I used to have a 5' long Red Tail Boa. She was the best pet I ever owned to be 100% honest. I'd take her out of her tank and chill with her just like this. I wish people would do a little research.. they are very cool animals but they don't like to be out and handled all day. The exhale of air signifys stress and means they are ready to go back to the enclosure. (Assuming it's not a respiratory infection, as it doesn't sound like one)They are ground dwelling snakes that live in burrows, "a hiding ball is a happy ball" beautiful blue eyed lucy though :)

Ball pythons actually love attention and handling and no it is not an infection , it is merely like she said , a sign of curiosity or a greeting my ball python can’t wait to come out and won’t go back even after hours of play and he loves to hug at me and sometimes if I huff he’ll huff back. So please do Your research or ask an owner of the pet before you make assumptions based on the internet , as it not always correct

I love, love, love my ball python Marley. He's very chill and has never bit or hissed even once. The pet shop were amazing at socialising him because he's so active and responsive to us.
