As someone who used have lupus flares just like this, relatable James. Inflammation causes anxiety and depression for me whenever this happens too. It’s so scary. All positivity goes out the door. Thanks for sharing this. Nina.

I also get terrible health ptsd and it can be all consuming. It’s good that you highlighted how important it is to be able to get out of that tailspin moment. I had this recently and literally have to talk to myself out loud to calm myself down. I think I saw somewhere, where Eckhart Tolle said that you can do either of two things, take action to improve a situation or accept it as it is, anything else is madness.

Totaly get it, you're not alone in this, i'm an ex CFS/ auto-immune sufferer, i also go through the same ups and down and feeling of doom when the symptoms come back, i think it's common with people who recovered from chronic illness like us. It really leaves a trauma in us like you say (my functional medecine dr also said that to me a while ago), the fear that this time we are gonna be sick forever, the fear of not being able to work anymore or get a job or maintain our relationship that we managed to build after recovery, the reaction of our partner etc. But in the end we start doing what we know it takes to get better and it does get better (btw don't be afraid about lupus being impossible to put in remission because in the end the way to put it in remission is the same as how to put fibromyalgia, CFS and Lyme in remission, so more or less what you did to get better. I say that as a naturopath now that takes care of people with these conditions)

Thanks a lot for your comment. Yes same principles apply for lupus although the diet has to be far stricter. I bounced back in 3 days so I’m happy with that. I just find it very hard socially when it comes to food and being restricted. I wish food was healthy when eating out but it’s really not. But yes it definitely leaves a scar !

Can relate to the tailspin. I have a flare up and panic. Panic that it's going to be long term and I'm "never" going to feel normal again. Naturally, this makes everything worse. I have to pull myself back and try to think rationally. It's not forever and it's OK to have a setback. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your struggles with us 💙

It's funny that you're having this conversation with us, I woke up the other night after eating bit of chicken from Chinese. Crazy chest pain, panic attack it was awful but I remembered what I ate.... wish I just knew better what my body can cope with. Thanks James

Same reaction with Chinese food…my practitioner says it’s glutamate (MSG). I also react to emulsifiers like gum and xanthan gum and carrageenan, high in MSG. And, glutamate is excitatory, causes anxiety!! Meditation, glutamate, and boosts my GABA

All high oxalate foods. I was given a fluroquinolone antibiotic in 2015 and 2 weeks later I had CFS. I hear that these antibiotics can take out certain gut bacteria that dont return hence the immune response. I have had an ANA of 2560 for 8 years. Rheumy tells me its CFS/Fibro . I slowly transitioning from carnivore the BEEF salt and water diet @@HealthRecovery

Hey, sorry if you've addressed this before, but what's your opinion on antidepressants? Useful, or harmful? Bad for health and long term outcome, or good as a temporary measure? Or maybe good to take for rest of life? What's your take on them? Also anti anxiety meds and adhd meds? I find that as I heal, I have a lot less depression/adhd symptoms. But lately I've kind of backtracked and had a health disaster, leaving me bedridden again. I'm contemplating taking an anti depressant but not sure if it will damage me further or not. 😢

It wasn’t the answer for me but everyone has to judge the pros and cons at the time. Sometimes drugs are necessary.. I wouldn’t say no to a diazepam now and again if I had access to them 😂 sometimes the break the drugs give is necessary. I took tramadol for 2 weeks with a broken ankle because it was misery without them

What do you eat now thay you don't eat grains, legumes a d nuts? I also can't eat this stuff ( also dairy and eggs) and I have no idea what to eat except potatoes and some veggies. Can you eat some legumes when not processed but home cooked?
@HealthRecovery
@HealthRecovery Жыл бұрын
I only ever did home soaked and pressure cooked beans - it still triggers protein in urine. Soaked and sprouted are OK eg mung bean sprouts in salads and miso soups. I eat eggs and I’m looking into ahimsa milk. So I eat a lot of salads, miso soups, smoothies, vegetable juices, white rice/red lentil/petite poi mix, eggs, fruit. I can eat dahl for example that’s ok with red lentils and cabbage. It’s not easiest when busy

@@HealthRecovery Thanks for the answer. Are you sure it's the beans and not the eggs triggering protein in urine? Eggs are notorious for UTIs and kidney issues. For me grains and sometimes legumes trigger infection flares like strep and Shingles, especially grains. No eggs for me. My diet is 80% potatoes 😀 not that fun but it's my safe food. It's really hard when I am trying to eat whole foods but so many of them cause symptom flares. I don't do well with nuts but I have no problem with coconut and cashew yogurt, it contains only coconut, cashews and bacteria, I guess it's the fermentation process that makes it more digestible.

