ABOUT DR. ANDREW NEVILLE
Andrew Neville is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor. For over 20 years, he has assessed and treated patients with Adrenal Fatigue from all over the United States. A graduate of Bastyr University's Naturopathic School of Medicine, Dr. Neville interned under the pioneer in the field of Adrenal Dysfunction, Dr. Gerald Poesnecker.
Neville was a victim of Adrenal Fatigue himself. Getting through that devastating experience led him to the study of naturopathic medicine. He's now helped over 6,000 people overcome serious adrenal problems. You've likely been put through the wringer trying to find a way out from your adrenal nightmare, just as Dr. Neville was.

In addition to his connection with patients, Dr. Neville heals Adrenal Fatigue, a stress response system dysfunction. He focuses on healing the underlying cause of your debilitating symptoms:

Thank you again 🤍🌹 . Stress is horrible. I've never been out of fight or flight for more than a few days at a time. It's exhausting.

I pray that you find some solutions. I was there and I can emphasize with you. I was shallow breathing and in fight or flight for quite some time after a head injury. I ended up with Dsyautonomia and POTS. Electrolytes have definitely helped, and addressing my Adrenal Glands (B1 and Ashwagandha) has helped me as well. I'm focusing on breathing lately. And trying to "ground" myself. I hope this helps you.

You are so welcome! Our bodies are not meant to stay in fight or flight and when we do, there's tremendous damage throughout our bodies leading to incredible fatigue and a long list of symptoms. Thankfully, with proper assessment and guidance, it's all fixable! If you'd like to ask Dr Neville a question about your symptoms or just listen in and learn more about his approach, he's hosting a live Q&A event this Thursday, August 22nd at 4:00 PM eastern. Additionally, Dr Neville's free community group is an awesome resource - I hope you'll join us there! facebook.com/groups/healingadrenalfatigueholistically/ ~ Kim, Community Coordinator

The video raises an important point about the origins of ADHD and how stress impacts brain function. It highlights the need for a balanced approach to treatment, suggesting that while medications can help, managing chronic stress and improving lifestyle are crucial for long-term well-being. It’s a good reminder that addressing root causes is essential for effective treatment and brain health.

Is it the origin of it? I know that if I take an MRI, my brain is different in size. That my brainwaves are on the Alpha instead of the Beta dial of activity. That if I have a functional brain scan test, that my pre-frontal cortex is not wired the same. If I look at my DRD1, DRD2, DRD3 and DRD4 Genes, that I have variants in all of them, I know that personally, B6, may be low. I know that taking methylfolate s really impressing me, the bioavailable form of B9 because my genes say that there could be an issue processing this vitamin. I know that if I measure my cortisol processing system that I process cortisol slowly, so I can be on "high alert" and hypervigilant longer than other folks. I am only guessing that my Gaba is low, and needs supplementation because in Canada they don't have neurotransmitter tests via blood draw. I know that if I count the number of receptors for melatonin in my brain, that they are less than someone who isn't neurodivergent. Yet, I won't take melatonin, as there are other ways to improve it. I know that I have high food sensitivities including cherries, so sadly sour cherry is not going to be my go-to remedy for melatonin. Unless all these sources of research are all lies on Google Scholar's hits to send me down a rabbit hole full of supplements. I continue to struggle with consistency for exercise routines, lists, and alarms used to keep me on track This wonderful video has some wonderful information, for me though, it is an additional piece of the puzzle to the collection on my spreadsheet of what else I need to comb through. Perhaps I will spend a whole life time before I can get my projects done? My mother died and left behind boxes of cut out patterns for clothes that never got finished being sown. ** N.B. Folate, can be dangerous, you need to really know that you are low in this stuff before you take it. just know that here in Canada, they don't measure they just prescribe.

This is a thought provoking way to look at ADD/ADHD. As a child therapist I think this is over diagnosed because there isn't an understanding of root causes. So much stress on childhood from not having free independent play, to too much screen time and poor nutrition. It's no wonder children's brains are not functioning at an epidemic level. I love this explanation of what happens to the brain udnres stress. This explains a lot of ADD/ADHD symptoms and gets to the root cause.

Interestingly, there’s a cluster of genes commonly found in individuals with ADHD. However, they often receive alternative diagnoses like anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder. Many take meds for these conditions, sometimes with worsening effects. Instead of addressing the root BIOLOGICAL cause, people may spend years in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) without significant progress. Properly assessing biological factors like neurotransmitters, cortisol levels, and aldosterone could lead to better insights and prevent potential harm to organs like the liver and kidneys, let alone stunt growth in children, or put us old people's hearts at risk.

It's true, there are often a lot of overlapping symptoms which can make it confusing for many doctors that are not focused on the root cause (because it's not taught in med school). Adrenal Fatigue is not the most scientifically accurate name, but it's all we've got for the time being. Dr. Neville say Allostatic Overload Syndrome is the best name for what happens to a chronically overstimulated stress response system. He discusses epigenetics in the video below - I hope it's helpful for you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYvLc4ZnYqZ2qq8si=OdB6d-L5wizXhFgy ~ Kim, Community Coordinator

I appreciate you sharing this information. Recently, I took a comprehensive neurotransmitter test that assessed my GABA levels, revealing an imbalance. My naturopath suggested GABA supplementation, which I tried for a while but eventually stopped. It’s interesting how ADHD symptoms can be similar in their complexity. Interestingly, my dopamine and serotonin levels fell within the normal range based on the test results. However, here in Canada, we lack specialized blood tests specifically for neurotransmitters, which can be frustrating. I’ve also noticed that no matter how much water I drink, my EGFR (glomerular filtration rate) remains low. I don’t consume alcohol except rarely. Despite being at the maximum weight for my height without being obese, I’m still uncertain about the underlying connections. Doctors sometimes look at me as if I have no clue about my own health. Recently, I’ve become curious about my brain health. My cardiologist did not raise concerns about low oxygen levels when I lie down. He dismissed it as I have bradycardia. It’s unsettling to think about my brain being affected by insufficient oxygen. My heart rate drops to under 54 beats per minute, and my oxygen level hovers around 91% when I lay down to sleep. Even with ‘normal low’ blood pressure, I wonder if aldosterone plays a role. Could our restless sleep somehow keep us alive by increasing heart rate and oxygen levels? Tossing and turning is common with ADHD. The cardiologist assured me that everyone experiences low oxygen when lying down, but I can’t help but question how low is too low. Has anyone explored the connection between aldosterone and GABA supplementation? Could bradycardia impact brain health? And what about the low blood volume affecting EGFR for kidney function? Our organs need oxygen, after all. Perhaps dementia could be a concern down the road. I firmly believe doctors should view us as whole individuals, not just body parts. Ontario’s health system could use some improvement. If anyone else feels the same, maybe we should join forces. I’m not a hypochondriac, but these chest pains at odd times worry me. I’ve never experienced them before, and while they’re bearable, I feel hesitant to go to the emergency room. I don’t want them to dismiss it as mere anxiety. Chronic stress never caused chest pains for me. I have become resilient due to it.
