Thanks for your question Nick-apologies for the slightly delayed reply. The GT1 Evo should be more than big enough for your height. It’s 135cm in length and, as you can see from the video (2:02), I have the pedal deck uprights and the seat rails set three inches from the edges. Additionally, I have the seat set quite far forward on the seat rails-so there’s plenty of scope to extend the leg length. The base frame is very strong, so weight should not be an issue. However, you may need to opt for a larger seat like the Sim Lab SPEED1 XL. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build. Hope that helps mate. 👍

@ADAPTNetwork10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question Spartan. While the GT1 Evo can handle high-torque direct drive wheels, I would actually recommend the new GT1 Pro ( adaptnet.work/GT1Pro ). I'm currently reviewing this rig, so stay posted for that. But, in summary, the GT1 Pro utilises bespoke alloy plates, to join pieces of profile, and the base profile is pre-machined, so that it bolts together directly. This all results in a stronger overall build. Additionally, it comes with hardwre to mount motion servo systems. Hope that helps. 👍

Thanks for your comment Dan. I have had a similar issue with the plastic corner bracket covers; they sometimes fall off when I slide the rig around the room. To fix this, I secured the covers with small pieces of black electrical insulating tape. If you don't mind the tape showing, you could also use duct tape. It's not the most elegant solution, but it does the job. Hope that helps. 👍

I have another question. From the video the GT1 wheelbase uprights looks really short compared to the P1-X’s wheelbase uprights? Is it sufficient enough in height relative to one’s torso lined up to the wheelbase while in seat?
@ADAPTNetwork2 жыл бұрын
No worries VRR-I'm glad I can help. I think the wheel mount uprights are plenty tall enough. They measure 58cm (66cm if you include the base) and you can fine tune your wheel position by adjusting the angle of the wheel plate. In this video, I use the Thrustmaster TX wheel base. The wheel plate is positioned quite high because it needs to be angled downward for correct wheel positioning. However, I'm currently running the Fanatec CSL DD wheel base, which is positioned a few inches lower and angled upright. Does that make sense?

I haven‘t tried the NLR GTtrack, but from what I can see from the specs it looks to be quite adjustable. A bit off topic. How do you like this 34 curved screen for racing?
@ADAPTNetwork3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question ZiK. The Acer Predator X34 works brilliantly for sim racing. A single monitor is a lot easier to set up and run than a triple screen setup. The 21:9 aspect ratio also provides a decent field of view and the 100Hz refresh rate (latest model now has 120Hz), is more than enough for sim racing. In the near future though, I’m looking to upgrade to a 49″ super ultrawide, for a larger field of view. So, if space and budget isn’t an issue, I would recommend going with a 32:9 aspect ratio monitor. Else, something like the Acer Predator X34 will still work really well. Hope that helps. 👍

Hey dude, I'm looking into this for a Drifting rig, how would you mount both a handbrake as well as a shifter at the same time?
@ADAPTNetwork3 жыл бұрын
Great question Oren. You‘ll need to use two shifter and handbrake mounting brackets (one for the shifter and one for the handbrake). These are available from Sim-Lab, or you can fabricate your own. You might get away with mounting the handbrake directly behind the shifter on the side mount that comes with the GT1 Evo. However, depending on your equipment, it might be worth purchasing an extra mounting point from Sim-Lab, or some extra aluminium profile, to strengthen the side mount, or if you wanted to mount the handbrake and shifter side-by-side. Hope that helps mate. 👍

It’s 135cm in length and, as you can see from the video ( 2:02), I have the pedal deck uprights and the seat rails set three inches from the edges. Additionally, I have the seat set quite far forward on the seat rails-so there’s plenty of scope to extend the leg length. For reference, I'm about 5ft 9.5 inches (176.5cm) and average build. 2. If you buy the rig from Digital Motorsports ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ), then economy shipping to most European countries currently costs €115.74. If you buy direct from Sim-Lab, I think it‘s currently €122.42. 3. I haven’t tried the Sparco R100, but it looks to have similar dimensions to the SPEED1 (which I have). The Sparco R100 is more of a sport seat with recline function, whereas the SPEED1 is a fixed bucket seat with high bolster for extra support. I found the SPEED1 to be very comfortable, but if you‘re above average build I think you may find the Sparco R100 a little roomier. Otherwise, it just comes down to personal preference. Hope that helps. 👍

