This is originally a song by Utopia and was written by Todd Rundgren, John Wilcox, and Roger Powell. There are so many hallmarks of a Todd Rundgren song even in this cover. I think both are fantastic.

TodRundgren. One of the best songwriter/musician and producers of our time. Something/Anything was his first solo album with "Hello, it's me". Another incredible under rated singer songwriter who influenced Todd, Joni Mitchell , Elton John, etc... was Laura Nyro. Lots of other people had hits with her songs, Barbra Striesand, 5th Dimenson, Three Dog Night, etc...

There is a great live version of this song from around 1978 on the Mike Douglas show performed by Utopia. Hello Harri! Hope you’re doing well. My older brother (by 10 yrs) first introduced me to ED&JFC back in 1976 . I was 9 going on 10. I miss my brother .He passed away in 2012. Love is the answer has followed me my whole Life. It's just one of those tracks. This version is the best. Listen to the production You are correct that was a soprano sax. On one of the message boards a lady said her father played the sax fills in the studio during the recording. CINDY MORGAN a Christian artist covered the song in 2000. It's a pretty good cover.

Heyyy! Yes!, I couldn't have put it any "Sweeter!" When I was a child like 10 or 12 years old, our family would goto Florida for two weeks, fun in the sun Daytona Beach from Detroit area! I would count the days, and when that magical day came to go, this song was always playing on every, & I mean EVERY , Staition! I WOULD sit in the back seat relaxing and watching the towns go buy, oratmying the light of the world touched each town we drove thru! Then I'd hear it in Fla. On people's radio 📻 on the beach ⛱️ or in the air conditioning stores I'd buy my souvenirs for my buddies at!😊 ❤ such fond memories touched my soul with this since 1978' I was 8 or 12 ish when it git the airwaves,! I begged my mom to buy it on 45 record! A Christmas present 🎁 or birthday 🎂 perhaps, didn't matter I felt lucky to ever hear this and it stood the test of time, wars. School shootings, prudential attempted assanations, or just world anger, this song ,( bottled lightning 🌩) had the answers!!! Love this! And I'm a new subscriber to!!

Harri... you're not wrong! This should be in regular rotation on everyone's playlist! One of those things that just can't be described but only experienced to fully appreciate it's beauty. When Huey Lewis was asked to write a song for the movie, Back To The Future, he wrote POWER OF LOVE. When he was still performing, they would end their shows with it and Huey always gave thanks to Steven Spielberg for asking him.

In the 60's England Dan and John Ford Coley were in the band named Southwest F. O. B. and released a good psyche album with a cover of the song Smell of Incense(1968) that was written and performed by the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band(1967). Love is the Answer was on the Utopia album called Oops Wrong Planet(1977) with the cover by E. D. and J. F. C.(1979).
