Fun series! I'd recommend gearing it to a lower FDR as carpet surfaces tend to be grippy and need to break traction, which the box tune is setup for slippery surfaces where you would be looking for traction

The real key thing to drifting is to control your throttle input and your steering. It seems like you were full throttling it much. Great video you made too! 👌

Hey Brett, thanks for the great video. I've been following this since it was released, I've been wanting to build a drift car. It's been a few days and playing with the stock tires, the yokomo carpet, and firebrand rc sickle tires. I really like the firebrand rc tires better on carpet they are grippy on and seemed to require less throttle. I'm still learning, thanks for turning me on to scale science 👍.

Great video.! I find that carpet tires need a good 30 min of run time before they start to break in. They will start to get better grip

When I went to your store every one was all droopy and looked moody. It was like in the old western movies that every one stopped what they were doing to mug me walking through the the door. No welcome no good morning. It was super awkward looking for what I wanted and when I finally found it I went to a desk and was told “Check out is over there”. I was like okay do you have this part? And they said no we don’t and just stared me like saying what else you want. I was excited to visit the store because it was a 3 hour drive.

Great video series. Although I’d have liked to have seen the tyre differences on the car stock before you started adding custom bits. For some of us beginners we wouldn’t even go that far - changing tyres is about all I would want to do as a beginner.

The MST tires have been updated to white dots. I got a couple of sets of those. Great content keep it up bro! I would recommend to upgrade servo and gyro. Also bigger offset in front wheels. Better steering control 🤙🏽

You can leave the rear as is. the front you want more wider for control while in drift. Also how wide the body is. -Jumel

Definitely enjoying this series, especially considering one been considering getting a drift kit (RMX 2.5 RS). Regarding "lubricant" for turnbuckles, the best is (probably) Chapstick...once you try it, you'll never use anything else.

@@AMain_Hobbies Plus, any excess can easily be wiped away, and you know what's there will "stick". With grease, being a 'fluid', more can find it's way "out" from between the turnbuckles & rod ends. In regards to the Chapstick tip, I picked that up some years ago within the RCC forum.

When it comes to drifting corners and sweeper its 90% throttle 10% steering a steady throttle finger is key because if you go too fast or steer too much you will spin out

Chap stick works as well if you don't have white grease. You can also use rubber o rings to hold the tires on the wheels

What do you mean by the o-rings to hold the wheels? The tires are so tight on the wheel, I don't think they're coming off. -Brett

830010 is a newer tire which probably didn't get changed in the manual. I hear a lot of good from those tires and that they are more suited for carpet drifting

Hey Brett, I've got a suggestion for you try reducing the camber to -2* on all four corners and in the front run 2* toe-out on each side. When you do this setup make sure to use the holes that go through the "top plate", steering rack and chassis.

just started in the rc drifting. How did you manage to install the MST carpet tires without soaking them in hot water or heating them? I broke a tire in half after heating and using the MST drift tire install/removal tool

We just pushed down on the tire and it slid over the wheel. Wheel tolerances can vary and maybe you just had a really tight wheel? A chrome finish can also make for a tight fitment. -Brett

Sure, setting up your ride height is the easier of the two. You'll want to set your ride height tool to the desired height first and run it under the car; front end and then rear end. If you need to make adjustment, you twist the spring collars on the shock cylinder. To increase ride height, tighten the collar - to decrease height, loosen the collar. Calipers can be used to measure the distance between the collar and the top cap on the shock, to ensure left and right side are the same distance. Make adjustments to one end of the car at at time. Shock rebound is not such an easy topic to explain, so I recommend you checkout some videos here on YT about it. -Brett

Might be a dumb question, but how did you set the ride height? Adjust the coil preload?

By adjusting the collars on the shock bodies up or down. We use calipers to measure the gap - from bottom of the shock cap and collar - and then ensure left and right are the same. Marking a line with a silver sharpie or similar will help you know how many turns you adjust the collar if you dont have calipers, so you can adjust the left and right side the same that way. -Brett

fyi....I see you running -3° toe on the rear....or have you changed it? I mostly run 0° toe on rear...back steps out easily & I dnt need to push the throttle so hard...slides easily as theres no toe in the rear

Hey I got a dumb question, I ordered a mst rmx 2.0 rtr and some yokomo high traction wheels, but just now was looking at them to send a link to my buddy and seen at the bottom description saying I need aluminum bolt on hex, could you please educate me why? The wheels are 12mm hex like the mst ? Maybe the stock plastic hex will break? Thanks for any help (I haven’t received my order yet so I can’t test for it or “inspect” my self yet)

Hmm, not sure. There wouldn't be any difference if a car was equipped with a plastic hex, aluminum, steel or titanium; the material shouldn't matter. Maybe they're pointing out it's a hex wheel and not an old pin style? Have a part number I can check out? -Brett
