Adirondack canoe camping-10 days camping and trout fishing in the fall

We took a trip to the adirondacks for the last 10 days of the trout fishing season, another unforgettable trip. The weather was great, foliage was at peak colors, the fishing was a little bit slow, but I managed to net a beautiful brook trout that matched my personal best. 10 days in the wilderness of the Adirondacks ! Wow, y'all are some hearty folks, you 3 make a great team! That 18" fish was a Brook Trout?!!! I didn't know they got that big! Awesome! The colors were popping on this trip. I noticed your boat is a Prospector 16', I don't believe Nova Craft is currently making that model. It sure seems to be serving you guys well! Also, cool idea to bring the Dolly, especially for a 3 mile carry!!! thx again for sharing your well made videos!

Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated! Some brook trout get pretty big, I've gotten lucky enough to catch a few in this size range. Hoping to beat my record this year, which is 18". This canoe was our first, and we've had plenty of memorable trips with it, but we want to get something different this year. The boat can haul a lot of gear, but is terrible for fishing. It doesn't take much of a breeze to make it hard to troll with. And the outer gelcoat I've spent more time repairing than time out on the water. The dolly was a lifesaver for that 3 mile portage, I did not want to double carry our gear. Thanks again! Great video; I recognized some of the camps. I was up there mid-October last year. As I grow older, I end up camped on Floodwood Road quite a bit. I love the fall colors, and usually make it up there in late September through October. Nice 18 inch fish!!! If I see that yellow NovaCraft I will give you a shout next year.

Beautiful country,I live in Minnesota,been up to our Boundry Waters Canoe Area a few times,you all bring me back,l can smell the air.Btw,l am curious,how do you keep your meat fresh for those days,thanks for the video.

It usually stays cold 4 days or so depending on how warm it is outside. It does add a bunch of weight to our gear, but its nice to have a good meal at camp.

Two quick questions: 1) how do you register to camp remotely in the Adirondacks?, and 2) what maps do you recommend for navigation? Thanks!

You just have to sign in at the trailhead register of the area you're planning on staying, usually at the parking lot or a little bit into the trail. There are yellow "camp here" disc's at the designated campsites, or if you are disperse camping you have to be 150ft from the trail, or any body of water. As far as maps, the Adirondack paddlers map is great, it shows all portage trails, campsites, etc. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask, and thank you for watching- very much appreciated! @@NikonF5user this is true, the campsites are all free and go by a first come, first serve basis. Usually you can tell how easy or hard it will be to find a site based on how full the parking lot is. I try to go during the week when it's not quite as busy, some places get pretty packed during the weekend but aren't too bad during the week. The raquette river has quite a few tent campsites and lean-to sites as well. St. Regis Canoe Area is great, definitely one of our favorite destinations. There are a bunch of different places to launch from and so many different routes to take based on the amount of time you have to spend there.
