Adobe Audition Stretch in the Multitrack

Hey! I'm pretty sure you won't see my comment or if you did it's not useful anymore but you have to press the toggle global clip stretching to see the triangles, it's the 3rd button on your left from the time line

is it possible to time-stretch in between the clip? this is possible in audacity by just highlighting some points then change tempo.. i'd like to know if there is an equivalent of this in audacity?

Hi Gilbert. You could cut the clip and stretch the portion you want to stretch using a clip effect rather than a track effect which would effect everything on the track, the clip effect works on just the selected clip.

Where is the gliding stretch over time? Miss that Cool Edit Pro function. My selection has to start on 100% and end on 111 % but can't figure out how.

Make sure that you are running the latest version of Audition. That feature has been around a while so should be in your current version but always worth keeping up to date.

You can manually lengthen a song in any DAW. I personally feel that Adobe Audition is worth the investment for this and the rest of it's functionality.

Sorry @MikeRussell - I truly can not get the arrows to move along the timeline in MultiTrack without affecting the WHOLE song. I only wants parts of the words to be stretched to embellish the time/sound of the individual word. Not affect the whole thing. If you could PLEASE create a tutorial or show us how... that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When I try to do this on my new laptop (a Windows 10 as opposed to my previous 8) which now has the most updated version of Audition, it instead applies a Stretch and Pitch effect which takes up to 20 minutes to process and has to redo every time I go back into my edit. Is there a way to fix this? The version in this video is so much quicker and simpler!

I figured it out! I had to select all audio files I wanted to stretch - go to Properties - go to Stretch - Click Mode: Realtime. :)

Mike - I've been a fan for A LONG TIME now.. but what I can't seem to find is how to lengthen "a portion" of a track. Lets say I want to extend just one part of a word in a commentary or introduction voice-over. Example for what an original would be " Ladies and Gentleman - YOUR LOCAL FOOTBALL TEAM".... but want it to sound something like "Laaaaaaadieeeeeeeeees and Gentlemennnnnnnnnnnnn - YOURRRRRRRRRR LOCAL FOOOOOOOOOOOTBALLLLLLLLLL TEAM"

Thanks for being a long time fan! To lengthen just a portion of a track in Adobe Audition, you can use the "Toggle Global Time Stretch" effect in multitrack to stretch specific sections of words without slowing down the entire track. Just enable the feature then track the white triangles on either end of the waveform you want to stretch out.

I've tried enabling global stretching - and yet when I move the white triangles in the corner ... it moves the entire audio clip. It either shrinks or expands the whole clip. Could you please do a quick tutorial on how to stretch a small section of the audio inside multitrack? Please and thank you!@@MikeRussell

Hello Mike - thanks for this and many other videos you've made. I cannot find ANYWHERE in Audition how to place what's called a "Warp Marker" in Ableton. A Warp Marker locks a specific point in the sample to a specific place in the measure, so I can then use the stretch feature from the warp marker, rather than all the way from the end of the clip. This would be a huge help!!

Question....I have few clips on a track (in Mulittrack) and I have applied a preset to one of the clips. Is there a way to just have that clip only play when I press the spacebar multiple times? Example: I select the clip and add a preset (it shows up in Clip Effects) now I want to hear it so I highlight the clip (by selecting a part of the clip with the mouse) and press space bar. It plays the only the clip.... so far so good. I make a change to the preset effect and want to hear it again but then if I press spacebar again it plays from the beginning of the track. I want to just be able to hear only the clip without having to highlight it each time while I make adjustments. Even though it is already highlighted Audition 2021 seems to think it is not and starts playing from the beginning. Highlighting it again after pressing the spacebar will only just play the clip one time. What is the correct way ?

You have two options, you can have the cursor return to where you started when you stop or you can engage loop mode and select around the clip you want to hear

For anyone not knowing how to do this, to have the cursor return to where you started you will need to have "Return playhead to start position" checked. This is found in 'Preferences/Playback and Recording'. To engage "Loop Mode" activate the 'Loop Playback' button which is found right next to the red 'Record' button.

Mike, is there any way in Audacity to set up a macro for all the audio changes? Like I find myself doing these over n over n over. EQ Bass, EQ Treble, Normalise, Compress, Normalise and lower pitch (cause of my squeaky voice haha). I would love to find a way to set all these to a one click macro or key. Any ideas?

You can't stretch part of a clip without splitting the clip. Once you split the clip you'll be able to stretch the newly created clip.
