I spoke to a BMW engineer at a M3 press event for the E9x generation launch and he was talking about the overall size/surface area of the piston being what matters…so their single piston was like 2-4 pistons from competing vehicles at the time, and yet they were likely going to have to start using more smaller pistons because it was becoming a spec sheet battle people were paying more attention to every year. I’ll never forget asking him something about that and him replying “it’s far cheaper for us to change our ways than it is to for us to educate consumers”. Could tell those engineers hated us, understandably 😂

Last year,, I rode my ZX10 from Salt Lake City to Denver, Co. I decided to take I-80 across because it was flatter and the roads were better. I failed to take into account the winds... or the hail. And there was nowhere to hide like an overpass or something... so I got beat up pretty bad. The best tip is to check the weather and avoid riding in it!

I drove 4 hours on a ZX-10R in the NY winter because I got it as such a great deal but had no way of getting back except to drive it. Stuff every inch of my gear with hot packs. It was absolutely miserable but worth it.

One of the best gear upgrades I have made has hands down been the upgraded visor. At minimum you need a pin lock if you ride in humidity. But the auto tinting visor has been insanely good. No flipping back and forth to tint or no tint. Yes it is more expensive but how much is the two visors and pin locks it replaced? Just saying.

Little rain tip for y'all. You can tuck just enough where the wind hits your visor and it'll blow the rain drops off. Ride at a higher RPM it gives your ECU more chances to cut power per cycinder per revolution. That last ones FortNine verified ride safe.🤙🏻

Do a block leak test on it to be sure. I’ve had head gaskets fail so slightly between the cooling jacket and combustion chamber that it doesn’t leak water into the oil, doesn’t blow white smoke, barley pressurizes the cooling system, and doesn’t overheat at all. Only symptom was coolant consumption and after a couple days sitting I could take a spark plug out and see green with a flash light on top of the piston. Only way to know for sure without taking it apart is with that pretty blue block test liquid.

There are a LOT of channels on KZbin that go over riding in the rain, and a lot of them reiterate how easy/simple it is. People don't like riding in the rain because they don't know how to ride, or refuse to buy rain gear. It's really down to that. The lack of personal skill and confidence.

Got sick from riding in the rain but regardless, Washingtonians eat rain for breakfast lol. Just layer up, and accept the fact ur gonna get wet unless u have some sort of wetsuit thing on. makes the ride a little less enjoyable but it gives ur bike a cleanse :)

Few weeks ago, I had a ride in heavy fog (so heavy that water droplets are forming on my visor) and it was horrible. I did turn my head around like you, so the headwind could blow away the water. The bad part was my glasses. the lenses fog up once i breathe (either through the nose or mouth, the mouth is worse). So I had to hold and release my breath like die-trying to release a fart in a quiet place. (note: the ride happened on highway, during dusk-evening time, both are foggy as fk)🤣🤣🤣

I got pulled over in freezing rain riding 2 blocks to store my brand new to me CBR 125 r with a bald tire, no taillight, no backlight in the dash, a blown front fork seal and no rear brakes. I got 5500$ of traffic tickets one of which is a riding with no insurance ticket which will affect my car and bike insurance for 3-6 years. Easily the dumbest thing I've ever done and now will not be able to afford to start riding for another year or two unless I win the lottery. when he flipped the lights on I panicked and when I was breaking (no rear brake) I damn near lowsided it. DONT RIDE WITHOUT INSURANCE, A PLATE, A TAILLIGHT, SIGNALS, MUFFLER AT MIDNIGHT IN FREEZING RAIN. VERY STUPID. Some stuff you just can't skip on no matter how much you think it won't matter for you.
