This is my biggest stumbling block every…single…time. And I think you can’t underestimate just how awful it feels to change these coping mechanisms, it’s like coming off a drug. And I always find that just as I start to feel more at ease doing calmer, more relaxing activities, that something will come along that’s traumatising in some way and will trigger the coping mechanisms again and you end up lost in it all over again. Very frustrating process.

Definitely true to an extent. Some games can be fun and I wouldn’t want to be without them entirely. But certain games have certainly pushed me into poor health. There have been some nights in the past where I have played fifa for about 7 hours straight… the majority of that time was spent feeling rageful. Call of duty can also be another - I mean, it’s literally mimicking a Warzone to some degree.

As a video game addict. This is exactly true. I was addicted to league of legends and it was all I think about. I am 3 days clean and my longest streak was about 100 days. These games nowadays are way more addicting then when I was a child. The dopamine rush keeps you addicted and nothing else in life matters. I also noticed when quitting gaming, I become bed ridden because my body just wants to finally rest. That's what happened yesterday. Great video!

I also noticed that, actually when I stopped playing and started just watching some series I enjoyed (not too stimulating), I recovered so much better. Even games that make you think a lot can be really bad at this time. Just need to relax.

you're looking quite handsome James. Something about your face, don't know if it's the hair, the beard, or the generally good health that comes from being free from stress and fatique. I get it too when i do long streaks of health recovery practice. Early nights etc. The dark circles disappear and your skin looks better and you just look more and feel more positive.

Thanks Daze kind of you to say! when I stick to my advice my face looks better. I’ve also noticed a difference this year from almost daily juicing in the mornings. This summer I did 2-3 weeks of juicing freshly picked dandelion leaves and flowers and i lost my liver spot / mole on my face. It was only yesterday I got accused of a family friend of wearing fake tan ! I think it’s the organic fresh juices and early nights making my skin look more alive

Would NoFap be a good idea too then? Since that is overly stimulating/dopamine draining...
@HealthRecovery Жыл бұрын
Definitely. As minimal as possible. Porn is terrible for that. In recovery I managed 2-3 week streaks at a time which really helped. But again don’t beat yourself for not being on Point. If you relapse just start straight again

Hi James. Have you looked into into psilocybin or Amanita Muscaria (mushrooms) microdosing to see if it helps with some of the symptoms in me/cfs ? Or have you heard of it helping anyone? Would be a good topic to explore for content. Thanks for the other videos you've done.

I would of definitely have done that when I was sick if I was aware. I believe they have a lot of helpful properties for situations like this.

when you went to sleep earlier…did you end up sleeping more hours too or always 8 hours? is it not good to sleep in?
@HealthRecovery Жыл бұрын
Depends at what stage of my recovery. When I was fixing insomnia it was far less. When I was well I would go bed at 8:30/9 and wake up at 4-5 .

Is there something about ME which makes us hyper-sensitive to stimulation and yet at the same time we crave it? Perhaps we are low on dopamine and are always trying to 'eke' out a little dopamine hit to make us feel more normal? I crave dopamine hits all the time now and I was not this way before I became ill.
@HealthRecovery Жыл бұрын
Possibly. Nothing is out of the question.

Personally I find nearly every waking moment dull and unengaging. Video games can definitely give me some excitement. I’ve realised my attention span is pretty horrendous though. I used to be able to sit and read, but can now only seem to do so if it’s a very thrilling book.

Are you on any meds for hair loss or had a transplant?
@HealthRecovery Жыл бұрын
Nothing mate. I noticed extra growth from after removing some trigger foods like peanuts (I had one side of calf on both legs completely bald that have grown back too). Also rosemary oil massage once a week when I remember to. No toxic shampoos I use a natural soap bar. All these things I feel have made a difference

I realized how damaging PC games are when I found out that your body don't see any difference if you are fighting for life in a PC game or in a real life.. I was playing like 10 years strategy game Starcraft on line like 8 hours a day at least. I wanted to be really good so all games were very stressful. Now when I think about it no wonder my health was in the toilet.. I mean imagine 8 hours a day be in stress state where your heart rate is elevated and the body is pumping adrenaline into the blood.. During that time the body can't rest and regenerate. Can't even properly digest food etc.. The body simply thinks that you are really in life/death situation all the time.. I was also watching PRO gamer who had heart rate monitor on and he had heart rate like when you are doing aerobic exercise around 120-130 beats per minute. That is insane.. At the end in my worst state I had crazy heart issues from gaming like I could have heart attack any moment.. I will never touch games ever again. But I still struggle even with youtube and sometimes I watch some police/war videos to get some adrenaline.. My goal is to live without internet. But for that I need to move somewhere close to nature like mountains, forest or next to beach and ocean.. For now It is hard to live without internet when I have no relaxing place to do nothing like people living on a farm or somewhere where you can enjoy time outside with nature. Living in apartment building in the city really suck..

I played a lot of StarCraft too it’s very stressful. I can completely relate to that.

@@HealthRecovery Yeah and I was playing the old starcraft broodwar at the time when it was crazy popular all over the world especially in Korea. I loved it. It was not healthy, but I can tell you that it was much better than doing drugs or something more stupid that kids do.. At least I am not dead right now or I didn't kill someone else drunk in car crash or whatever... At that time there was no youtube. I had no answers for my health issues so playing games was good escape for me. It helped me in some ways and damaged my body/mind in some ways.. Right now I enjoy watching play others. It is still not ideal to even watch, but when you just watch there is hardly any stress like when you are in control..
