I think that Disney didnt future proof this system. Everybody knows in any serious mmo that has this kind of a progression you always make it future proofed so that it is much smoother to add new abilities. One of the biggest problems is how they designed the gui for gags. It forces all gags to be shown at all times. You cant add new gags unless you either change this interface or you extend the problem by just adding another row or column. I really think that they should have kept some of the old system of gags when it was all just gags and not put into tracks like it is. The other barrier to think about is Cogs. If you have no way of adding enemies with more health or difficulty you cant add more gags because you run into a severe balance problem where the enemies arent the same skill set as you.I think the actual progression of the game is too simplistic and flawed. We've always heard that balancing this game was a nightmare and that everything was so volatile but WHY should it be so unstable. That would mean it was never balanced to begin with. Heck who needs level 7s when you just have sound an endgame reward completely overtaken by a generic gag track. This being said i've always been in support of classes if done right because it allows players play based on the playstyle that works for them. People scream at me for saying it but in the end Toontown plays like a card game just like wizard101 but instead of drawing a hand we have the whole deck open to us. Even the battle gui displays the gag info like a card would. Lastly there is not enough options for things you can do in battle. The only things you can do is Hit,Heal,pass,and Stun(lure) there ideally should be more support options of things to increase your damage/reduce the cog damage as well as ways to protect yourself changing accuracy and damage. We have too many things that just do flat damage.

See, that's the thing. Toontown overall was just made to be simple. That's why this system so unbalanced and hard to tweak, they weren't making something that was going to compare to a full fledged MMO (which are on the decline now anyhow)

A gag track that does damage to a cog, and only slight health back to you, and only you (other than the level 7 that damages all cogs and heals all toon)

Exactly, but not a too big of a laff steal that it becomes over powered, maybe like 25-35% of the damage the cog takes the toon heals back, and make it seem not too obvious of a laff steal, have it so the toon does something silly to the cog that makes him laugh while the cog takes damage.

Yes I did play wizard 101, but I wasn't exactly thinking of it that way, I completely forgot they actually did that, I was thinking it more on a line for solos and such like that, but at the same time not completely eliminating toonup either.

A concept I had was a risk/reward one called Dark Humor (things like kicking buckets at the cogs). It would work one of two ways: It would either cost a certain amount of Laff to use, OR do more damage the lower Laff you are (based on percentage of full health, not the number, so its not OP for ubers).

What if the fish that you catch could be used as gags? For example: Dog fish could act like Toon-Up with it's puppy-like behavior, or King Crab acting like a Trap and Lure fusion, luring in Cogs with a treasure chest that if opened, the King Crab will pop out and pinch them.

THWACK: Deals very little damage to Cogs, but makes all gags used in that turn against that specific Cog hit. Used before Lure. Level One: Baseball Bat: Toon gets inflatable baseball bat and hits a Cog. 2 Damage. Level Two: Giant Glove: Toon takes off white glove and puts on a big one, then slaps a Cog. 3 Damage. Level Three: Bowling Ball: A bowling pin appears in front of the selected Cog, then the Toon rolls a bowling ball, hitting the pin, which flies into the Cog. 4 Damage. Level Four: Fishing Rod: Toon pulls out Gold Fishing Rob and bonks the Cog on the head. 5 Damage. Level Five: Broomstick: Broomstick flies into the Toon’s hand, and the Toon whacks the Cog’s head. 6 Damage. Level Six: Rainbow Sword: Rainbow touches the ground in front of the Toon, who then pulls a sword out from it, hitting the Cog with the non sharp end. 8 Damage. Level Seven (affects all Cogs): Humongous Magnet: Toon pulls out a giant, green magnet and all Cogs are sucked towards the Toon. When they touch the magnet, they are blown back. 15 Damage. Hope at least someone reads this comment lol. I put a bit of time into this.

It's cool, but I think it's a reward bonus type of thing and not a gag track. It's just too OP to allow for constant usage in the gameplan.

LoopyGoopyG in my opinion you should have some sort of shield like the other guy said but, instead of giving it to the toons give it to the cogs in order to keep the balance from gags becoming to overpowered and at least make it a bit more of a challenge for the toons.