I was considering the rig but 1. having to damage corner brackets for it to work really comes across as a half baked design. Couldn’t the company have customised them for you? 2. The list of hardware that is confirmed compatible doesn’t include multiple new popular products and they can’t confirm if it will work. They should keep this info up to date.
@ADAPTNetwork Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment WVS and sorry for the late reply. Sim Lab's style is to put together aluminium profile kits using off-the-shelf components and some custom pieces. I think this helps balance ease-of-build and price for the user. Both the wheel and pedal plates are pre-drilled to fit a wide range of hardware, so it will work with most wheels and pedals even if it's not listed on the website. To be safe though, I'd recommend sending Sim Lab a quick email if you have a specific wheel and/or pedal set in mind. If you're looking for a fully customised aluminium rig out-of-the-box, I'd recommend the Next Level Racing GT Elite: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mau7iYGsha-Uhqs

Great review! Really job well done! Ordered mine last Friday. My only complaint with the purchase process was the seat. I did not want to spend +300 euro on a Sparco seat and it seems that their cheapest seat that their website says is available for European customers is not available for orders to Ireland. On top of that there is wide variety of choice on car parts websites and since this rig is designed to fit any car seat I ended up ordering OPM seat here in Ireland while saving 100 Euro in comparison to what SimLab offers on their site. So piece of advice for anyone who is tighter on their budget, you can get seats cheaper elsewhere! You can even go to car scrapyard and pick up something there...I would probably do it but with lockdown in full swing...that wasn't an option haha. How long did you wait for the rig arrival since you placed the order?

Thanks for your support Kamil-I really appreciate it. 👍 Splitting up the rig and seat ordering process does have it’s pros and cons, like you say. Overall though, I think it works well and means that people can pick a seat that fits their budget and requirements. The adaptability of the GT1 Evo means that you can use pretty much any car seat that you want. One of my sim racing friends also has this rig and is using an old car seat. Like you mentioned, it’s a great way to get started on a tight budget. Let me know how you get on with your OMP seat. Which specific seat model did you go for in the end? My rig was delivered last year and there was a few week delay due to the backlog at the time. However, I think Sim-Lab has recently opened a second production facility in Germany, which has helped to reduce backlogs moving forward.

@@ADAPTNetwork They dispatched it today. So impressive speed considering I ordered it last Friday. Fanatec on the other hand took a week to dispatch load cell pedal for my CSL pedals. haha This is the OMP seat I ended up with www.murraymotorsport.com/trs-x-steel-frame-seat I'm not sure what I am more excited about: DD1 wheel base that I ordered or the SimLabs rig. For the last 2 years I've been using Playseat challenge with my CSL elite wheel and I'm really starting to feel it in my back and neck. Playseat chalenge is extremally handy for tight spaces since you can fold the whole rig and hide it behind the couch, but there are compromises in comfort especially over longer driving sessions. On top of that...it's basically modified fishing chair haha. It is not the sturdiest thing. Over time it developed a lot of flex which I fixed to some extent with home made solutions...Before that I drove with my wheel attached to the ironing board :D So this will be my first super sturdy rig. I'm expecting huuuuge comfort and quality of life upgrade from it.

Thanks for your comment TopSelections. While you could probably source the aluminium profile slightly cheaper, the advantage of purchasing a kit like this is that everything comes pre-cut (with soft edges) to fit together perfectly. All of the hardware to assemble the rig is also included, along with some spares, and the bespoke wheel and pedal decks make it a lot easier to mount your equipment and fine-tune your driving position. Currently, you can pick up the GT1 Evo from Digital Motorsports for about £330 (VAT included) ( adaptnet.work/GT1Evo ). At this price, I think the GT1 Evo is a great deal-especially, when compared to some other alumnium profile rigs like the new Next Level Racing F-GT Elite. You do have to purchase a seat separately, but this is also the case with most other aluminium profile cockpits. The great thing is that this rig will support almost any car seat you like, so you can start with a really cheap second hand one and upgrade down the line.
