Adding a little pep to your MOPAR step: the fuse pull

For those running bone stock, resetting your adaptives can make a small but noticeable difference.
For pre-2015 Challengers and Chargers, pull fuse #2. For 2015 and newer, pull #31

Great info! I have a 2018 R/T and noticed it seemed to be lagging a bit lately and I do a lot of highway driving ...watched your video and one other...did the fuse pull....and truly can feel a bit of life came back to my engine this morning! Thanks for the tip.

It certainly was badass. It didn’t have a lot of bling but I kept it clean enough to eat off of. I don’t own the car anymore but its nice to look back at this video and still enjoy it.

I've heard this is recommended when jumping up your fuel octane, I'm in Alaska where we are cursed with 90 at the pump, best we got around here. to get more you need an octane booster (specifically Torco seems to be the only one that actually does what it says) or some race gas to mix in, and in the case of a car you're keeping the CATs on, unleaded race gas. Either way it means alot of us up here are running straight 90 fairly often if we drive these cars daily. It doesn't hurt them because the difference between 90 and 91 (recommended minimum octane according to manual) has been described as "undetectable", but we''re leaving power on the table with this swill they give us at the pump. And it does not take much of a variance in fuel quality for the car to start pulling alot of timing. Something I thought I'd share, I'm about to run some Torco in my 16 Hellcat for the first time, and do this fuse pull ahead of time, Once the rain quits I'll comment back whether I felt a difference or not, I suspect I will between the pull and the Octane booster.

Hey mike good tip I’ll use it on my RT and hellcat when i get one how do you feel on buying a used hellcat with 25K - 40K miles on it ? Prices are looking good for them but i do understand those are a lot of hard miles on a hellcat

Every car is different in terms of how it was treated. Fortunately the Hellcat motor is forged and built to withstand abuse that a typical owner would give it. The biggest risk, in my opinion, is getting one that was heavily modded and run very hard. Hellcats that have been pushed to ~1000HP test it to the limit, and there are several youtubers who have blown their motors and learned the hard way. If you’re looking at a used Cat, I’d recommend trying to buy one that was owned by someone you know or someone who others know in your area so you can ascertain some of the car’s history. If that’s not possible, you may be able to find out about the car from social media (but that’s a pretty long shot unless the car is unique in some way).

How did you discover this tip & will it violate my warranty in any way Mike? So you say to pull fuse with engine off for 10 minutes, then to re-install it or do you run the engine after first pulling it, then shut it off to re-install?

vinniecorleone62 can’t remember who first told me about it, but it was a good 5 years ago. No warranty issue at all. You do everything with the car off.

Does that reset the transmission programming as well?

My understanding is that it does not. I have only done this with manual transmissions so honestly have not ever asked about it how it affects the TCM on automatics. There may be some minor effect in that respect with the autos that I am not aware of.