Hey Loopy! I'm the guy who worked with you for push gags if you remember (I really hope you do considering their mention). I haven't watched in a while due to school and other games coming out, but I have been doing a fair bit of study on game design. One crucial thing I've learned is that tools a player is given are only satisfying to use if they can use them on something that cleverly justifies them existing. When I see sound, Toon-up, and Lure, I see new possibilities for battle and they really do unlock new opportunities. I don't see that with Trap, Drop, or any fan-made track (including my own). What combat in Toontown needs to improve is not new gags, but new cog activity. Sound, Lure, and Toon-up are useful because of how cogs counter Throw and Squirt. Sound is a counter to multiple cogs joining. Lure is a counter to cogs avoiding throw and squirt. Toon-up is a counter to cogs dealing damage. Meanwhile, Drop and Trap are just more ways to attack in the grand scheme of battle, leading to the ideal toon always leaving out Drop or Trap. Cogs need a core mechanic that only Trap or Drop can counter for battle to improve.

I think TTCC really needs to work on combat. Firstly, in my opinion, Toontown is too easy. Disney Toontown was made for teamwork but adjusted to make it extremely easy so that little kids could enjoy. I think that TTCC should bump up the difficulty but also tailor activities, battles, and more to be focused on teamwork rather than grinding gags, doodles, or soloing. This can also mean more diverse abilities for both toons and cogs. I really like the class idea. TTO took on a baby form of this with choosing gag tracks, but what it doesn't have in common with other RPG's is the specialization. When you choose a mage class in an RPG, you don't wish that you would have that one specific bow from the archer class. However, in TTO, everyone started with the throw and squirt but limited themselves to certain gags only until later. Although this arguably improves teamwork elements, later in the game, the absence of one track is just an annoyance and the sheer power of almost all of the gags is enough to solo and make the game boring. Secondly, covering the "passive" or healing gags, I think it would be a great idea to be able to use gags on other toons. Cogs hate fun which is why they don't like gags, but toons heal from fun, and gags and pranks bring fun. (except for dropping a toontanic on another toon...) Not only would this have a limiting factor of the number of gags that you could carry, but it wouldn't require too much more animation, and most importantly, not require a new gag track. I fear for the importance of unites, however. (Also, being able to use gags in playgrounds and houses would be fun!) When I heard of the idea for a push gag, I was intrigued. If you look at any other games with good battling - RPG or not - you can see that there's more to it than damaging and healing. There are statuses and effects, buffs and debuffs, consumables and abilities, and specialization through classes and enemy type. Trap is one of my favorite gags because of the uniqueness of using lure, and drop was also awesome because of how the animation and ideas were colorful compared to the other bland gags. Lastly, I just want to reinforce how much we need to work on combat. Combat extends more than just cog battles, but unfortunately, defeating cogs is one of the main elements. Boss fights and buildings will automatically be improved, and with all of us starting anew and with more releases coming in the future, I can sense no rush or complaints for extreme updates to bosses or playgrounds. I believe that story development and improved tasks will be much easier in terms of programming and animation because of how previous features can be repurposed for animations in story, but actions and combat take lots of computer work. In summary, the fighting element needs to be changed. Having a different, cleaner, quicker, but toony GUIs would be awesome and give the battles a huge spin. Thanks for reading :D

Gag idea: encore! These gags will boost the strength of other gags used in the same turn. They will be used first, and scale up in effectiveness as the levels go on. This could be useful if ttcc plans to go down a more difficult route as nerfing all the Pre existing gags would help with the difficulty. players can come up with more strategies then spamming sound!

Gag track labeled Prank: The toon would in some gag form prank the cog, the cog then receive a status effect based on the Gag use, Maybe the first track lowers it's attacks, the second gag track lowers it defense. So on and so forth with gags ( but different affects, The higher the gag track, the higher the risk of cog retaliation) However I think although it would be good, it's accuracy should be low, and can cause the cog to be in a "aggravated state" to where it can attack twice, leave lure, or block toon ups. I also think buffing the cogs, and maybe allowing some to have a disable like ability, would be nice. For example in pokemon, when a pokemon uses disable, you lose the ability to use a certain move. But hypothetically it could do the same to a toon in toontown. You could do a lot with the prank gag, with status effects a neat variety. But along with it's strength it shouldn't be 100% accurate to lured cogs.

