There is a way around closing your subscription early and not get the penalty. You have to change your plan and then you get another 7 trial period and you can end your subscription. You then get a refund for a portion of your old subscription and the new one you just paid for get refunded as well. I agree though, it shouldn't be that hard.

Nice tip! Hopefully people can see this comment before Adobe closes the loop hole.

Honestly, I don't think Adobe will be out of the game, just due to how involved they are with corporations and with peoples carreers. But I do hope they get to a do-over on their pricing plan. I'll stick to the Affinity series in either case.

You're probably right. It would take years for their corporate contracts to be replaced, if ever at all.

I was ready to sub to CC but I realized exactly what you talk about here, regarding their "billed monthly" deal where you're actually locked into paying for a whole year whether you want to keep CC or not. I've always loved Adobe's stuff but I just plain walked at that point. Granted, I'm not a professional image editor/retoucher/etc., so I can afford to switch to some alternative and lose some of the cooler features, but that just left me feeling SO icky, like I needed to take a shower or something, that I just called it quits with Adobe. Once I realize a company is actively trying to trick me, I'm done, I never do biz with them again. I basically try to avoid letting anyone get the chance to get to the fool-me-once stage of the saying, because if they can get to that stage, they're definitely gonna try for the fool-me-twice stage.

Found this video because it appears, they're once again getting sued for the same thing--or maybe it's just taken this long. Not a lawyer, don't know how long it takes for things like this to happen. But this, in conjunction with all of the ToS additions and AI. I mean, I've been using Photoshop for 20 years at this point...really want something that doesn't have much of a learning curve, and can be a smooth transition from what I've known--to learning something new. But it feels Affinity might be the best alternative out there for sure, and they're having a sale at the time of writing.

I’m don’t think they’re going anywhere, but I’m glad they are getting called out. Their subscription is the most confusing process because you have to pick something where you don’t get screwed. But I do believe this will bring more customers to their competitors. I don’t mind subscriptions if they’re honest. It’s about time Adobe gives us better options. Plus, Adobe has been slacking on the software. There are way too many issues with their softwares to even demand those prices.

We amateurs have been abandoning Adobe for the past 2 years, switching to the very apps you mentioned. However, I believe Adobe has been focusing more on professionals anyway, and those that I have spoken to simply shrug and admit that they have no other realistic options, as their industries are now so deeply entrenched in Adobe products. Very much like Quickbooks and Intuit. You still hate them, but you have to use their stuff. Fines or no, these environments will probably never truly change.

Great video! As an IT admin I have always hated managing Adobe. They make it way more difficult to cancel than most other software companies. They charge an absurd amount. I would love to see some changes with how they do things.

Totally agree! I used to love using Adobe products, but now I don't think I can go back.

I dumped Adobe many years ago. You are so right that products like Pixelmator Pro and Photomator, both of which I purchased on sale, do just about everything I want. Joeseph, one tool in PMP that I don't see how to use non-destructively is dodge/burn tool (Lighjten/Darken). Do you have a preferred way to dodge and burn with or without those tools? Maybe a short video?

Honestly I have continued paying monthly because in the short term it was cheaper than the cancellation fee 😅

That’s how they get ya.

I dropped Adobe last year. Far too much money yearly, and I had the cheapest option. Even though you can split it with one more person, it still wasn’t worth it. I discovered lots of affordable options that will do everything I need to get my job done.

Screw adobe. They have taken the piss for far too long. And they're not even better than their competetors in most scenarios. DaVinci is WAY better than premiere for example, and its free!!!

Wow... a cancellation fee for ending a contract early... I'm shocked. Not. I got no problems with Adobe's fees or payment options. I get the PS/LR bundle, pay for the entire year and I'm good to go. Great product. This sounds like people being too cheap to pay and not bothering to read the fine print.
