it'd be fun to list the beers you're trying too, in the same list/description section as your gear, you know? idk, as a deep craft beer dude myself, it looks like y'all aren't messing around, and could showcase it too. Either way, Cheers!

Butch, It’s been great to find your channel, and awesome of you to share some of these spots with your viewers. I have lived here my entire life, but just recently inherited my grandfathers canoe. I’m looking forward to getting my son out on the water with me, and watching your videos has allowed me to put together a little bucket list of trips that I can’t wait to get started on. Keep up the great work, very well put together content, and adventures. Cheers 🍻

Hi John. Thanks for the nice note. And I'm glad my videos were of some use. I have several exciting trips planned for this season. Have a great time with your son... I am sure you will make some great memories out there.

Another great edit. Nothing beats a hot breakfast in the morning on a canoe trip. That current keeps getting worse the closer to long lake you get.
@CanoeCampClimb2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. When I watched your video paddling upstream on the Raquette I knew what you guys were experiencing... that current is stronger than it looks. It was ripping around some of those tight turns. The paddle back to Axton Landing took less than half the time. Breakfast was damn good... but I have to say those sausage sandwiches we had for dinner tasted amazing. Cheers.

haha Thank you. I put an extra piece of bacon in Mike's hammock underquilt making the bear's decision on which of us to snack on easier.

Nice job showing the area and meals. I’ve been there twice - potential visitors, know that in May the river is swollen, none of those sand banks, and you’ll have a head net on except when you’re eating, cloud of black flies dining with you/on you. Great thing about canoeing is the stuff you can take since you’re rarely (portaging) carrying it. Would be interesting to see how this food is packed and what bag/box works well to carry and stay dry in the boat. Awkward to carry much, but I like to have a plastic milk crate along, strap pouches on the outside, use as a table or seat. Let’s paddle on, and drink in the quiet dawnings.

Hi. Robert. Thanks for the nice comment. I've been thinking about doing a few separate videos... one on my canoe loadout... then shorter videos focusing on my sleep systems... and the various cooksets I use. So much to want to do and sol little time. Yes.... the Raquette in the spring is often swollen and you can paddle over those banks and into the trees... making for a neat experience. This particular canoe trip was a bonus November outing... unseasonably warm.

Hey David. I'm glad you enjoy the vids. Many of my favorite trips were rainy. While people tend to stay home... the rain brings out the wildlife... especially the loons and otters. Enjoy your July trip.

Great video! I’m not sure if you will see this comment so late but if you can do a video explaining how you secured your fresh food cooler from the bears and critters I’d really appreciate that.

Hey thanks for watching. Funny you ask about the food and bears. I am just finishing up a video on that topic (and a few other topics). Great question... and a super important one. Anyway... for this trip we used our bear cans... per usual... but for the fresh food (bacon, etc) we used a bear hang. The video I am working on will cover things in more detail.

Love the video but have a question regarding the food. I see the cooler and know people use those blue barrels when canoe camping, do you hang them or just put them away from camp and hope for the best?
@CanoeCampClimbАй бұрын
@@Ares_dA_K1nG hey thanks for the question. If i recall this trip correctly.. my buddy Mike brought a hardsided cooler that held just canned beer. That was stashed in bushes that night. I had my bear can as usual and always just stash that in bushes/deadfall when not in use. I also had a green icemule soft backpack cooler that got hung.

How are you taking drone footage? Launching and landing a drone on NYS forest preserve land designated as “Wilderness” is illegal?
@CanoeCampClimb12 күн бұрын
A good question I am happy to answer. I take responsible flying very serious and do not launch a drone without a lot of research. I put this info in the descriptions of my videos that have drone footage in an effort to keep people from flying illegally. I hope this helps. I find the interactive land classification map very fascinating too: ** IMPORTANT NOTE ON DRONE USE** Before launching a drone be aware of the FAA rules on usage and restrictions. The Adirondacks also have their own set of rules regarding drone use. You are not allowed to launch and operate a drone from within the High Peaks Wilderness... which borders the eastern edge of our route along the Raquette River. My shots were taken outside the no-fly boundary and the drone kept within my line of sight. Outside of the technical rules... and as a basic human courtesy... I also take special care to make sure I am not interrupting anyone's camping or nature experience. If people are around in these peaceful places... the drone stays grounded. Below are links to help you fly legally: www.adirondackcouncil.org/page/where-can-you-fly-a-drone-in-the-adirondack-park-305.html#:~:text=In%20the%20Adirondack%20Park%2C%20it,Primitive%E2%80%9D%20or%20%E2%80%9CCanoe.%E2%80%9D Adirondack Land Classifications Map: adirondack.maps.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/basicviewer/index.html?appid=625564b0f5b249f2ba29a931f23891ad
