You can also move the front points back using the screw that goes through them laterally, so you can still have your secondary points all the way forward. His crampons were set with the front points in the farthest protruding bolt position.

Awesome video! These tips will certainly save me while I'm out on the ice. Thanks a bunch!

Read the comments about setting the front points back while keeping the secondaries as far forward as possible. Stable and engaged secondary points negates calf pump as well as how you kick. What this video presents is less than optimal. Read Will Gadd’s blog for more.

Why not just adjust the points? You can just move them back with the screw. Toebail is mainly for adjustment to the different boots.

Great question @JumperTheHunter! In this instance we are already at the base of a climb, and about to get started. This is a quick and easy field adjustment that can be done without any tools, and I've found it works remarkably well. I prefer to do the screw adjustment at home, which is generally a better solution overall (especially if you aren't using different boots for different conditions). Thanks for the question!

So now boot is further to front. Did you also have to adjust the back or the bar?