have a idea for a gag, it call Burn gags. Burn gags can do some damage to the cog while after the turn is over, burn will do medium damage and have medium accuracy. Level 1 gag: match will do 9 damage and do burn for 1 round And accuracy is 35% Level 2 gag: lighter will do 16 damage and do burn for 2 rounds and accuracy is 40% Level 3 gag: chili powder will be 24 damage and do burn for 3 rounds and accuracy is 45% Level 4 gag: hot pizza will do 26 damage and do burn for 4 rounds and accuracy is 50% Level 5 gag: flame thrower will do 38 damage and burn for 5 rounds and accuracy is 55% Level 6 gag: fireplace will do 47 damage and do burn for 5 rounds and accuracy is 65% Level 7 gag: oven will do 75 damage and do burn for 5 rounds and accuracy is 70% Level 8 gag: volcano will do 125 damage and do burn for 6 rounds and accuracy is 90% So here is my idea for a new gag and maybe this will work

It’s a really good idea, but I think what it needs to do is do very little damage when you attack the cog, but then when after a certain amount of turns (say 3) it can do more damage than even trap.

I don’t think that adding more gags in required but something I though about when I used to play TTO was like a gag to hide your character for a turn (ex: throwing a blanket over you so the cogs can’t see you )

Honestly, I don't mind not having an additional gag track. I'm actually more interested to see if Corporate Clash will do something with SOS toons, SOS cards, and the process of getting them. Probably an underrated opinion, but I find them to be my favorite battle gimmick in the game. I dunno. Maybe this could be a video topic. I'm just very interested on what you and the team have to offer. Great video by the way, Loopy!

Gonna be real with yall, I think lure should just be straight up removed or completely rework. The way that lure works makes battles nothing more than jokes. It STUNS cogs, Gives 100% accuracy, AND increases damage. If that's not overloaded, idk what is

I thought of Flash (inducing temporary blindness) that could possibly replace Lure as a more-balanced alternative? Higher accuracy for gags and lower accuracy for cogs, but no knockback and no 100% anything once it hits.

I kinda like that Lure uses magnets and hypnotism but all in all it's kinda conceptually weak too. Like, increasing numbers of dollar bills? You can be more creative than that, probably. It's sometimes hard to tell them apart in battle too.

ive always thought that scare gags would be a cool addition that would work with something like push. you push them back into something that scares them; after all, scaring is a common prank, and gags are just another word for prank. of course, this would be totally redundant with trap, but still just an idea i had

You could make a gag track called prank in it is classical pranks like the bucket over the door with water. This gag could be a way for the player to heal themselves if it hits instead of other players.

for the passive thing, instead of it being a gag, why not some sort of buff that you get when, idk, a random toon from all those other buildings no one visits calls your home to request help and rewards you a passive that doesn't give a damage boost. like maybe for small toons, buy 2 gags with 1 jellybean and for big toons a boost that increases merits/bucks/notices/options ONLY when you need the max amount of each. kind of giving another use to your home and the buildings no one goes to. this could be tweaked and improved by someone. it'd be something new that wouldn't break the game (hopefully)

An interesting concept would be an ultimatum type gag that can only be used when all 4 toons in a battle use it together. Say you're in a tricky spot in the CEO battle. People are out of enough gags that the on coming cogs are going to be a real struggle. So the four toons use the ultimatum gag to wipe out the cogs and carry on. Not sure if this is the best hypothetical I could have used but I'm sure you can interpret what I mean.

a gag track where you use it for 1 round. then any round after what gag in the track you chose, every round after (depending on gag) gives all player small or large amounts of laugh. Like a level 1 give 2 laff per round. and a level 7 give 10 - 20. while after use the toon is able to use attack or other types of gags. and if its used all rounds after it would be grey like if you were solo and had toon up track, or use lure. once the battle is over the toon would have to renew it in the next battle. like toon up but so on for every round.

Here is great gag it’s called scare you teleport to the side of the cog and scare him causing the cog to run into the one beside it causing it to do damage to the one beside it. And the more cogs that the others run into do damage but it does less as it goes down the line. It also by the power of the gag could make it so that they don’t bump into every cog just a couple.

I think a Wired track would also be a very nice idea of mine that can amplify the damage of trap and would go through a v2.0 cog if that were to be a case. And wired can be trained like sound gag but also gives experience by the level of a trap gag so its extremely hard to train. But going through 2.0 cogs will happen after level 5 and can be used only twice. That's my feel about it.

Blind gags Cogs won't miss attacks and will also fail their attacks more often. After cogs attack they will take the blindfold off.

