For those of you who don't know, he told the enemy that he was blinking intensely because the flash from the cameras were bothering him. Thats how he got away with it. I just read Captured by Alvin Townley and thought that this was so smart. He was put in solitary confinement for a good 4 years and used taps along walls to communicate with other pows until he got roommates with Jim Mulligan. It might look that way, but trust me, these fuckers are about as unbreakable as it gets. When he decided to do this (Blinking torture in morse code.). He was fairly certain they'd figure it out and kill him. There's a book called "Defiant" it's by Alvin Townley and it's about Jerry Denton, James Stockdale, and the rest of the Alcatraz 11 (The group of American soldiers that Denton was with.). It's an excellent book, and I encourage anyone who is at all intrigued by this video to check it out. There's about 400 pages of incredible stories of these guys taking unimaginable amounts of physical, emotiomal, and psychological punishment and just continuously getting back up. It's has a sort of "Lone Survivor" feel to it, what with the whole "Never Quit." Mindset. Regardless, 'tis my two cents, thanks for reading!

Admiral James P. Stockdale, the senior ranking POW in Vietnam, was tortured terribly, to try to get him to break. It got so bad, then he made a genuinely serious attempt to take his own life, to avoid betraying his country. This greatly impressed his captors, and they left him alone after that. Adm. Stockdale, for his courage, was awarded the Medal of Honor. The ONLY time it was every awarded to a POW. I have his book, In Love and War, co-written with his wife Sybil. Brilliant book.

Regardless, he was forced to say nice things on the camera, & whoever’s watching could’ve taken it literally & had no second thought about it. Also there needs to be evidence before any major decision is made, that’s kinda how authority in our society works. If we went on a rampage to save this mans life, and he wasn’t being tortured, then that’d be our fault, lives & even war could be at hand.

At a 1974 or '75 antiwar rally at UC Santa Barbara, I asked Jane Fonda on what basis she accused U.S. POWs of lying when their claims of torture became known. She simply said that the North Vietnamese don't torture. Three-and-a-half decades later, I was sitting in the lobby of a Miami hotel, speaking with an older gentleman and his wife. We were all waiting for our transportation following a convention we had attended. I had to work behind the scenes at the convention and did not get to hear all the speakers, I suddenly realized the man I was speaking with had been one of the featured speakers ... Jeremiah Denton. Humbling experience.

Morse Code is amazing and a International language if you learn it. Glad he got his message across, Brave soldier.

American prisons don't have leg cuffs. The leg cuffs being referred to cuff you to the floor with your feet straight out in front of you and you can't lie down. Your hands are cuffed to the floor behind you. You have to piss and shit on yourself, and they open the arm cuffs so you can drink the rotten cabbage soup they were given. losepoundsandinches That’s common misconception about Guantanamo Bay. That place is actually an exemplary prison facility compared to the ones we have stateside. I’m actually for shutting it down to move them to our federal prisons. Why? Because those damn terrorists get treated better than the convicts we have in our country. Here’s a link showing what GTMO is really like without the mainstream media spinning their lies to demonize the place: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqXVq5Z4gseJjtU Unfortunately, no politician stateside would ever want to take these prisoners in their own states. The convicts and gangmembers in those prisoners would eat them alive. Once they found out they were terrorists (doesn’t matter if they’re guilty or not) they’d have a field day with them by raping, torturing, and murdering them all in a heartbeat. Seriously, if I was going to prison and had to choose between staying at a Federal Prison or GTMO, I’d much prefer to take my chances at GTMO. It gets more public scrutiny to be humane than any other prison on the planet.