This is making it clear that your gut is not healed! When I first recovered I could eat gluten and nothing happened until it happened :)
@HealthRecovery

Autoimmunity is different I believe - my body is sending strong signals that the processed food is not welcome. I’ve not eaten anything processed other than a rice cracker for nearly a year so it was a shock to the system I think. All these people that go carnivore for a year and can’t tolerate many foods does that mean their gut is not healed or does it mean their body simply does not want many foods in the gut ? When I first recovered I was the same as you - not even gluten bothered me… but as time goes on my body just does not want any of it anymore.

If my gut is not healed after all this time it would be incredibly confusing. I have no symptoms of anything when eating how I do now … they only occur if I eat the foods that trigger

@HealthRecovery Well this is why you can't eat gluten you still have gut permeability and your symptoms flare-up... the same is happening to me when eating gluten or crap, as long as I eat clean without gluten thw autoimmune condition is ok, I made recently a test for disbiosis and leacky gut and it came back positive... If thw gut is ok you can eat gluten until it breaks again but this will take some time... Most likely your urine issue is acused by your gut... you know that all issues are caused by the gut and I mean everything!

@@HealthRecovery I don't agree with this, I was so bad with autoimmunity that I could not even drink water I almost died of malnutrition, as soon as I eat my body shout down, paresthesias, brain damage, and all kind of wired crap then nearly killed me... eating gluten at that time literally put me in complete shut down for a few hours I could not even speak! I found a clinic where they focused completely on the gut, it took three years to get to a point where I could eat anything, as soon as I eat gluten I could go ok with it for 1 to 5 days depending on the state I was, stress, sleep etc, after that my parenthesis come back and if I continued other symptoms came back.. as soon as I stopped gluten I get back to normal in a few days just like you now! I spoke with my doctor and did a test and my intestine permeability and it is still positive, they also use frequency machines that can scan your body and that machine also found the same issues... this is why you react so bad to gluten and this is the case as well. I recovered about 99% as you are not but I don't know if my gut will ever completely recover to be able to have a 'normal' life, covid also literally destroyed me and yes the gut was the issue as well... I always must be careful and I lost my lungs twice to COVID-19, it was a nightmare... At the clinic where I went, the founder had a very bad leaky gut, he almost lost his colon, he recovered naturally as you did but seven years have passed and his gut is not 100% maybe it never will. Call it sensitivity to gluten or whatever you want but this is happening because your gut is not healed 100%.. this is the secret and nobody seems to have found it, how do we heal the gut 100% after the damage that it had... If you take a permeability test I am sure it will come back positive, those without permeability can eat gluten and the worst thing they will experience is bloating but nothing else because the gluten does not get into the bloodstream... Your mindset is good but you are not healed, be very careful if COVID catches you with your immunity down you are in a new world of trouble and it might kill you, it nearly killed me. You will need to have a top-noch diet to survive this and raise your child for your entire life, is not worth it and you should know that you should not care about what others think about your diet, if you get sick again they will live on and forget about you, even your wife if you are sick long enough she will get tired of you if you don't believe me well it happened to me and we are together for almost 20 years! Never ever eat gluten again is not worth it, this applies to crapy food as well. Your issue with the protein in the urine is caused by the gut as well... and you know it in the back of your conscience... This is the clinic that specializes in gut and autoimmune diseases using a holistic approach if you are interested transilvaniahealing.ro/

@@fwdflashwebdesign I got covid and was ok thankfully, nothing long term and it didn’t effect my breathing for more than a week. I think you are right, maybe due to antibiotics and vaccines the damage isn’t completely irreversible. As long as I can live my life without chronic illness I’m ok with it. The protein in my urine (albumin) is due to food reactions in the gut you are right. The protein of the legumes gets into my blood and triggers an autoimmune response which then results in my kidneys allowing blood to exist the body. If I remove these foods there is no issue. My partner never seems to have issues with anything or her brother but they were both breastfed and non vaccinated. Her brother eats complete trash, never even thinks about his health and is a strong guy with no issues. I believe vaccines and pharmaceuticals compromise many of us and make us weaker
