Fun fact, there was no parade or festival like at the beginning for dia de los muertos before this movie, but now there is one in Mexico City every year because of the success of the one in the movie. Also, the helicopter fight scene was so well choreographed that people on the ground thought it was real and were freaking out because no one told them about it. As far as drilling into a specific part of the brain to mess with someone's memory, I don't know for sure, but I would heavily suspect no. Memory, like most things of the brain, is a bit of a mystery however we do know that memory isn't locally stored. Instead information is stored as a "nerve net". Imagine that a single neuron is at a traffic light, standard intersection with 4 roads leading to it. That information can still be accessed from three different directions if there is a car wreck on the road you are on, similarly where if a nerve pathway is damaged... kinda. Hope that makes sense. If you want to read a bit more about how the brain functions in a practical sense, a good book to start would be "we know it when we see it" by Richard Masland PhD; it is strangely apropos to that situation in the movie because it talks a lot about facial recognition. The net at the bottom of the construction site that bond jumps onto while carrying madeline, in real construction those are there to catch debris to prevent it from falling on anyone below.

The scene where they blow up Blofeld's base is actually the largest practical explosion ever done for a movie. They used 10,000 liters of fuel and 33kgs of explosives. Strange that such a record would go to a bond film, but it looks amazing so who cares.

It’s not really made clear, since this is a different continuity, but in the old 007 continuity, Blofeld was Bond’s original archenemy. Like this continuity, they built him up over several films, with the Soecter organization being the connecting tissue, and all the prior villains being either subordinates or allies of Blofeld. Thats why his revelation was made to be so dramatic, the reveal of his name played to be so significant. Put quite simply, Blofeld is James Bond’s Joker.

@andreademarchi7495 It’s more about the status of most personal archenemy that marks someone as the status of so-and-so’s Joker, in the way that I described. If we’re talking actual behavior, then yes, Silva was more like the Joker, particularly Heath Ledger’s, than Blofeld. Blofeld is more like the Lex Luthor in terms of behavior.

I knew the name before seeing this at the cinema, as I'd seen all the previous Bond movies several times. But I still don't think Spectre made a big enough impact with that "reveal". I think, for a modern audience who might not have seen the originals, they could maybe have shown some flashback clips on a monitor, of the original Blofeld, and other enemies. (without showing past Bonds, obviously. That would have been weird. lol)

And like a lot of supervillians in other movies, he was supposed to be super-smart in this. But he still didn't notice nor confiscate Bond's watch. Christoph's character, of all people, would have known about the watch. OK, I know it's just a movie, but you see what I mean. lol

Fun fact: The intro, with the parade of Día de Muertos (Day of the Death), was purely fictional, traditionally, Día de Muertos is celebrated in households or cemeteries, where families can connect with their departed loved ones, but after the movie, Mexico City took the idea of the parade and make it real the following year of the movie release, the parade included many of the costumes and props which were used in the movie and is a new way to celebrate Día de Muertos that is still going.