A gag track that lowers the cogs accuracy (blind) medium accuracy for gags 1 - 4 and high accuracy for 5 - 7 gags that I recommend lvl 1: baseball does a little bit of damage I recommend 5 lasts for 5 rounds lvl 2: slingshot 10 damage lasts for 5 rounds lvl 3: mini flashlight 0 damage a bit more accuracy than baseball or slingshot lasts 5 rounds lvl 4: boxing glove 15 damage lasts 5 rounds back to medium accuracy lvl 5: large flashlight 0 damage lasts 9 rounds lvl 6: cat nip 30 damage lasts 9 rounds lvl 7: heavens light lasts 20 rounds advantages: basically cogs miss but cogs do less damage when blind gags hit disadvantages: the light gags won't work on lured cogs baseball will NEVER hit on loose level 9 - 12 cogs. animations: baseball will have the toons wined up the baseball and throw it at 1 cog if it works the cog will get a black eye. Slingshot will will have the toon pit the ammo on the sling aim and shoot it at the cogs eye still causes a black eye. Mini flashlight the toon will pull out a small flashlight and put it in strobe mode the cogs eyes will turn white if it hits. Boxing glove will have the toon pull out a boxing glove and the bell that starts the fight rings and the toon punches the cog in the stomach and the cogs stun animation will play if it hits. Large flashlight the toon will pull out a BIG flashlight and do what the mini flashlight does and effects two cogs. The toon pulls out cat food and dumps it in front of the cogs a bunch of cat toons will come and scratch all cogs. Heavens light a big light flashes on all cogs and a choir of angels sing when the gag is in use. I hope this could be taken into consideration and you could change the gags if you want or have to and I had this idea for a LONG time planning and considering the damage

I've been considering Power-Up Gags. They apply different boosts to toons such as more evasion, accuracy, resistance, attack, etc.

Maybe there could be a defense-style Gag Track where a certain percentage of damage is deducted from a Cog attack, and the Level 7 Gag would make the Cog attack completely miss everyone for that round (and as it's a Level 7 you can only have one at a time and you have to earn it back)

Personally I'm more concerned with the flaws existing have and fixing them beforehand, for example: drop is a low accuracy and high hit, which is balanced. But because it's always last it's either rarely used, rarely seen and even if it does get a chance, that low accuracy means you might even again. Trap is nice but you need lure to set it up; meaning if you're alone you have to take 2 turns to set it up (per cog, exlcuding the multi ones). It would be good if there was tweaks to say, traps that lure a cog in themselves at early levels, meaning the later ones won't; giving that difficulty curve a better chance. Or maybe put them in rewards for a field office, tiny little gag boosts that alter the gameplay like you can use them before picking a gag to add lure to a gag, help it go first (for drop it's essential) maybe a card that makes sound not wake cogs from lure. Rather than just a new gag line, after all the field offices just give sos which you get in battles like V.P. so it's not unique. It would make both field office rewards more interesting and help boost some much needed gag love to some areas; without adding new gags. What will they be called? I'd like to throw in another idea we can reuse: Trading cards. Remember those cards you got when you joined toontown years ago? Well imagine them, with these gag buffs in battle, you get from field offices. Need graphics for the cards or bios? We can reuse the disney ones or remake our own; that and there's nothing more toony and child friendly as trading cards :D

One of my fav things about TT's battle strategy is a gag's dependency on other gags. Trap needs lure, drop works better with dmg stun, and lure's knockback bonus using throw/squirt. I think more of this could be used. All cogs have that gag weakness in their bio but it's not used. I think their weakness dmg should be more significant. And am I too bold saying squirt needs to go away? It's half redundant bc more dmg has more significance that higher accuracy and so it's overshadowed by throw, only good for having more dmg gags. Unless if the zap gags were considered, it'd be nice if zaps could do AoE/shock dmg to wet cogs. Squirt would also be nice to have some self heal, then it could actually be a gag track known for something other than tweaked throw gags. If someday TT were to progress into harder stuff, like what ODS is doing, minimal self heal would be a great survival perk and not overbearing TU, bc the Techbot servers, for ex, rip off lots of laff and you'll need heavy TU anyway. I'd also like to think for the duration of a battle, overhealing could be a thing. There needs to be more cog factories/mints/DAs/CGs that can range from "easy for the new toons" (~50 laffers) to "for those who need more points and less boredom" (100+ laffers). I want to see random hits and misses be replaced by skill shots, like Undertale's attack mechanic (I can't think of a better ex). If this could be a thing, gag accuracy increase could also be a cool thing to implement (whether as gags, SOS cards, task benefits, who knows). TT has lots of potential to grow, there are so many ideas that could better the game. Too many ideas.

