The 90s cartoon gave some very good reasons behind why each got their specific powers They were still caught by cosmic energy, but their ship was damaged. Ben was directly exposed due to tears in his suit, Sue was trapped beneath some debris (Which ben was trying to lift), Reed was trying to reach Sue, and Johnny had been set on fire. In the comics, I don't believe they were ever elaborated upon

The reason there's some similarities between the Incredibles and the Fantastic Four is because it's kind of intentional. Both are families, with four people in the main cast, but the powers have a lot of alignment, too. Sure, they're distributed differently, but you still get super strength, elasticity, and invisibility/force fields. Sure, the fire powers were swapped out for super speed, but such is as it is. There's even a parallel with the comics version of the team in two other ways: for one, their main villain has no powers (Doctor Doom in the comics doesn't have any powers, but he is a omni-disciplinary scientist and knows almost as much magic as Doctor Strange) and the child of the primary couple is one with unlimited potential. While Jack-Jack in the Incredibles has every power, Franklin Richards (Reed and Sue's son) is a mutant with the ability to alter reality. No Fantastic Four movie has been particularly well received, and the Incredibles (the first one) is seen by many to be the best adaptation of the team, despite not being one in actuality. Let's hope the MCU does a better job (not holding my breath). But, just know that there are four Fantastic Four movies currently (fittingly): this one, as well as a follow-up in Rise of the Silver Surfer, a 2015 reboot film (often considered the worst of the lot), and a 1994 movie which was never officially released. That last one may not be good, but it's worth a watch (especially since it has the most comic-accurate Doctor Doom we've seen in live action), especially after hearing the backstory behind it: The studio with the film rights to the Fantastic Four needed to make a film in a certain amount of time, or the rights would revert back to Marvel. So, they hired Roger Corman, who was known for making movies on the incredibly cheap, to produce. It's unknown if he knew the plan from the start, but the cast definitely didn't know that the idea was to film it but never release it, because the contract only said that they needed to make a film in the certain amount of time, not anything about distribution. Much of the cast paid their own money to go to conventions to promote the film, seeing it as potentially their big break. It was only later that it was revealed that said film wasn't going to be released, though it had a screening at a comic convention, I believe. A tape of the film began circling through the fan community, and has a cult status as the-movie-that-never-was. It's better than it should be for an ashcan copy of a film, but its circumstances means that there's also a lot left to be desired. It's definitely an experience, though.

I'm so glad that especially thanks to "Deadpool & Wolverine" that more of the 'original slate' of superhero films are being brought back for people. The MCU truly would never have existed if these films didn't succeed and fail in equal measure. This movie really capitalized on the camp and the familial closeness that is the core of the Fantastic Four in the comics. It's not enormously comic-accurate, but I think it did a really good job staying true to the spirit of the characters and their struggle with accepting the consequences of the cosmic storm. Chris Evans blasted Johnny Storm out of the park. The only real complaint I have about this movie is that so few people know about the director's cut that was released later. It adds so *much* to the film, gives more to Reed and Sue, and has a secondary subplot of Victor trying to corrupt Johnny and further turn the four against each other and it makes Johnny coming through as a hero in the end much better, IMHO. But the sequel to this one, "Rise of the Silver Surfer", is actually really good and the SFX for the Silver Surfer hold up *astoundingly* well to this day!

this movie is great but how they handled Doctor Doom always made me dissapointed. in the comics, Doom already runs an entire nation and is a world-level threat, but this movie made him an angry buisnessman. he also doesn't have superpowers, he's just really smart and studied both science and magic. i feel giving him powers ruins the whole vibe Doom is meant to have. still, this Doom is WAY better than the one from the 2015 movie. i'm a big Doctor Doom fan, if you can't tell.
@TheRawrnstuff
@TheRawrnstuff 2 күн бұрын
"he also *doesn't have superpowers,* he's just really smart and *studied* both science and *magic"* Yeah, maybe this is semantical, but I have to disagree with the sentiment. "I can blast energy from my fingers, but it's not a superpower because it's _magic"_ doesn't quite strike true with me. But yeah, I'd say Dr. Doom is a lot like an Anti-Villain (opposite of anti-hero) version of Dr. Strange - and while I still like this Dr. Doom as well, the version isn't very comic-book accurate.
@spacezombie13
@spacezombie13 Күн бұрын
@@TheRawrnstuff you're not wrong that it's semantics regarding the difference between magic and superpowers. i guess if i were to clarify what i mean, i'd say that in the comics, Doom studied and learned how to be so good at magic he could rival Doctor Strange if he wanted to, but in this film he just *gets* lightning hands and metal skin the same way the FF get their powers- chance. Comic Doom had to actually work for all of his abilities, which is what i mean by the 'vibe' Doom normally has. He may do terrible things, but he EARNED everything he has so it's hard to deny him when he claims he's so great. Movie Doom is just an entitled rich prick.

Sometimes I think that the incredibles and fantastic four team has many similarities like both has one strong man, a stretchy person, a woman who can be invisible and force fields except Johnny and dash dash

Well, Addie, if you enjoyed this, you'll probably like the sequel Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer, too. Look forward to you reacting to that...

Love that you reacted to this movie and liked it! 😊 This movie was a huge part of my childhood and it will always have a special place in my heart. I will always like this movie and the sequel for what they are. So much better than the 2015 reboot movie. I love the cast and their chemistry with each other. Great reaction video and looking forward to seeing more!

