Ok, a more fair comparison with the extinct thing wold be to look up the stats of the time and see if it would have been fair to predict extinction given the trending data of the time. Remember, groups were actively trying to prevent these extinctions. So this is more of a "This is what's going to happen if things continue as they are".

+Disthron True, and I briefly explained some of that immediately after showing the IUCN data... BUT, that's NOT what the game stated! The game flat out stated "will be extinct within the next ten years". No qualifiers, no exceptions, and presented it as "a matter of fact". Environmental predictions need to be worded extremely carefully so as not to get the wrong ideas across, and that one wasn't. :P

Yea, I posted that about half way through your talk about it. Though I don't agree that environmentalists being ultimately wrong about a prediction should necessarily hurt their credibility. Since it's easily explained much of the time by pointing to the efforts that were made to prevent that prediction. Anyway, thanks for responding it was a good video overall.

+Disthron Being wrong about a prediction only hurts credibility if you present it as "This is GOING to happen, period", which is unfortunately how some people go about doing it. Presenting a prediction and following up with workarounds and solutions to prevent that prediction from occurring is the better approach, even if just to say, "If we do nothing, this is what will happen." The line in Animal Quest could've been made way more credible if it simply started with "Unless steps are taken to prevent it,"

It was stupid to give it a date. Sooner or later, every single species will be extinct. Heat death of the universe is a a hard limit, but I'll guess a lot sooner.

Animals from the list, that did extinct: Western black rhinoceros Diceros bicornis longipes Sub-Saharan Africa 2011 - Yeah it was before this video came out, but it is black rhinoceros subspecies. But the game said 10 years. At least we made good steps to prevent others to extinct.

To be fair, that's the same year I put out this video and the best I can tell the declaration came mere weeks after I put my video out, but it's actually surprisingly difficult to figure out the exact date of the declaration because my research just now also shows that even though the declaration was in 2011, the actual year of extinction of the Western Black Rhinoceros was likely 2006. :o

@@alivesoft I know this comment is 2 years old, but who knows. So i also really want to replay this game, and I'd gladly pay for it. Unfortunately, all the emulated versions I found seem to only work with the mouse which is very very uncomfortable in a game like this. I remember using the arrow keys to move. Is there any info on whether keyboard controls work in this legacy bundle or not?