I thought of Flash the other day... it lowers cog accuracy and also stuns them for Drop and higher other-gag accuracy by blinding their sensors. Gags could be like a small camera flash, lightning strike (which you have in Zap), light reflected by mirror, big flash (like at a photoshoot), strobe light... not in order, just ideas. It's not terribly useful, no one would be like "wow I really want that gag over all others" bc it mostly does what lure and normal gags already do... i just thought the motions could be cute lol Um... maybe Flash could replace Lure?? As a more balanced alternative?

Sense we mainly have damage gags, how about making them do mare and less damage base on the type of cog, like if sell bot cogs take more damage from throw and squirt, but less from sound.

If I had to say, I would add a track that has defensive properties. Have them do minimal damage but increase the chances of Cogs missing their attacks. Call it the "Flash track" for lack of a better title. I think to help compensate, make the cogs even tougher at higher levels with more health and possibly more damage.

I have 2 ideas first a track that does high damage and high accuracy but does damage back to the user and or the group My second idea is a track that would restock 1-3 gags and the different moves would be different gag tracks to restock but it would miss half the time

I always thought about a Tricks gag track. I've not thought it out thoroughly lol but you know how on Looney Tunes, for example, sometimes a toon would paint a facade onto a wall in order for the "enemy" to run into it and Splat! Not sure how well it would really work into Toontown, but I think it would definitely fit in with the existing ones! Lol

Knock back gags like after the cogs arw lured u can prep the them so when u use throw or squirt u get a bigger or better knock back bonus . Gr8 for taking out lv 12s while soloing.

I think level 8 gags should have 10% more damage than level 7 gags and also have higher accuracy. For example a level 8 drop would be medium accuracy and a level 8 sound would be perfect accuracy.

I once had an idea for a gag track called knock out. knock out gags would be like the punching glove in a box gag and would knock a cog out in a cartoony way for one whole round. Because it was powerful it would have low accuracy. I do not think this is a good idea because it sounds too similar to stunning a cog with lure. Part of me thinks that if new gags were added there should also be more cog attacks added to make things more fair and challenging. Also I always wanted a bear trap trap gag. the lure would be pressing a button and bag on money appears in the trap and the cog reaches out to grab it and gets his hand caught in the trap. one more I love to see given to a cog is the ability to steal gags in mid battle. maybe steal gags could be a thing? gives toons the ability to steal cogs attacks or steak back their own gags if they get taken from cogs.

Bear Trap was an idea for a new trap gag on ttcc, but it didn't make the cut. Cog stealing gags is an interesting idea for an unique attack, especially now that Robber Barons can do Pickpocket.

thank you and that is a shame it didn't make that cut. I think it would have been both cool and funny to see. I still wish there was a punching glove in the game but sadly it's hard to find a purpose for it. another idea I had was defense/shield gags that could be used once per round to protect against cog attacks. Something else I always wanted to see was playable characters getting randomly abducted by cogs and other players would have to save them. Opposed to a normal sos. The reward could be a new gag that could be used once like a boost of sorts.

A Dummy track. It spawns a Dummy toon to help you in battle. Depending on the level (1-7) the Dummy Toons have different gags. Level 1 Dummy Toon would have basic gags, Level 2 Dummy Toon would have a bit better gags and so on. The gags are chosen randomly to make it fair.

I would like to see a dodge track that works like the cogs always miss SOS card. Maybe like lure so it alternates between single cogs and all cogs and lasts more rounds the higher up it goes. The level 7 could affect all toons in battle with you, like the card does currently.

Even if they add a new track to TTR at all, you would have the choice to have the new track and what ever gag track you were missing before the new track came out. For my toon, it would be drop but the reason they shouldn't do that is because if you choose to have all the OG tracks you would be insanely over powered unless they get those higher level cogs.

I would say adding new gags would work as long as the balance of having only 6 gag track remain. It would make for a more diverse amount of toons in combat.

