This song was released in the summer of '77...I remember listening to it with my first love just a month before we went our separate ways. Beautiful vocals by the late Dan Seals. Nice selection, Daniel Volk!

Pretty much every song this duo did immediately connects me to one individual and a specific memory. Saw them perform live at the Bahai' Temple in Wilmette, IL. Odd religion but the concert was first rate in a fairly tiny venue.

Were Dan's brother and Crofts playing there as well? Saw Seals and Crofts twice, and both times after the show, they invited people to stay and hear their beliefs. Different message, but uplifting. Glad I stayed both times.

@@garyarnett1220 Dan and John both stayed after the concert and met fans one on one and had conversations. I spoke briefly with Dan and actually ended up reading The Prophet at his recommendation.

So often people find the “right one” only to find the one they left was really the right one. Don’t let a fling ruin a good thing.

It happened to me. I was with someone else, and the right one came along. I left, and spent 30 beautiful years with the right one, until I lost him last year to cancer. We would have spent 30 more years together if we could have.

I understand your comments, Harri, but the song isn't really clear about how well he knew this new "love of his life" -- was it a quick meeting, and he was completely enchanted by her looks? Or did they have an hours-long conversation and he realized they share the same soul? Makes a bit of a difference, eh?

Thanks for reaching to this one, sir, & for your insights. Yeah, seems if folks stay together when they'd really rather be with someone else, it just results in bitterness & pain for both. For another viewpoint on the issue, you may want to check out "Midnight Confession", by the Grass Roots, if you haven't already. Again, really enjoyed your reaction!

I agree Harry. What if the situation were turned around. If you decided to stay then the other person meets the right one and leaves you! Something to think about!

I think alot of people have felt this.... I'd do as the singer did, stay in the relationship, but let the other party know, and see where the chips land. And there's the fact that YOU made a commitment , stay true to your word for yourself.

Love this song. I think it's one of their best. Glad to hear someone reacting to this one instead of...Really love to see you tonight... I don't dislike that one but it seems to be the only hit they are given credit for. They have many other great songs such as this one. Thanks Harri love your channel.

Harri Dan Seals is the younger brother to Jim Seals of Seals and Crofts. I can't remember if you have reacted to them. Their biggest hit was Diamond Girl. Also Hummingbird , Dust on my Saddle and Ruby Jean and Billie Lee. I think you will enjoy them.

Thanks, I love the song. Dan Seals was a great singer. So sad when he died. Harri got a little too deep into it. 😉 But he is the best so who am I to argue with Prince Harri. 🤴

There is a saying and I am not sure who said it but it goes like this " Most men lead lives of quiet desperation." That is where this guy is at.

I love this type of soft rock music from the 70's. England Dan & John Ford Coley had a lot of great hits. You've done a few already. Will suggest "Nights Are Forever Without You", "Gone Too Far", "It's All Up To You", "We'll Never Have To Say Goodbye Again", "You Can't Dance", “What Can I Do With This Broken Heart”, “Where Do I Go from Here” etc.

"Why Do I Have To Choose" by Willie Nelson addresses this dilemma in a totally unique way. "Why do I have to choose, see everybody lose, walk around and sing the blues; well, darling, I refuse." A lot of people want to have their cake and eat it, too, and the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Monogamy, I think, goes against human nature, especially for well-traveled musicians who meet so many people along the way. Love can be so fickle and true commitment is both a chore and a choice. And as you said, children should play a part in whatever decision their parents make.

If you stay in a relationship just so you aren't alone you will resent that person. Don't jump into a commitment. Wait for the right person. It is not fair to anyone.
@JackleenaO2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Harri; just leave. It's not fair to the person you're with if you're that desperately in love with someone else. Song suggestion: Statue of a Fool. 😉

You are right. You will never be happy. And you will resent them. You can never give them the full love they desire and deserve. But then to hurt them. Thats bad too.

No doubt he thought at the time the one he's with was the right one. He needs to think this thing through. What if the shoe was on the other foot and he was on the low end of the relationship. Commitment is an important part of life.

I don't think you can "fall in love" with someone else without allowing yourself to be available. You weren't minding your Ps and Qs. You were starting to stray, relaxing your commitment, long before you allow yourself to notice that new perfect someone.
