What I enjoyed the most about the Moodies and other 60's and 70's band, is the music and lyrics are deeper than the music we have now. The lyrics, the harmonies, the arrangements all take the listener to different places and the listener feels it in their soul. I feel their music.

In 2018 they toured the US with the 2nd set being Days of Future Passed from beginning to end. There's a video, CD and download of their performance in Toronto that year. I did see one of their very lasts concerts in Vegas of 2018, after this tour Graeme retired and John & Justin went their separate ways. Justin has been doing acoustic shows, mostly in the US and John has a new band and is touring he did so prior to the pandemic and has several dates booked for next month. He also released new music and he has vinyl, CD and downloads of his new music and his solo concerts. John is the closest concert that represents the Moody Blues as he includes songs from Mike, Ray, Justin's Nights and Graeme recorded rendition of Late Lament. I've seen both Justin and John's solo concerts.

It's nice when someone gets it right. Moody Blues were the forefathers that set the bar for future prog rockers. Yes was next, and you know what they did for prog. It was incredible to be there at that begining, and witnessed the changes over the decades.

Hi, thanks for reacting to The Moody Blues again. My favorite group! This is a demo version of "The Story in Your Eyes" not the studio version from the Every Good Boy Deserves Favour album however. The Moodies first seven albums are meant to be listened to in their entirety. Highly recommend if you ever have a chance ... Days of Future Passed 1967, In Search of the Lost Chord 1968, On the Threshold of a Dream 1969, To Our Children's Children's Children 1969, A Question of Balance 1970, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour 1971 & Seventh Sojourn 1972 (my personal favorite). I have been a massive Moody Blues fan since 1967 when Days of Future Passed was released in England. The album wasn't released in the US until 1968, but I bought a copy, & wore it out. I especially love their first five albums, but Seventh Sojourn, & Octave were also very good. I was never as much a fan after Mike Pinder left the band after the recording of Octave in 1978. I didn't follow the band after they changed their music to keep up with the 80's, & 90's. The Moody's were the first rock band to record with a Philharmonic Orchestra, & they were also the first band to use a Meletron, which could replicate many Orchestra sounds.

@@keithjones7390 We are definitely like minded. To our Childrens.... is also my favorite album. I also really love New Horizons. That is a beautiful song. I can put my Days album on my old Pioneer turntable and turn up my old Pioneer receiver hooked to old JBL speakers that I had when Seventh Sojourn came out, and get lost in their music all the way through Octave. I really like the song Driftwood on that album. Then there are the solo albums and the albums John Lodge and Justin Hayward put out like Blue Jays. I love the song Blue Guitar but my copy of Blue Jays is an earlier one and doesn't include that song. When my wife and I got married one of our songs was "For My Lady" written and sang by the late great Ray Thomas and off of the Seventh Sojourn album. There are far too many great songs to ever try to pick out a favorite. The Moody's were way ahead of their time. I was fortunate enough to see them six times before Mike Pinder left and five times after. They never disappointed.

Driving home ftom Western Carolina, DEC. 1972, it was lightly snowing and cold as I made my way on I-40 for the 7 hour drive back to Wilson, NC; I hwsrd this dong for the first time. it was beyond spiritual. The essence of moodiness, of winter, of gray skies and cold but uplifting and otherwordly. Songs like this got me safely home after 7 hours of hard, yearningful driving. It was the music that was the story in my eyes and heart. God bless the Moody Blues.

A big part of the Moody Blues is for me Mike Pinder and his Melotron, putting a specialy atmosphere to the music. Also one of the few groups that had lyric with a meaning. Their 1969 LP To Our Children's Children's Children is my favorite Lp by them......with songs like Candle Of Life, Eternity Road, Out And In, Watching And Waiting just to name a few.

The Moody Blues a great innovative band so far ahead of their time. To my ears I can hear that classic Moody Blues sound sends me straight back to the late 60's early 70's golden era of music. The Moody Blues one of those bands where you can choose 20 songs of theirs and get 20 different sounds and styles. most of the bands from the late 60's and 70's were able to do that because they were allowed to experiment with their sound. Not like a lot of todays bands where their sound all has to sound the same, very little experimentation.

My favorite Moodys song is "Melancholy Man". It's definitely NOT a rocker. But I love the descending melody line, and the countermelody part where they sing the verse and the chorus at the same time. Top it off with "The Balance" and it's the perfect end to yet another awesome Moodys album.

