He also did all of the sound for WALL-E and many other movies, including the Indiana Jones films. He is responsible for how lightsabers sound, how TIE fighters roar, the sound of blasters, the sound of wookiees. Lucas worked side by side with him on many things, but only because he knew and trusted in Burtt's abilities. Together they came up with how R2D2 should sound - which was not an easy process. Okay, now that you are in the Prequel Trilogy, I can share a fun factoid. The two trilogies have a family connection in the casts of the films. In the Original Trilogy, the character of Wedge Antilles, an X-wing pilot that helps destroy both Death Stars was played by Denis Lawson. Lawson's nephew saw him in the films as a kid, and grew up to be a more famous actor and was cast as Obi-Wan Kenobi...Ewan McGregor. Star Wars is really a family story and a family business. Another family connection that is fun, even if you can't ever really see her on screen...George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola (director of 'The Godfather'films) are long time friends and collaborators. Francis produced George's film 'American Graffiti'. George cast Francis's daughter, Sofia Coppola as one of the handmaidens. Sofia would later become a successful writer-director in her own right ('Lost In Translation', 'Marie Antoinette', and 'The Virgin Suicides'). I eagerly await the next reaction, Addie! The Rule of Two was set in place by Darth Bane after the Sith's near annihilation by the Jedi in a way 1000 years ago, so that the Sith could survive to exact revenge upon the Jedi by using stealth, secret plots, and subterfuge to gain power, rather than risk another open military engagement they would likely lose. The Jedi assumed the Sith were all wiped out in the aftermath of that battle, which is also why it's known as a Phantom menace: How can the enemy be a Sith if they were all supposedly destroyed a millennia ago? :P

You're the second reactor I've seen that caught on the fact that Padmé was the queen, and that the other one was a decoy. The decoy, believe it or not, was played by Keira Knightley, and I gotta say, that was a clever move by the queen. About the changes, the Podrace scene wasn't as long as you saw. It was originally cut for pacing because they wanted to get through it sooner, I think, but was restored on the DVD release. As for Yoda, they originally used a puppet. When this film was re-released in theaters (in 3D), they replaced the puppet with a CG model. Now, the fight choreography in the lightsaber battle against Darth Maul was REALLY cool, especially due to the fact that Ray Park portrayed Maul. Park usually does his own choreography, and it showed here. They had auditioned many different kid actors for Anakin in this film, including Haley Joel Osment, but Jake Lloyd's delivery of his lines was the best, so they cast him. Sadly, many years later, he got in trouble with the law, and was in a mental institution (diagnosed as schizophrenic). I think he was recently let out, but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, may the Force guide him back on the right path. Jar Jar was a very controversial character, so much so, that George Lucas decided to reduce the character's role in the next two films.

most of the shields in Star wars are energy or velocity based, so if you move slow enough, you can get inside,

Yes, the Naboo city is beautiful, but this is not the first time you’ve seen it. Since you watched the Remastered version of Return of the Jedi beforehand, you saw scenes of the Naboo (and Coruscant and Bespin Cloud City) celebrating the Emperor’s death and the Empire’s fall mixed-in with the original fireworks sky and victory party on the the Ewok Village on Endor.

You're very observant which I've liked in the previous reactions too, so many who don't have subtitles on miss Obi-Wan's name in the very beginning! It IS a fun little sci-fi adventure, but it for sure wasn't what the old fans (myself included) had been waiting for when it was released! I remember leaving the theatre SO ANNOYED at how it had become a "children's movie" as I recall myself putting it! :D And imagine how those guys must've grumbled who thought Ewoks in Episode VI were already too kid-oriented content! After years have passes I've mellowed out and can actually already enjoy the prequels, but I still question the execution (and necessity, to be honest - I preferred the mystery and using my own imagination to think about Vader's past and the Clone Wars). Glad you enjoyed this though, and I'm sure you're going have quite the ride in the next films.

Darth Maul, one of the most nuanced and complex villains Star Wars has ever produced. If you want to know more of his story watch clone wars and rebels when you’re done with the films.

About the costumes Lucas said "They gonna (the audience) kill me, I've made Star Wars a fashion show..." Addie, you are one of the few who actually noticed QUi Gon used the Force on Boss Nass to obtain the submarine... Nobody usually does. The littl Rodian (green guy with insect like eyes) is actually Greedo, the guy that Han kills in Ep4 in the bar... The braid is indeed a symbol of Padawanhood.
@ruarikelsey17932 жыл бұрын
That isn’t Greedo, it’s a different Rodian. Vader meets him and Kittster as adults in the new comics. Greedo appears as a child in one of the deleted scenes of this film, Anakin gets in a fight with him and Qui-Gonn breaks it up.

Like Addie said about villains falling down pits. Apparently they have some kind of safety mechanism that is never explained but we see the results after the Disney purchase.

Back story: the master of Quigonn Jin was a man named Count Dooku, who was convinced that the Sith still existed and would attack them again. Because of this, he obsessively trained in dueling techniques. The other Jedi basically thought he was nuts and dangerously obsessed with violence and killing. This is in part why Quigonn butts heads with the Jedi council and is a bit of a rebel. Obi-Wan is in turn a bit unorthodox, which has various consequences when Anakin becomes his apprentice. "Always two, there are." Yoda is referring to the Rule of Two. Thousands of years ago, there were as many Sith as there were Jedi, but every time the Sith gained the upper hand, they were done in by constant infighting because all of them crave power. A Sith Lord started the Rule of Two to minimize the infighting. But if doesn't eliminate the infighting. Every Sith apprentice becomes a master by killing his or her own master. If the master wins that fight, they go looking for another apprentice.

Did that cockpit have a booster seat, and why was there a child sized helmet?
If you like the design of the ship they used to escape, you should check out the SR71 videos. Its where they got the inspiration for it. The SR71 Blackbird is also the fastest plane in the military.

The "Double" of the Queen is Keira Knightley it was one of her first Movies
It's called the Phantom Menace because the Darth Sidious was the real threat, not the Trade Federation. Episode II is a huge step down in quality but is somewhat salvaged by the 3rd act thanks to Christopher Lee's charisma and an epic battle. Then Revenge of the Sith will provide you with all the entertainment and emotion worthy of Star Wars.
@jeffburnham66112 жыл бұрын
I would say Attack of the Clones was a bit slower then Phantom Menace, but that's only because there were so many elements that had to come together in one movie. Attack of the Clones could easily have been broken in two parts since half of the film dealt with the Clones themselves, and the other half laying the foundation for Anakin's troubles later as a Jedi.
@mikejankowski63212 жыл бұрын
@@jeffburnham6611 Possibly, but they could not break it in two because they already did that to Darth Maul.

Well, even though Darth Maul got cut in half, he's still alive. We see more of him in the TV shows "The Clone Wars" and "Rebels" and he also makes a cameo in "Solo: A Star Wars Story". The Clone Wars and Rebels made him one of the best characters in Star Wars history and you have you watch those shows