* After reading a number of James Bond novels, I was able to start piecing together what is required to become a Double-O Agent. The first requirement is, that they hand-pick you. Not the other way around, and they hand-pick their agents from 3 different British special forces units, such as: the "Special Boat Service", the "Special Air Service" and the "3 Commando Brigade". When they are chosen, they are simply transferred to military intelligence. To be precise, "Military Intelligence Section 6"(M.I.6). M.I.6 quite literally *IS* the Double-O Section. * Keep in mind though, that M.I.6 is not the same thing as the "Secret Intelligence Service"(S.I.S.). The S.I.S. is not military. They are the equivalent to the U.S.A.'s "C.I.A.", and both organizations operate out of the same building, which is at "85 Albert Embankment, Vauxhall, Lambeth" obviously in London, England. The fact that both entities operate out of the same building, has confused a lot of people for a lot of years. Bear in mind, military intelligence is not some big secret. There is Army Intelligence, Naval Intelligence, Airforce Intelligence, even Marine Intelligence. * What M.I.6 is about, is it's a collaboration of military intelligence from all 4 branches of the military, so that they're all on the same page, and not stepping on each others toes. As far as intelligence investigations and enforcement field work goes, the Double-O Section is supposed to be the best of the best of the best(so to speak). Imagine having that kind of responsibility, pressure and stress. The Double-O Agents are active military "Intelligence Officers"(the S.I.S. call their field agents "Case Officers", because their not military). As you know, the head of M.I.6 is typically called "M"(which actually stands for "Minister of State for Defense Procurement"). * In the S.I.S., the "Chief Director" is simply referred to as "C"(I mean, when you gotta come up with a nickname.......just come up with something. Right lol?). When a member of one of these special forces units are transferred to M.I.6, they become "Intelligence Officer Field Agents". They begin with an entry-level position, and a 3 digit numerical cryptonym is added to their service number. Entry-level field agents are given a number between "100-999". If M.I.6 feels that an agent might make an effective Double-O, they are promoted to the level of "O-Agent"(Oh-Agent) status, and their code prefix is changed to a number between "010-099". * Until such time that M.I.6 is confident that the agent stands a good chance of surviving extremely dangerous investigation/enforcement missions. On that day, M changes their field agent status to "Double-O", and their code prefix to a number that is typically between "001-0013". Simply because there has never been more than 13 Double-O Agents at any one time. She'll simply give them the first number that's available, starting with "001". If all 13 Double-O numbers have already been assigned to other agents, that agent then becomes the very first "0014". * Just to give you an idea of how that works. As we learned in "Casino Royale", the very last requirement to become a Double-O Agent, is that your record has to show that you've killed in the line of duty at least twice. As a side note, "Ernst Stavro Blofeld"(real name "Franz Oberhauser") is *"NOT"* Bond's blood brother. He is his "adoptive" brother. In other words, when Bond's parents were assassinate with that "climbing accident"(read the novel "Carte Blanche"), and Bond inherited the "Skyfall Lodge"(but signed it over to Mr. Kincade and *HIS* family) Bond's father's best friend "Hannes Oberhauser"(Blofeld's father, mentioned in the "Octopussy" short story) took him in, and adopted him(making Bond and Blofeld adoptive brothers). * That would mean that Bond used to call Blofeld and his father "Hannes and Franz"(you know....like the Saturday Night Live sketch....um....never mind). Hannes was an Olympic Alpine Skier, and was training Franz to become an Olympic skier(this might be how Blofeld was such a good skier in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"). Then, when Hannes adopted Bond, he began to train him for Olympic Alpine Skiing. Bond excelled at it so quickly, and Bonded(pun intended) with Hannes like Franz never had. This pushed him over line and he tried to kill them both by causing an avalanche. One that he got caught up in as well. * Bond and Franz both survived, but Franz ran away, made his way in the direction of France, and eventually legally changed his name, while Bond's aunt "Charmian Bond" flew to "Kitzbuhel, Austria", and took him back to "Pett Bottom, England" where she lived, and owned a 5-star restaurant in "Canterbury" that had a *VERY* impressive wine cellar(could this be how Bond became a connoisseur? Seems pretty obvious). There are also murmurings that she even owned her own vineyard on the property of where her own personal home was located. This is where Bond begins attending "Eton College", and is where the "Young Bond" novel called "SilverFin" begins.....

@@givepeasachance7 * My pleasure. I forgot to mention that entry-level MI6 field agents are called "1-0"(One-Oh) Agents, and that SPECTRE actually stands for: "Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion". Also, as best as can be believed possible, the Daniel Craig Bond film continuity plays out something like this: *2006* - "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" *2007* - "Operation: Cowslip"(GoldenEye pre-titles sequence) *2010* - James Bond 007: Blood Stone(video game) *2012* - "Skyfall", and *2015* - "SPECTRE". * Then, in *2016* - "Dr. No", "From Russia with Love", "Goldfinger"(see the video game called "007 Legends"), "GoldenEye", "Thunderball", "Tomorrow Never Dies", "You Only Live Twice", "The World is Not Enough" and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"(see "007 Legends") *2017* - "Diamonds are Forever", "Live and Let Die", The Man with the Golden Gun", "The Living Daylights", "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Operation: Put-n-Take"(pre-titles sequence of "Die Another Day") *2018* - "Die Another Day"("007 Legends"), "Licence to Kill"("007 Legends"), "Moonraker"("007 Legends"), "For Your Eyes Only", "Octopussy", "Never Say Never Again" and "A View to a Kill" *2021* - "No Time to Die". * So far, that is the most popular theory on how the other Bond films fit into Daniel Craig's Bond universe. The reason why I bring up "007 Legends", is just in case you wanna see what those missions would look like in the Daniel Craig continuity. The game suggests that these other films take place in between "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall", but that's not possible, because Moneypenny doesn't become M's personal secretary until the end of "Skyfall". All the other films show us that Moneypenny is already M's personal secretary, and is already well acquainted with Bond. Also, there's a theory that M faked her death in "Skyfall". She may have only passed out, but Bond thought she had passed away. * Keep in mind, in the Daniel Craig Bond films, her character's name is "Olivia Mansfield". However, in the Pierce Brosnan Bond films, her character's name is "Barbara Mawdsley". Is it possible that she faked her death because of the assassination attempts on her. Perhaps she got a rhytidectomy, colored her hair, and changed her identity. Bond would know that the Skyfall estate is only about a mile away from "Ballachulish Medical Center". So when Bond realized that she still had a pulse, he may have told Mr. Kincade to try to keep her warm, bandage the wound and put pressure on it. * He may have then jogged to the village of Ballachulish(about a mile from Skyfall), and went with the paramedics so that he can direct them to the chapel on the Skyfall estate, or perhaps he was able to call headquaters for a helicopter. At the Ballachulish Medical Center, M may have told Bond of her intentions to fake her death, and step down as the "Chief Minister of Intelligence", to the position of "Deputy Minister", or "Junior Minister" who knows. There has to be those who can serve as "acting" Minister, for when the "Chief" Minister is off duty. They can't do their job if they don't eat or sleep. * Then when she steps up to the position of Chief Minister in GoldenEye, she's had her rhytidectomy, she's got her new identity, and during Bond's "first" meeting with her, they have to act as though they're meeting for the first time. O.k., so maybe it seems like a clumsy effort to fix that continuity problem, but I think it works. Bond faked his death in "You Only Live Twice". Even Moneypenny faked her death in the novel "The Moneypenny Diaries: Final Fling". Name's Alex...Alex Knight. I'll have a gin martini. Stirred!...Not shaken🍸