I think there should be a situation where clothings themselves do bonus and negative effects with gags, similar to what megasnoop talked about, but with that in mind, organic gags can be also changed so there is atleast some balance with this consept.

my idea for a gag: how about a gag simalar to throw or squirt but you get the higher gags after you beat a higher cog... like say if you defeated a lvl 1 flunky with a flower then getting the next gag up the tier after its defeat

This might not be a good idea, but I think there should be a Flash gag track. It will have the same stats as throw, but it will have you take some damage. I have some ideas for those gags if this was actually in TTCC: Level 1: Flashlight (one cog) Level 2 : Camera (one cog) Level 3 : Broken Lamp (all cogs) Level 4 : Firecrackers (all cogs) Level 5 : Old Camera (all cogs) Level 6 : Egyptian Spell (all cogs) Level 7 : Signal Light (all cogs) Level 8 : Sun Ray (one cog) Is this good?

A defense gag that depending on the tier, allows you or your team mates to be safe for a turn or be dealt less damage. Accuracy decreases every turn.

Maybe have a gag track idea where you take a bit of your luffa and deal x2 the damage that you took from your laffs to the cog health. Example: When using a max lvl 1 gag, you used 2 of your laffs point to deal 4 damage to the cog.

Why? Squirt Flower does that for free. Would it be perfect accuracy? Would the ratio get better over time? What are the benefits to this gag? If it gets up to Level 6 gags do you really want to deal 100 damage to yourself to kill a 12?

Ok here me out Loopity Goopity, Stench gags or Smell gags. Gags that do good damage however over 3 rounds. The first hit could do the most damage while the other two would be weaker. I feel like I've seen the idea of a damage over time gag however fire doesnt make much sense but I feel that smell and stench lines would fit in quite nicely with Toontown cartoony world.

*CLICK READ MORE* Magic (A toon does tricks and tricks cogs into giving you jellybeans, it could also double as a healer too, but less than toonup, since you also get some jellybeans, the amount of jbs earned gets pushed up for every new gag, that’s probably obvious but still) Steal (Take Laff from cogs) Push (Unlure cogs, but it would have to have a counter part, maybe it can make Drop more accurate?) Fire (A parallel to Squirt) Light (Blinds cogs and makes missing more possible, lure would probably be the better choice, but it would be nice to have if you ever ran out of Hypno Goggles) Zap (A parallel to squirt, if they are used on the same round, it doubles the Zap Gag Power, not sure how the other Zap gags worked though)

Back in ttpa, Zap gags originally had lower damage and accuracy, but did 2x damage (now at 3x) with increased accuracy against cogs soaked by Squirt gags (or rain), and had a chance to short-circuit(insta-kill) a cog. Zap's ability is currently being reworked in ttcc.

Ok I am sorry Lopatamus Gooparoni but Magic gags could be interesting as a type of buff and debuff gag. There could be a gag that increases accuracy for toons or a gag that decreases gag damage. I feel like a straight up attack up should be avoided because it would either be useless or overpowered with no inbetween. However I believe that all the gags should do different things and put different effects on the toons or cogs. For instance you could have the previously mentioned accuracy bonus but also have some sort of drain buff where a toon can get 25% of the damage they did to a cog back as a toonup. These gags could be a way of implementing gag ideas that aren't interesting enough to be there own gag track but still have the ability there. One of the biggest things I hate about gags is when they're lvl'd up, the weaker ones are useless, esp dmg gags. At best, TU's lipstick is still ideal even with a maxed track, but never needed when a toon already has 7 pixie dusts. $1 lure is great since out of the 8 trees a toon can plant, it's the best lvl 1 organic utility gag. Your idea is awesome, it's a UTILITY GAG TRACK. And a lvl 1 utility gag can get stronger as you max out the track, letting each gag be balanced as well as same amount of storage. Maybe one of them be a shield (or bubble to block a single attack)? 1) Exp Up 2) Accuracy Up 3) Laff Steal 4) Bubble 5) Dmg/Def Up 6) Overheal 7) Gear Collector (boosts merits/bucks/notes/ops) No particular order. Some are best for long boss battles, some are best for short battles.

I take this idea from Earthbound Why not have some gag tracks that don't necessarily have to go all the way to max level like a gag track that maybe only has two or three variations such as a power boost or a shield or something like that? In Earthbound, the common PSI move generally goes from alpha (weakest) to omega (strongest variation of the move) but there are some moves such as Teleport or Shield that only have like one or two variations of the move because the move itself is too self explanatory and simple to the point where it doesn't NEED to have 6 other stronger variations of the move. That kind of stuff makes movesets or whatever you want to call it more interesting in my opinion..
