I well remember the sound of these idling when we used to go to the city, my visit to the Adelaide dental hospital orthodontist in about '84!

Kind of nostalgic these days. 0:53 - Vinnies got destroyed by fire that started in adjacent 'Confi Bar' in 2006. 1:05 - Arndale underwent a mass refurbishment as it entered the 2010s. 2:10 - Paradise Interchange still has the same shelters 3:48 - Stopped on Brian Grove, Paradise

Imagine of they fitted ZFs like the B58s. Such an advanced bus and they stick such an old transmission to it. I like the two speed but thus deserves a better spread of gears.

I quite liked them.....they were sort of like driving my early model volkswagon when compared to newer airconditioned vehicles. I used to love putting my left foot up on the dash and letting the fresh air coming through the front window vents cool me down in the heat of the summer. Very comfortable to drive and beautifully responsive, almost an extension of one's embodiment as opposed to the electronically isolated environment of their replacements. The vinyl back seat was always good for a nap.

Bus 1300 has been parked at Mile End Depot (April 2013). You can see it from the Richmond Rd fence. The poor old bus is in a very sorry state. It would be good to move it to the St Kilda Tramway museum where it could be restored to it's former glory.

Looks almost like a GMC New Look in the front plus it's engine sounds almost similar to the Series 50! Approved :-)

Get some old channel 7 logos on one of these, with the SA Great Logo, and a huge picture of Anne Wills, and cruise around Adelaide

do you know its old fleet number? if not would it be possible to get the info from the plate as we track these buses and their life down in our fleet lists.

Wooriwarren sums it up, I think they were the last of the buses the driver drove, the newer ones are too insulated from the outside world, same with modern cars, they give no 'feedback' of what's happening. Much better ride quality than modern buses as well, not smoother they banged and bumped around but they felt much more secure to standing passengers, without the body roll of some newer buses. The latest MAN fleet are horrendous, chuck city if you up the back of the stadium seated saloon.

I hated the MAN SL200's, noisy and rough trans, indicators had a loud buzzer, one morning on the way to school, a woman driver would leave indicator going while loading passengers, I got off at stop 13 Hartley Rd and wait for next one, my sisters friend drove past and and it got back to my parents I was at stop 13, I got accused of stalking ex girlfriend who lives at the previous stop (14), I said the indicator buzzer was driving me nuts, I was sitting up the back

In the early 2000's a man gave me a newspaper and lit up a ciggy on a MAN SL200, the driver smelt smoke and angrily asked who's smoking?, the guilty man said not me, that was a 275 bus on Marion Rd Richmond
