Today we will be installing the Dasaita G12 Andriod Stereo Head Unit onto my 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma (2016-2023). This stereo upgrade includes a multitude of updated features, including wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 10.2" QLED touchscreen, exceptional sound quality & customization, and a very intuitive interface design.

I did end up modifying the included trim around the head unit. I modified the Tacoma LIfestyle Center Console Overly to make it fit the aftermarket trim panel and I also installed my TacoRail (from 67 Designs).

Great video and a nice lower cost option than Alpine, Kenwood, etc. How is the sound quality? Can you notice a significant improvement in sound quality over the factory head unit?

The sound quality is slightly better than stock. It's a minimal improvement, but it is still noticeable 😁👍. I really enjoy all of the features this head unit has to offer. The only downside that I can think of is that sometimes it can be hard to navigate menus, as there are a ton of different options for the features available. Other than that, I am very happy with this setup so far 😁👍.

Sorry for the late reply. I will need to check, as I don't know the answer for sure yet... I do know that when I use Google Maps via Android Auto, it shows me a speed limit display... I just don't know if it also gets incorporated to the factory speed limit display...

Good to know! I'll start working on a new video going over all the features & functions 😁👍. As far as wifi goes, you can do both. You can choose to use a dedicated SIM card, or you can tether to your phone. So far, this head unit is still performing flawlessly. No issues experienced 😁👍.

@chuckdemarinis thanks for the update... I see what you are referring to now. I think one of the factory connectors was for the factory auxiliary port. I can't remember what the other connector was for... These last 2 factory connectors aren't needed for this setup, and I just tucked them away with the rest of the wiring harnesses. I'm not exactly sure why your sim card is not working properly, but you may need to perform an update, as per this article here: www.dasaita.com/community/forum/topic/121788/g12-new-function-4g-lte-phone-calls I would check to make sure your Build Number is after December 2023, and the current MCU version is 4.09 or later. I would also recommend contacting Dasaita for support in regards to this issue to see if they can help pinpoint what the issue might be. I wish I could offer more help to get things moving faster, but hopefully Dasaita will find a resolution for you soon so that you can get your data features up and running asap.

How did you modify the trim overlay? Did you need to cut it? I recently installed the same unit and the color of the trim is driving me crazy

Yes, I laid the overlay on top and noticed the areas where the overlay contacted the trim / screen. Then, I made small cuts (mostly in the corner sections around the screen) I repeated this process several times until I was happy with the fitment. There are some imperfections, but you can't really notice them unless you are really looking... It took a while. Just be patient and make small cuts / sanding / etc. A dremel tool could definitely make the job easier. I hope this info helps! 😁

Just got mines n installed it so far it’s good but theres cons 1. when in backup camera music cuts off , 2 when im recording while playing music you cannot hear the music in your video from the radio. Anyone know how to fix?

I know you can change the settings for the audio level while in reverse (it's either in system settings or it's in the software settings - you'll want to look up the instructions on how to access the software settings). As far as the audio issue is concerned while recording, I am not sure at the moment. I haven't played around with recording features, so I will need to do some research to see if I can find an answer for you.

How is the resolution quality of the screen? Any screen door effect going on?

The screen resolution is great 😁👍. I don't remember the resolution specs at the moment, but it's a major step up from the factory head unit. I even like the improvement that the screen has when in reverse... you get a bigger picture in reverse, and even though the reverse camera limits the screen quality, it is much easier to see the details... ... and no, there is no screen door effect 😁👍

I understand. I have a Sony head unit in my civic (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) that works really well. Since I have both, I can tell you that the Dasaita had unit performs just as well as the Sony head unit. Dasaita's head unit just has more features available should you want to utilize any of them. I know at least the WiFi antenna is required for wireless CarPlay, as it uses a combination of Bluetooth and wifi connection to work instead of a strictly Bluetooth connection.
