I am a newbie that has literally watch every tutorial known to man kind (well, what is available for iPad version-not to many) and this is the FIRST one I have found that actually breaks down every tool and what it actually does! Thank you! Can you do some tutorials on how to make text go on a line? I keep messing it up!

great tutorial and cool design! I'm getting an iPad Pro in a couple of weeks and Illustrator is definitely one of my main apps to install.

Everything about this video was highly informative. But you didn’t show how to use the gradients which I would’ve loved to see🥹 Overall, this is the best Adobe illustrator on IPad tutorial video on KZbin so far.

Hello, thanks for the video!! I have two questions. How do you remove items that you do not want around the art board on iPad? For example, if I place a circle in the corner of the art board how do I remove the remaining part of the circle that is off the art board? Secondly, when combining shapes How can I select each piece to have a different color?

Great tutorial😊. Which iPad would you recommend ?
@RockyRoark3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I would definitely have to recommend the iPad Pro for sure, especially with the Apple Pencil 2. Next year, I'm going to look to upgrade my 3rd generation for a newer model but I've had it for 2-3 years now. (:

nice vid boi! I wonder if the forms can be made transparent from the start? i would like to insert an image as a background and trace it with the “shape builder” (i think that's what the tool is called). unfortunately I cannot make the filling transparent. so i no longer see my stored image as soon as i draw my shapes. Is there a way to increase the transparency of a filling before drawing, so that you can look through it at any time? I just can't find a solution ... thank you !!
@RockyRoark3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I believe you should be able to! If you change the color to transparent or the layer in which you are creating in to transparent both should work! Just make sure that the layer you're tracing on is above the image layer! Hope that helps! (:

Hi Rocky. I have a layers question. Does Illustrator for iPad allow layer-level view mode toggling ( like the desktop version)? I trace a lot in Illustrator so my images sit on one layer and this layer is set to preview mode /image dim and print off whilst my trace layer is set to keyline mode and print on (all these settings are applied in layer properties under the layers panel)....in short, can I have two or more layers, each having its own view mode (preview vs keyline)?
@RockyRoark3 жыл бұрын
So I think I know what you mean! You can actually change the opacity and overlay settings for the layer (switch from Normal to Multiply or Overlay, etc.) and that should give you the same effect. (: Let me know if that helps or not!
@jabulaniharvey3 жыл бұрын
@@RockyRoark the changes that you describe would apply to the pixel based reference image and/or the layer that contains the pixel-based reference....my worry is that Adobe dropped support for keyline view on a layer by layer basis ( this feature is on the desktop version and has been since at least version 8) ....the feature enables the convenience of being able to zoom in to maximum zoom and tracing with lines and curves that have keyline thickness thus allowing very precise adjustments and conformity. Basically you can trace over an mage without the fill or the stroke appearances hindering your view all whilst using the thinnest lines and curves possible at all zoom levels. Additionally the individual layer-level keyline view being unaffected by the fill or stroke properties of the artwork in the tracing layer, therefore displays all the artwork in the tracing layer in keyline mode whilst all other layers may display in preview mode.

I didn’t know that dark mode saves battery life! Thanks for telling! :) i love AI on the ipad, although i wish we can choose which artboard to export. And oh, I have an off-topic question: don’t you think it’s annoying that we can’t export a file as .ai on fresco even though we use vector brush? Or what’s your logic about this?
@RockyRoark3 жыл бұрын
No problem! It's something that a lot of people don't think about but also I just like dark mode period haha. So they now have in the most up-to-date version of Fresco a feature where you can send your file directly to Adobe Illustrator on desktop. Every layer should be editable as long as you don't have any clipping masks in there. Right now clipping masks are instantly made into raster images if you send it to Adobe Illustrator for the desktop-something I've already requested that they change and they add a feature where you can combine vector clipping masks or at least add pathfinder to Fresco. Here's a little trick though that I've found in dealing with clipping masks. I will duplicate my file in Fresco and in the copied file I undo all of the clipping masks so that the layers are all vector when I bring them into illustrator. Then I copy the base shape that was used for a clipping mask, copy and paste it in place and use it to clip all the pieces using pathfinder or I do a clipping mask if needed. Hopefully all of this helps out and please let me know if there's anything else you need help with! I'm also available on the discord server listed in the show notes if any other questions arise. (;

Do you know how to do drop shadow on text on Adobe Illustrator on iPad? Please show if you know. Thanks.
@RockyRoark3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I rarely ever use drop shadows in my designs, and it looks like in the current version of Adobe Illustrator on the iPad, there isn't a drop shadow feature, but maybe this might be something they add in an update later this year. Sorry I couldn't be more help! ):

Comparing Illustrator for iPad to Affinity Designer: Designer is so far leaps and bound better. I don't exactly understand the fan fare that Adobe fans have for their iPad products: they seem really clunky and out of touch for cool mobile app based design.