This is my favorite band since 1972 freshman year at Rutgers University, New Jersey USA. I’ve met them several times over the decades. You must listen to their album Days of Future Passed. It’s the first concept album about the day in the life of one man. When music was available on albums we would turn off the lights, have plenty of candles and incense plus adult beverages and a bit of herb. When you’re by yourself you listen on headphones and read along with the lyrics and studied the album artwork. 🥰🎸🎶❤️

Every Good Boy Deserves Favour is my favorite of the Moody Blues Magnificent Seven albums, which range from Days of Future Past to Seventh Sojourn. But as another commenter said, these are albums which truly need to be listened by album sides. Particularly this track off of the album itself. The album opener, the mostly instrumental Procession, feeds directly in to The Story In Your Eyes, and then is reprised in One More Time to Live, the side 2 opener. I do hope you'll choose to listen to the Magnificent Seven in chronological order, if only on your own time. The Moody Blues takes their audience on a musical and spiritual journey as they progress through each of the seven albums.

They've been my favorite group forever. I've seen them almost ten times. One time was in the Gorge at George, in such a breathtaking landscape, and the concert fit in perfectly! An outdoor amphitheater in Eastern Washington near the Columbia River, with a canyon down below for a backdrop. I got the lawn seats, up and beyond the stage and rows of chairs. We kicked back and gazed up as the stars came into view, just after a pretty sunset beyond. And the Moody Blues playing along with the Spokane Orchestra. It was exhilarating!

I still have this album and one of my fav groups growing up. They had beautiful spiritual lyrics and their music did tell a story. They recently retired, and two of their founding members have passed. They kept 4 of the original members in the group for over 45 years, amazing. It took forever to get them in the RRHoF in 2018. They started out in 1964 and took like 3 years off but other than that, have been together in that time. Lots of great songs to explore with them. Another one like this is I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll band.

sometimes songs, or "pieces" are meant to be played together. the moodies often opened their albums with a poem or a "piece" that precedes the opening song. they blend into one another virtually making one song. this album began with a piece called "progression" that gives the lead in song, "the story in your eyes," an added awe-inspiring punch. too bad you missed it. its great!

Reminds me of myself and my stack of 45’s. Good thing those players also could handle full size albums too. I clearly remember being 12 or 13 when my buddy’s older sister saw us messing with little pop 45s and went and brought us three albums to blow our minds - Cream, Traffic and Jimi Hendrix. That was quite a leap forward and got us on track for the epic early 70’s music like the Moodies, as our sound systems got bigger and bigger. What a great era to grow up !

Alternate version. Justin plays a great guitar solo on stage with this piece. Seen them 22 times - together and also their solo tours. The 2018 Wynn Vegas (9 nights) was their last gig and commemorated 50 years. It was bittersweet as I had the sense this was going to be it. R&R HOF - finally.

I was at the 2018 Wynn show as well - the next to last night. Traveled from Connecticut. Had a strong feeling this would be their final public appearance and would not miss it for the world. So glad I made the trip. Saw the Moodies live something like twenty five times from 1978 thru 2018.

Please read this comment as I'm searching for, I'm not sure what. But this really happened to me. I had what might have been a dream, but no matter how vivid a dream seems at the time, you wake up and always know it was a dream. This was different. I woke up changed. I just got back from somewhere. A place of light and the most wonderful feeling and love. I heard a song playing to me, and I felt the most powerful presence around me. It was so bright and powerful like I was standing in the core of the Sun, but there was no pain. Eyes wide open I felt nothing but love, from an entity infinity greater than me. Back in "reality", in the following weeks I tried to play the song I heard on my guitar by ear. My dad heard me playing it and he said "I didn't know you knew that song". I was like "You know this song? What is it?". He got the moody blues album Octave and played a song called "the day we meet again". That was it, that was the song but now I could hear the lyrics. "The day we meet again, I'll be waiting there, Ill be waiting there for you". That really happened to me. "The day we meet again" from the Octave album is available on KZbin. It obviously has great meaning for me, I wonder what others might get from it.

That's a very different mix than the original album version. It is best to hear this song with the into song "Procession". Procession give a tour of the history of music in about 4 minutes then The Story in Your Eyes represents the current rock music.

I believe this is a demo and not the LP version. The LP version is cleaner production wise. Back in the day, I tripped to them many times.. My favorite band. I saw em three times.

I've never heard this vocal before, I must have only heard the single version but I thought that was off the album but its a great Moodies track anyway and shows that they could rock when they wanted to, great backing vocals on top of Justin's usual great guitar and vocal lead.