Great reaction guys like always, there are some fun-facts about this one, Largest explosion in a single take in filming history was in this movie. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest film stunt explosion was the destruction of Blofeld's base in Spectre. It was staged in Morocco, using 10,000 litres of fuel and 33kg of explosives. The total explosive yield was equivalent to 68 tonnes of TNT. The opening sequence in Mexico's Day of the Dead is shot in one take for several minutes with no cuts. (one take that was 4 minutes) The fight scene (and the love that followed) is an homage to the Orient Express scene from "From Russia with Love". That film is notable, for one reason, because of the fight scene between Robert Shaw's character and Bond. Amazing films, both of them. Daniel Craig while filming the fight scene with Dave Bautista, Craig accidentally breaks Dave nose after being punched. Monica Belucci portray as the oldest Bond Girl to date. Daniel Craig did most of the movie a broken leg. And the Aston Martin car is one of a kind model and is build specifically for the movie. Keep up the good work.

Dave Bautista had only one line, but you notice that he nailed the accent! Also, it is not real to erase specific memories. Memory is too complex and involves many parts of the brain to work that way. You can disrupt certain pathways and even disable portions of the brain like that. He was drilling into the area that controls speech called Wernicke's area with the second drilling, so his ability to speak coherently or understand what he was reading or hearing. The first drilling, is the part responsible for learning non-verbal information, like music or even playing baseball! He probably would have not been able to be a spy anymore, unless he had advanced care immediately. Except it's Bond, so he'll be back to normal with a brief rest and a short walk! Also, mentioning Vesper Lynd is a bit different.... in previous Bonds, women were more of a commodity (hence why they simply got lumped together as "Bond Girls") and were more or less disposable. Mentioning her is humanizing both Bond and Vesper all the more. We realize that she really was important to James; it adds dimension to his character!

To answer one of your questions: Theoretically it should be possible to erase someone's memory by piercing specific parts of the brain, since the brain structure is what stores all of our thoughts, memories and emotions. But the part responsible for remembering faces is in a completely different spot. Blofeld messed this up.
@billbill6094
@billbill6094 2 ай бұрын
We know that memory isn't nearly as localized as previously thought, multiple studies have been done on people with brain damage, lobotomies, even rats with different specific parts of their brains surgically removed, and the specific memories being looked for are usually still there. You can teach a rat a route through a maze or the conditions which they'd get food, and no matter what part of their brain you remove, even those often considered as memory storage, the memory rarely disappears, for example. IDK if the writers thought that far but that's probably why Bond wasn't affected at all in the way Blofeld described.

Lol, how could they not understand why that net was there? Building being prepped for demolition = giant hole workers could fall into = net to keep said worker from, you know... dying. Enjoyable reaction nonetheless. Looking forward to the next one. Easily the Bond film with the most emotion and heart (also cool explosions and action stuff) It's also my favorite of the series. This movie is underrated. It's better than people give it credit for (imo).

You'll be pleased to know that the logic of the netting that Bond and girl jumped into in the old MI5 building would've been residual health & safety equipment for the demolition crew to make working in a half crumbled building safer - if anything fall-wise would have happened to any of them it would've caught them in similar fashion. An enjoyable movie share guys, and another great Bond flick. All the best villains have a plausible quality to their motives. The more, as a writer, you can make an audience empathise with the villain, the better the character.

I think Batista is easily the best wrestler turned actor. He's the one that has really tried doing different things. He's done action and comedy and drama and horror and he always gives it his all each time. Cena has gotten much better, but I think he needs a good director to pull out the best from him.

Cena is good in comedies, Johnson is good in action comedies, Austen is pretty bad, Hogan was worse. Others like Edge, Rousey, Andre, Piper, HHH have been good in particular roles they have been given, which is basically down to good directing.

Similar to the previous, it's a pity you haven't seen all the previous Bond films. If you had then there's a lot in this that you'd pick up on. For instance the second the white cat appears you'd know Waltz is playing Blofeld. Even if off YT, it's worth watching Connery's You Only Live Twice for Donald Pleasance's Blofeld which this harks back to. Skyfall's still my favourite of the Craig films. I'll be curious to see what you make of No Time to Die. For me it was disappointing but to grab a Roadhouse quote, opinions vary. Great react as always!

Yes, certain areas of the human brain are responsible for certain functions. Damage to these segments can have devastating consequences. In 1998 I had a massive cerebral hemorrhage, including in the left frontal lobe. Consequences: difficult to control emotions, had to relearn how to read and write, Short-term memory is almost non-existent, massive headaches at times, epilepsy, severe disability, etc. to this day. As a martial artist, I had an outstanding physique at that time, only that and an outstanding brain surgeon saved my life. You can see how severe damage to the brain can be.
