+I am Warren Thanks for listing all the information. Made life easier. I would personally keep original "F" function to see before and after. Set ripple delete to shift+D. Set add edit to F2 Set add mark to F3 Set delete selected mark to F4 Set Go to Next/Prev Edit Point to ctrl+tab (Same as flipping next webpage in Google) Just my personal preferences.

Ace. Reference for shortcuts in this vid: A zoom out S zoom in D clear F ripple delete Q step back W step forward E shuttle slow right Z track select tool C cut tool (Hold Shift to cut whole timeline) V select tool ALT+CTRL exchange/swap clip locations ALT-drag = copy clip
@mylarmelodies8 жыл бұрын
To add to this, one key thing he didn't touch on is how to actually create edits with the keyboard. So I'd suggest playing with: 'Add Edit To All Tracks' > this will slice the whole timeline at the playhead. 'Select Next Clip' > then you can select the next clip 'Select Previous Clip' > or select the previous clip I have Add Edit mapped to [ ` ] = the key above tab on a windows keyboard Select next clip to [ 2 ] Select previous clip to [ 1 ] You can then navigate, cut, select the bit you don't want, then hit F for Ripple Edit, and you've just trimmed out a chunk without touching the mouse.

one more thing: hold use 'C' and hold SHIFT to cut the whole timeline.

This is awesome! Thanks! However, I hope you've remapped the functions that were originally assigned to the Q and W keys because they're great. I just learned about them about a month ago. You can choose a clip in your timeline, find the moment in that clip where you want that clip to start, and then hit Q to ripple delete everything prior to where the playhead is in just that clip. Then, when you get to the point in that clip where you're ready for it to end, you can hit W to ripple delete the unwanted portion of the end of that clip. So, so useful. If you want to remap it, it's called "Ripple Trim Previous Edit to Playhead" and "Ripple Trim Next Edit to Playhead"

OMG SO HELPFUL. This video should get a "most helpful for beginner editors" award. Seriously. (thumbs up!) Btw, is there a shortcut to copy a clip and insert it right behind the clip if there's a trail of clips following it? The method you showed won't work for me if I've got a whole trail of clips after the selected clip because I won't be able to hold and drag out...? Thanks!

+pramod jois fade in is an "effect" in the effect panel, you just drag it onto your clip. Slo mo can be done by right clicking and changing speed/duration but it won't look good. If you want it to looks smooth you will need to buy twixtor

Trick number one: DON'T UPDATE to PP2015. It is terribly buggy. It leaks memory so hard when rendering (among other times). I did a whole project and wasn't able to export due to memory leaks in the code. I literally had to redo the whole edit in PP2014. Stay with the 2014 version, unless you want to be paying adobe to be a beta tester -.-
@FStoppers9 жыл бұрын
+XSquibX We went to 2015 and then went back to 14 because it messed up so many of our projects. I was hoping they would have fixed it by now though.

Yet it still sits in the cloud app telling new people to update every day. It's sad and absolutely pathetic how adobe has been handling things since the cloud came out.
@XSquibX9 жыл бұрын
I gave it a try a week ago and the project wouldn't render out. Every single time, no matter the settings, it would run out of memory between 6 and 13%

+XSquibX These days I only edit occasionally and am updated to 2015. I don't see 2014 in the Previous Versions in the CC drop down. Can I reinstall it by going to Adobe's site?

It is in the CC drop down. Look for the area labeled "additional apps" which you haven't installed and then click on "all apps". You can then view older versions of programs from there.

C cut tool (Hold Shift to cut whole timeline) In addition/instead you can also set a shortcut for the Add Edit function and instead using the Cut tool, you can directly "cut" where your play head is currently. Although there are so many videos nowadays that talk about shortcuts, it was this video made 8 years ago that embedded within me the concept that you only want to keep your MOST used hot keys on your left hand without having to use lift your right. Which command to assign to which key is subjective, but just that concept alone has sped up my editing process over the years and I wanted to return to this video again and say thank you! Duuuuuuuuuude. I know you may not even see this, but I just have to say THANK YOU. I watched this a couple years ago, and I sort of have my own variation, but this was an absolutely GENIUS way to setup your shortcut keys within premiere. This has made editing for both personal and professional use a breeze! I am actually in the middle of editing right now and I just had to stop and say thanks! Not to toot my own horn, but I sometimes impress myself with how fast I can make moves within this program and I often times think about this video. It is now just second nature, and I just remain productive without ever really having to look down or stop to find keys. My only complaint is that I wish co-workers/other people would actually LISTEN to me when I try telling them I can help them increase their editing speed if they just move their shortcut keys! 😳😅They always think I am bull crapping them for some reason!? Haha (whatever I can edit wayyyy faster than them! ) All this to say....for real THANKS!

Bought the game X-Wing for the Mac back in 1997 or so. Was so excited that I whipped it out of the box, installed and went with the default key settings. My little hand looked like a spider on the keyboard sprawled across the entire right side with my middle finger on the I key which was the targeting computer toggle. I was already an ace X-Wing pilot so there was no reason to make things more efficient. Flash forward a few years and I was editing a feature length movie on CS 5. I didn't change the key shortcuts then either. I was used to doing everything the long way in an efficient manner. No telling how many hours I could have shaved off my editing job if I had the sense to reassign the short keys. Flash forward to today and I just got Premiere 14 to start a youtube channel. First thing I do is go to videos like this! Took me 25 years but I learned!
