SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) is a fictional organization featured in the James Bond novels by Ian Fleming, as well as the films and video games based on those novels. Led by criminal mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the international organization first formally appeared in the novel Thunderball (1961) and in the film Dr. No (1962).

Thanks for your react, Addie. My absolute favorite Bond movie of all time and by far my favorite with Craig. The plot, the villain, pacing, scale, action, music, even the opening credits are all top notch. Sam Mendes is a great director, and Léa Seydoux is just an ornament to any movie. And yes: this could be a great finale to Craig's entire series. I still think that they shouldn't have make "No Time To Die" after such a laconic ending.

SPECTRE was co-created by Ian Fleming and Kevin McClory in 1960 during their failed attempt to make the first Bond movie on their own. Because McClory sued Fleming in 1961, the future Bond producers (Broccoli & Saltzman) didn't have full rights to use SPECTRE by name after 1967. And they stopped using the character Blofeld after 1971.

SPECTRE stands for SPecial Executive for Counter-Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. This was the BIG organization Bond fought in the Sean Connery and George Lazenby films. In fact, Ernst Stavro Blofeld appeared in the "Blofeld Trilogy", played by three different actors...Donald Pleasance (You Only Live Twice), Telly Savalas (On Her Majesty's Secret Service), and Charles Gray (Diamonds Are Forever)...and all of them pale next to Christoph Waltz as Blofeld.

Both Lea Seydoux and Christophe Waltz return in No Time To Die (2021). You are absolutely correct in that it is Daniel Craig's final Bond film. The next Bond film after NTTD hasn't even been started on yet. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson made a statement in 2022 with regards the next Bond actor and movie. In it they said that work would not really begin for at least 2 years and that was sometime in mid-2022. Broccoli said that there are no names in the frame as to who will replace Daniel Craig, and that they would have to sit down and discuss what sort of direction they wanted to take the franchise in before drawing up a list of suitable candidates to take on the role of 007. So, I think that we can safely assume that there will be no real information to be had on who the next 007 will be or anything about the next film in the Bond film franchise before summer 2024 at the earliest. Broccoli has also gone on to say that the next Bond movie will not be until at least 2025 or even 2026 but there should be a film before the end of 2027.

With regards the fight scene on the train between Bond & Hinx. Hinx was played by Dave Bautista who I gather was a professional wrestler in the United States and obviously they had to practice some moves and Bautista said that Daniel Craig did really well and actually got him a good punch. Luckily Dave doesn't hold a grudge.

Addie, I got a new appreciation for this film after watching you enjoy it! Note, the characters of M, Moneypenny, Q, and even Blofeld are throw backs to the original Bond films, from the 1960's, when those characters were established. You will LOVE the great "flirtations" between the original Bond -- Sean Connery, the true OG -- and the original Moneypenny (the divine Lois Mawell). Sean Connery is simply a treasure in his role as James Bond, the role/character he created for all others to follow. Those early films are so much fun and cool in a historic way. They give you a cool snapshot of the ethos of the Cold War/espionage-era; granted, it's rendered in an over-the-top way, in some ways, with gagets added and fantastic plot scenarios shown, but it's all based on actual facts. The creator of the Bond books, Ian Fleming, actually came from that world, during World War II and afterwards. He wrote Bond as a kind of fantasy version of himself, but the books were all informed by his experience in Intelligence work. Really cool backstory. I think, after seeing the Daniel Craig films, you should just go back in time and experience the original films -- at least the Sean Connery ones -- and see what you think! They are all super fun!

18:44 Armies and governments have been making the mistake of confusing technological superiority for physical dominance since forever. The US and Europe had to learn it again in the Afghan war when it was rediscovered-- and subsequently re-forgotten-- that drones and signals intelligence can only do so much without recon and field officer support. No matter what the battle if you can't hold your ground you can't win, and you're not holding anything without physical assets on the ground.

so you are having a hard time getting into these movies... I hope you are enjoying them somewhat at least...and you do seem to be enjoying them. For me...I've said this before, but I only liked the first 2 Craig Bond movies. And I dislike the rest of his, especially his last one. What it is for me is the writing. Little by little, movie by movie Bond is slowly written to be a different character than he has been for the previous 20+ movies in the franchise. And I grew up with the original Bond movies, the Sean Connery and Roger Moore mainly, then again I grew up in the 70's and 80's. It was always, no matter who played Bond or who wrote and produced and directed the Bond movie, you always knew you'd get Bond. And the Daniel Craig movies is a different character! If you take the name "Bond" out of it and just see it as a generic spy/action movie then they are good movies...mostly... but certainly not Bond movies. In my opinion of course!

Excellent reaction, Addie. Spectre (2015) was the second Daniel Craig James Bond movie that I saw in theaters, but not in IMAX though. This was also the first Daniel Craig James Bond movie, and overall first James Bond movie since Die Another Day (2002), to be Filmed In Panavision (anamorphic). The gunbarrel sequence at the beginning is how a James Bond movie usually opens. Casino Royale (2006) had one that seagued into the main title sequence and Quantum of Solace (2008) & Skyfall (2012) had it at the end. The opening shot in this movie inspired director Sam Mendes to film his next movie, 1917 (2019) as if it were a one-shot. Next stop, No Time To Die (2021).

I hope you do Bronson next. Daniel Craig is great to an extent but Bronson really brought the franchise back on top with goldeneye. I don’t count 4th installment example die another die or the 4th of this one. Bronson is an underrated actor really brought back the physic of Bond I’m sure some like Craig better that’s fine but most would agree with me. Like Connery, Bronson was Bond is every way

Brosnan was by no measure the best bond. The people I see the most, saying he was the best, they say it's because he was the Bond they grew up with. Most people I've seen, have Sean Connery and Daniel Craig, as their top Bond. Personally, I hated the Brosnan Bond movies. They are all the Bond movies, I ever only watched once. They just got more, and more ridiculous. Action without story, impossible gadgets etc. What I like about the Craig movies, is that he's not invinsible.

@@akyhne Dalton's Bond was vastly underrated.

@@aTofuJunkie His movies were not bad (storywize), but I could never take him too serious. He looked kind of a whimp to me, and not a tough agent, with license to kill.

Charles Bronson? Yeah, that would be cool.

A lot of people did not like this movie when Irma came out, but I thought it was brilliant. It’s funny, but movies most people love (like Skyfall) I found less than stellar, and other movies most people find less than stellar (like SPECTRE) I love. Oh well.

Glad to see someone else who wasn't a fan of Skyfall. I don't get the love for that movie.

That's the interesting thing about the Bond series -- apart from a few undisputed classics, most fans have wildly differing opinions on most of the movies. You don't really see that in many other franchises. And I agree that "Skyfall" may have usurped "Goldfinger" as the most overrated Bond movie; I mean, it has the same basic premise as "GoldenEye," FFS. Of course, on the other side, I happen to like the highly polarizing "Moonraker" quite a bit.

This had its moments but it almost feels like the director decided to take acid and watch too many Wes Anderson movies during the filming.
