a bit deeper with a pipe tap since it has the taper on it. Then use thread tape. Make sure to only use 2 wraps on the tape or it will just bunch up and not do its job. Or use some LOKTITE 545 it is a thread sealant that does a great job and will not hurt a cooling system. Also you can weld a bung on there if you can find a aluminum nipple that is the right size which shouldn't be hard at all.
