Megastik, i buy a box of 12, and as I'm slow, i use it for whole boards and smaller bits. Absolutely solid. Great for skirtings too.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it say it again …… loving the channel . Great content , I love the way you explain what you’re about to do and then allow us to see you do it and highlighting any difficulties. learning a hell of a lot from your videos . Good banter and fun on the videos to which makes it even more enjoyable . Thanks Rich and Adam for the work putting these videos together. Keep them coming. What projects have you got lined up for after the extension and bungalow build ?

Felt roofing in 2024😮 very old school! That was just crying out for fibreglass or edpm? Anyhoo, on the music front I say it's fine but does come across quite loud on my phone causing vol adjustment during the time lapse sections. If I was uber picky I would say to be mindful of music vol in editing. Hope that is helpful. Great videos as always. 👍👍
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Hi Nigel. The music is turned down to 35% during the edit for that reason. It looks like I need to go another 10%. Thanks for letting us know. 👍🏻

@@Mr_A_Buildersi love the content but honestly have to say the music annoys the hell out of me lol , id rather watch someone work in silence lol
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
We have changed the music multiple times to follow what our viewers want and we have run out of ideas. Keeping the whole episode in silence isn’t one of options we could try 😁👍🏻
@iaintunmore2609Ай бұрын
The music is fine. Surely if people would prefer silence they can just hit the mute button for the time lapse segments. It seems a bizarre complaint to make to a building contractor. Generally the quality of the videos is excellent, and when it (very) occasionally isn’t, remember this is just video documentation of their projects, they aren’t professional videographers.

Can you use a xps tile backer board, 6mm or higher on the window reveal, can be plastered or just plasterboard over it, completely waterproof
@ke161coАй бұрын
was the wall you insulated a solid wall (no cavity) if it is can insulation board be fitted right against it or does it need a air gap? im planning on doing a bedroom out of it in my victorian house but not sure weather needs a gap or not. house gets fkinnn cold. would have the boards directly against the brick have any negative side effects
@thfc4745Ай бұрын
best to do some good research on insulating solid walls. Build with A&E recently mentioned it in a video.

why didnt you go for the GRP ?
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
Not an ideal time to do it. We really struggled with the weather to get this done so we wouldn’t have been able to do GRP at all. You can’t have any wet weather at all that’s the problem.

Ignorant question Do other countries not have rising damp or condensation like the UK? And what solutions do they use for plasterboard near the floor? I have a new build house n seat I have a breeze at floor level next to the wall. I'm convinced it's caused by the plaster board in the room not being air tight. Conversely, how do near passive houses manage moisture. I have heard that the issue is not keeping water vapour or condensation out if a building but letting it breathe and dry. Is that true?
@ianbaker3281Ай бұрын
Why have you felted it and not epdm, it's the future. 🤷
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
If you can suggest a reputable person that do it without ripping me off and do a good job I'd have done it in rubber. I haven't found one yet
@theetheeyog9878Ай бұрын
Why didn't you fix the insulation to the wall first than screwed the g bracket to the wall on top of the insulation
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
That’s not how it’s installed and also the idea is to take up as little space as possible.
@dansweeting7899Ай бұрын
@@Mr_A_Builders its just such a weird technique, massive gaps in the insulation makes no sense whatsoever
@Mr_A_BuildersАй бұрын
In this instance Dan the idea was to add more insulation than was already there which was zero. Ideally another sheet would go over the top or insulated plaster board but we are tight on space.
@dansweeting7899Ай бұрын
@@Mr_A_Builders I do get it mate, but even sticking a load of foam behind the studs as you're pushing in the insulation boards would make a difference
@bunglefordАй бұрын
@@dansweeting7899That was my thought also. Spray foam for the win.

Torching directly to timber deck?!? It’s because of this plonker why public liability insurance with the application of heat is so expensive. This is a recipe for serious fire! You’re supposed to tac down the first layer, or use cold apply methods with a self adhesive layer… Cowboy chancer I was quoted 8k this year for my renewal for public liability because of plonkers like this….
@neilgardner2399Ай бұрын
Sorry but torching straight onto board is not best practice I always nail first layer of base then torch second layer of base followed by top layer of mineral Where I have come across felt being torched straight to boards there has always been problems with it not bonding fully
