This film, and all the BLACKMILK STUDIOs films are splendid. I do respect that 6 minutes versus 90 - 120 minutes of film is drastically different though. Its like a "cool proof of concept video game demo" versus a full fledged game. Tetra Vaal versus Chappie. A lot more to take on, a lot more planning, can't leave as much to the audience to imagine, staff, etc. just a lot more of _everything_ . With more funding as well comes more voices and opinions as well about how that money will be spent.

I’m a big sci-fi enthusiast, and these episodes are way above current Hollywood movies. You manage to tell enough so the audience understands the context, but also let enough space to figure some stuff out. It’s a perfect balance. Comparing a short film with a full length movie isn't the same, sci fi shorts work so well because the story tellers doesn't have the responsibility to conclude the tale. Id be more impressed if they managed to fill a 1 hour and 30 min movie using this concept

This is the future of entertainment. The big production companies no longer know how to tell a story. How to hook the audience and keep them interested. Everything today is fast edits and scene jumping. Dune is a masterful exception to this rule. Expansive environments. Extended shots that keep you fixated on the action. These smaller production houses are far more like that.
@charliebee51547 ай бұрын
Whenever I hear "this is the future of" anything, I always think : what about right now? Have you generated mass interest right now? They usually never have. Anywho, the format failed in the late 60's, 90's, late 00's, and it'll most likely fail again. It's not the future of amything yet.
@charliebee51547 ай бұрын
Oh, this is great though. :)
@kxvxn017 ай бұрын
Exactly. Most marvel or dc films have too many similar humor scenes, over used, cringe cgi that looks way too bad. Dune 1 and 2 are my favourite movies. Interstellar close behind. Those are true masterpieces. Tenet, Oppenheimer, John Wick, Equalizer are amazing too. But many big studios just dont deserve the money they have. They have too much, and start destroying themselves. As entertaining as the films can be sometimes, its just all the same and cringe. This is PURE ART

@Mindboggles6 ай бұрын
@@videolabguy A good story has a beginning, a middle, and an end < this does follow those specific criteria though... This might be an 'okay' story(youth would call it mid), instead of a 'good' one. (Mainly talking from a writing perspective in general, and not as a screenwriter) A few things come to mind, but the lack of a basic story beat is not the reason. You could argue that it lacks a conclusion, but that is by no means a requirement. If I were to guess, as a self-taught writer, the person writing is just winging it and is more interested in the filming and visual process. He'd benefit from having an actual writer on board. Even if it's only to go through his script and point stuff out. You do not have to do everything yourself :) Some people will do that for free, though there's a risk of them stealing ideas unless you write a contract.
@Mindboggles6 ай бұрын
@@beepboop8184 While it's not because of the reasons he stated, this isn't good writing. It's okay writing, and I am being a bit generous there. It's still a decent short film because it's made up for in other departments.

Criticisms about coherent story and the practicality of crossing hundreds of miles of biome while critically injured are justified but not really relevant.
