Throttle Calibration- Relearn? Car Feels Different

Car drives sluggish or sluggish throttle response? I've been researching throttle relearn & calibration I may have stumbled onto something here. In the Charger/Challenger this method has resulted in the air intake being a little louder & my estimated gas mileage going up. There had to have been a throttle calibration or relearn in the 2015 2016 2017 Charger RT.
If your car is feeling sluggish, it is likely adaptive driving needing to be reset or calibrated. This throttle reset or throttle calibration is a simple & easy trick for relearning. Let me know in the comments below if you think this helped. Many use the fuse 31 or 25A engine control module pull for a throttle relearn or calibration.

Dude! I swear u read my mind. I've been thinking that I just didn't have the throttle response I should, or want. Have the power but always thought/ or wanted my pedal to be a bit more "touchy" like in my older carbureted cars. You may have solved my concern! I will definitely be trying this and let ya know. Thanks!

Let me know how it works out for you - I thought the throttle response was a little sharper & I could hear the intake again. I haven't really heard that since I 1st installed the K&N.

The dealership flashed my new 2019 Grand Cherokee transmission and it's been back twice because it just does not drive the same. Sluggish, shifty and lacked the linear acceleration it had prior to the flash. I performed this reset yesterday and I can't believe how much better the vehicle drives! And why doesn't the dealership know this...shameful?! Thank you!!!

Thanks for the help! I first noticed troubles in performance after I did CAI and high flow exhaust to my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7. I was just about to buy a tuner thinking I had no other option, but all my truck needed was a PCM reset (unplug negative terminal on battery for 20min) and to recalibrate the throttle. I just tried it out yesterday, and already noticed my truck running much smoother and more fuel efficient! For anyone with the same problems. Start here!

Have to say this does work and gives a noticeable difference. When and if it gets sluggish again, just do the relearn again and off you go. Also read about pulling fuse #2 for older vehicles or fuse #31 for new but this is easier with what seems the same results.

This even worked for my 2020 Ram 1500. After installing a throttle body spacer, it made a cool noise but I felt like it slugged my throttle response and it seemed to only get worse as time went on, and this included acceleration from a dead stop and trying to gain speed while already accelerating. This quick fix brought it right back to life and is back to being extremely responsive.

I've had my 2012 automatic srt8 challenger for 2.5 years. I have previously owned a 2013 manual srt8. My automatic challenger seemed far less responsive than the manual and I could never figured out why. I added a Cai and flowmaster exhaust and it just seemed nowhere near as fast as my manual challenger that only had a flowmaster exhaust added. I performed your technique and I now feel like I'm getting the experience I paid for. Thank you! Btw I been selling these things for 4 years. 🤦‍♂️😂

This was an interesting experiment. My daughters car, 2012 Dodge Avenger, had issues when she bought, the car lot replaced several things, including the throttle body and the PCM. It's been running fine for the last 5 or 6 months, and recently died on her twice, both times at idle. I drove it for a while and noted that when I let of the throttle, the RPM would drop 6-700 RPM, then bounce back up to about where it was. I tried this technique and on the 1st, brief test drive, it seems better. I'll drive it a bit more over the next couple days, but I'm feeling like this was a fix. Thank you for posting.

I can't believe it. It has been totally different. It seems to be as your first drive after modifying. I tried two times with different ways. Second one works with me. its just pressing the pedal 3 times slowly. Then it worked. Now I dont have noise or rattling exhaust, The performance also returned back healthy.

You’ve saved me from putting a BBK Throttle Body on my new 2018 Challenger GT. I have put a K&N CAI and Flowmaster Catback exhaust on and had driven roughly 1200 Miles after Installation. There was a tremendous lag in throttle response and thought Oh No!! What have I done!!! The Hack you’ve shared cured all concerns. Just followed your instructions and took a 20 mile drive in city & highway speeds. The difference was unbelievable throttle response is now immediate , crisp and no hesitation. Thank you and look forward to any tips you come across for the 3.6L army

actually, like you said I guess you are the first to make the throttle relearn on video online. i had this problem with my 16 rt and it kindda got into my head and i was saying wtf thats not a farely 300 something WHP car. I mean the car didn't even loose traction for a second when floring it from 0. so I dug up the internet to fix that or at least someone to tell me it is normal. then i know from online dodge communities that there is something called driving behaviour learn on the car's ECM which adjusts throttle to match the behaviour of the driver. Some said to drive the car insainly is the way to fix that and i said that can fix it, but still this solution is a little risky. after that i found this way exactly and I was shocked after the first try. totally different. thanks for the vid

I did a complete tuneup and after I would “jolt” at stops. I assumed it was due to the throttle being upside down for an hour while I was changing the plugs or the sensor being dirty. However, after watching this video, solved the issue. Thanks

I saw this video and just tried it on my 18 DD R/T after reading some other forums as well. I turned it to run, waited for dash lights to turn off other than check engine. I started pushing the pedal slow and the engine light started flashing, which was a good sign. Held the pedal for 20 seconds at the floor, brought it up and turned the car off. Then I turned it back on. This definitely worked. The car acts like I’m pushing the pedal down harder than I actually am and seems to shift a bit later. Almost like a hybrid sport mode, since I’m still in ECO mode while driving around normally. Thanks for the heads up that something like this existed. I just hope the computer doesn’t automatically reset it to factory every time I drive.
