This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Violence against women plagues every country in the world. Fortunately, the problem and the solutions are similar. This talk discusses the four concrete steps that are necessary to combat this epidemic.
Cindy Dyer serves as the Vice President of Human Rights at Vital Voices Global Partnership where she leads the organization’s efforts to address all forms of violence against women. Cindy specializes in working with women leaders to develop effective legal frameworks that address sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Prior to joining Vital Voices in 2009, she served as the Director of the United States Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women where she served as the liaison between the Department of Justice and Federal, State, and International governments on crimes involving violence against women. Cindy was nominated to this position by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate.
Cindy has extensive international training experience and has worked in more than a dozen countries to improve the criminal justice system’s response to gender-based violence. She was a specialized domestic and sexual violence prosecutor for 13 years and has received numerous awards and recognition for her service to victims. Cindy served for 10 years as a member of the Public Policy Committee of the Texas Council on Family Violence and she was a weekly hotline volunteer for 9 years at a shelter for battered women and their children.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

What a terrific talk! Most important take-away for me: Men must have zero tolerance for the violence of other men and actively work to prosecute all violence. It's not on the victims to fix this problem; it's on all of us. Thank you for all your work, Cindy!

Henry, you might like the book Pedagogy of the Oppressed. I enjoyed this as well. It's interesting how many women on this comment section are against what is being said.

It's likely that you are sincere, Henry, but we need to tackle violence against both men and women. Cindy only cares about her own gender.

Thank you for delineating the abusers playbook. My abuser pitted one of my children against the other to get charges against him dropped. The district attorney then called me and asked me if I had mental health problems. I had no idea that the system that was supposed to protect me and my children was actually a large part of the problem.

We are all inter-connected. What are we doing in our family, community, society as a whole? How are we raising our children- boys & girls? How do we treat our co-workers and employees? Do we respect others? All the little things sometimes adds up.

The dialogue on Domestic Violence has been shifted to a false narrative and evil feminist lie. Erin Pizzey, who started the first domestic violence shelter in the modern world, has been quite vocal on how the feminist man-hate movement overtook the Domestic Violence help movement. She has spoken out as to how they turned it into a man hating lie based movement. She could see 40 years ago DV wasn't a gender issue. Decades later all the studies prove this out. Time to start the long process of looking at our species and how we allowed our love of women to circumvent human decency, honesty and justice on many fronts.

***** : I am more worried about women's violence against their children. So was Erin Pizzey, by the way. I have a hunch that motherly violence may be the cause of anorexia among girls, and of ADHD among boys. As a teacher I see a correlation, but I can't figure out the mechanism behind their strong resistance against developing into adulthood.

How can I join the move to raise awareness of Domestic Violence/abuse? I'm trying but hitting brick walls of even churches who refuse to see or address this. I desire to have an educational center to improve their lives, not just shelter them.

How can I find proper help for a disabled person that was swindled by the court officers?
@janefavreau1869
@janefavreau1869 4 жыл бұрын
Information I needed years ago.... before the court officers were able to swindle me out of my life savings and right to have an advocate when in court due to my disabilities .... so the court gave the man that attempted to kill me ended up with my half of the family assets besides his half too, even though he was arrested, taken to trial (without me being noticed of the day or time) found guilty, sentenced to a year in jail, and ordered to pay me restitution.... but the court failed to make that happen........ and he ended up with my half too.! Malfeasance took place in the local court with flawed orders made by the rogue attorney and signed by rogue judge.

Interesting. In my opinion, Hillary did not HELP by insulting MOST the countries that to send a "woman" is an insult. If the man of that country allows a woman to speak in their place. So both the most powerful people of our governing stats... insulted countries. Verses did the ambassadorship that is needed by EXAMPLES of honoring each of the country's traditions. It would seem that NEWS only is bought and paid for. And I as a woman have NOTED that men IN AMERICA of all races ages and creeds are treating woman with LESS RESPECT. PERIOD. Are we the most selfish, spoil t, demanding, righteous country that preaches EQUALITY yet is reverting to the manners of pre-civil war tword woman. Woman's suffrage is SUFFERING again.