In the comics Ben and Alicia got married and theyre so adorable together ❤ The fantastic 4 is my favorite Marvel team, i love them so much ❤ this movie was my introduction to them before the comics so i can forgive some issues, specially Doom 😅 Fun fact: the official 5th member of the fantastic 4 is Spiderman 👌 You need to watch the sequel: Rise of the silver surfer 😊

They made an awful reboot in 2015 also called Fantastic Four, but then when Disney bought Fox in 2019 the rights for the franchise are back with Marvel so now we're getting an MCU Fantastic Four movie called *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* in July 2025 as the first movie of phase 6.

I remember hating this in theaters because the co-creator of Twin Peaks and the writer of GoldenEye wrote this movie and I was so disappointed lol. But it’s become a guilty pleasure of mine over the years

You have met Reed Richards before in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but Reed was played by John Krasinski. For a long time, everyone wanted a Fantastic Four reboot to star Krasinski and his real life wife, Oscar-nominee Emily Blunt (who was the first casting choice for Natasha Romanov/Black Widow in Iron Man 2). The new Fantastic Four is cast and is as follows: - Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic) - Yep, The Mandalorian himself! - Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Girl) - Lots of movie work, also played Princess Margaret in seasons 1 & 2 of The Crown - Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) - Eddie from Stranger Things. - Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/The Thing) - currently on The Bear. Oh...and Doctor Doom has been recast with Robert Downey, Jr. But, it's not entirely clear if he is Victor von Doom, or an different Dcotor Doom. However, RDJ will be in the next Avengers films as the big bad. Reed Richard in these Fantastic Four movies is Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd (pronounced YO-an Griffith). He was the Titanic officer who went back for survivors after the sinking and rescued Rose in Titanic. He was also known for his television role as Horatio Hornblower in several made for TV movies called Hornblower, which told the story o a British Royal Navy officer as he rises from Midshipman to the top of the chain of command during the Napoleonic Wars. They only covered to the point where Hornblower became Captain of the List. Ben Grimm is played by another TV actor, Emmy-winner Michael Chiklis who is best known for the series The Commish and The Shield. In the Commish he was a Police Commissioner who was a lot like his Ben Grimm character, a sweet and lovable family man who is a great cop. In The Shield, he was a sleazy, dirty cop who was into everything...and won an Emmy for it. As a kid growing up, he had a dream of playing Ben Grimm. When he got the role, he was over the moon. In many ways, Chiklis is the heart of both Fantastic Four movies...his love of Ben Grimm is obvious, even when he's playing the sad moments.

Ioan Gruffudd was also in "San Andreas" (2015) where he played a not so likable character who receives a very gruesome death. BTW for me, Pedro is always Joel Miller. But thanks for all the info on the new FF. Hopefully, it will be much better than the failed 2015 reboot.

I love these early 2000’s superhero films & I honestly think the cast of this is great & they do a good job showing how they all handle their powers differently similar to X men. & Spiderman & Fantastic 4 was the first heroes that Stan Lee made for marvel

7/10 A pretty good film As a reader of the comics, I was really excited to finally see a movie about my favourite characters. I've learned that a FF film was in "development hell" for some decades, so when it finally came out, obviously I rushed to the theater. And, I was not disappointed at all. Of course it's not as good as X-Men 2 or Spider-Man (the original, with Tobey Maguire), but it's good for what it aims to be: a sci-fi/action movie about comic book characters. You have to understand that the Fantastic Four are not as popular as other heroes, like Iron Man i.e., besides, their stories always covered the most strange, bizarre, far out things imaginable. And, because they are a family, there are many corny moments in the movie, but the comics too have those moments, then you just have to "let it go", to really enjoy the story.

This was a fun, campy superhero movie and it didn't really try to be more than that which is why I love it! For those of us who saw Chris Evans in roles like this, when he was typecast as the jock/bad boy archetype, to see him play Captain America was wild but in a really great way! It really let us see his acting range.

The FF are a great place to start one's journey into Marvel. They are OG Marvel and have always been the original gate way book for the cosmic universe. Doom is my favorite non-mutant Marvel baddie. I used to watch the old 70s cartoon when I was a little kid. Always had a special place in my heart for fellow Brooklynite, Ben Grimm. The movie isn't great but Doom's origin aside, at least it respects the IP (at least more so than Phase Bore of the MCU).

These movies weren't as bad as people made them out to be. The only fault was how the handled the second one and honestly had it come out a few years later it probably would have been more faithful. Sadly, these movies came around a time where studios were still hesitant about going full comic book and honestly were quite resentful. Wasn't till Dark Knight and Iron Man that things got better after comic book movies hit a bit of a rut between 2004 and 2007 with many lukewarm or straight up bad sequels, like Spider-Man 3, Blade Trinity, X-Men Last Stand.

Thier powers are roughly linked to the four elements: Fire, Rock, clear as air, liquid as water. The Incredibles copied a few of them flat out. This was a fun movie, I don't understand the people who said it was a flop

The only thing I disliked about this one was the way they changed Dr. Doom’s origin. In the comics he was a brilliant scientist, and instead of being a rich businessman he was the king of a small east European country, but the metal armour wasn’t part of his body. It was a suit he wore. And his powers were magic he learned from a secret monastic order. He was basically an evil version of Dr. Strange.

This movie strikes such a fun tone! My only real complaint is that the finale of the climactic battle when all 4 of them are finally battling Dr. Doom together is just oh so short. It's cool to see Reed finally doing some of his more out-there stretchy movies, but the whole fight is just too brief.
