Float fishing for steelhead is probably one of the most effective techniques for catching both resident river trout or steelhead in rivers, streams, and creeks around the world. Float fishing is an easy technique to learn, and with time on the water it's a fairly easy task to master! Float fishing for steelhead consists of your rod, reel, 30-50 pound braided line, 10-20 lb fluorocarbon or mono leader, your float of choice and last but not least, the offering to the steelhead! You can use bait, jigs, beads, blades, and more under a float to entice trout and steelhead to bite! In this video Marlin is going to cover how to set up a fixed float fishing setup and exactly how to get out on the water and use this float fishing technique. Jordan is going to cover a sliding float fishing setup. Both these steelhead techniques are insanely deadly on the river, and in our opinion every angler should have these tactics on the river with them every time they go fishing. If you want to learn more about float fishing for salmon, trout, and steelhead check the videos below. Thanks for watching everyone!

Love the addicted floats! been using them exclusively for summers down here in southern Oregon. However, Wish they held up a little better. Crack, chip, and split with the quickness. I still use em but you definitely start losing buoyancy once that balsa starts absorbing water.

Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for all the tutorials. You are all extremely talented and passionate and especially, respectful of nature. Not to mention, good presenters and speakers. Some speak too much, but thats ok. We can live with it ; D ...... ie.: giving tips not to leave bits of line around etc... I learn from you on a weekly basis. Keep it up. 2020 wasn't what any of us imagined, but whatever you’re doing, whoever you’re doing it with, happy holidays and tight lines. If it wasn't for this COVID, I probably wouldn't be ADDICTED! So there you go. Good things come to those who know where to look to look for, and you guys help me become better at it. I will take the liberty and speak for all 2020 steelhead noobs. Here’s to 2021. Cheers. PS: My first catch was a steelhead at the beginning of this summer and it was an immediate addiction. Since then I've caught all salmonoids possible in the Chicago lakefront. Struggling this winter. Nevertheless, excited for what's to come. Nuff said. Just super grateful for what you and the brand are doing. Peace

Great work gentleman! My hat is off to you for your professionalism and expertise! Great job managing the information in this and excellent on the water demonstrating! So many times I see young guys make these videos and everything is "holy @!!! dude, you see the size of the F----in' fish?!" That's just as disrespectful as it gets - to the art form and to the animals they're bragging about dominating. It's clear both of you care about the craft, and you maintain civility, respect and high standards of professionalism throughout. Well done!

New to this and love the vids. Have you guys considered using the Shimano Baitrunner reels for this. I have used them for years and when you are drifting simply engage the baitrunner , rotate the handle until you get slight resistance and allow the float to pull line off and if needed manually help it. If you get bit the handle is in position to turn without slack and engage the drag.

Here in the northeast Ohio area most bodies of water we are fishing are relatively small and we use almost strictly fixed floats. The only spot I've used slips are this spot where it's about a hundred yard, deep concrete wall we drift and in certain spots you've got brush and fallen tree branches hanging over the hole and casting a more compact rig makes it much easier. Also people seem to strictly use shot and different shot patterns. However I'm sure there are times that inline sinker would have it's day. I'm gonna start trying to better slow down my drift in some spots with faster water. Also, rarely are we using a particularly heavy rig, so flouro or mono mainline are preferred. Ive been running braid but I don't like how it casts light rigs. Only way I've gotten away with it is because of the relatively small streams and rivers we fish
