thank you so much for this video . I have been dealing with insomnia since two months , I did all the check ups and they told me you have anxiety. I don't believe them I keep searching till I find out that the adrenal glands if they are tired you can will have sleep disorders. I have all the symptoms that you said on the video. especially lightheaded I have if I want to grab things from the floor or if I lay down on the couch or in the bed to sleep or if I stand up . I was always asking for an answer. now i am 100% sure that my insomnia root cause is the adrenal gland fatigue. i slept at night for one hour then boom my eyes open , now I know why I have all these things going with me. thanks a lot.

I suffered from AF for years. The only treatment that saved me was: 1/ took 12 months off my stressful job 2/ started keto with intermittent fasting 3/ using adaptogens herbs 4/ enjoy outdoors activities 5/ i am woman, fit, 53, 112 lbs 5”4 with no illnesses or metabolic issues. I have found energy that I have never had before. I spent all my time off on the couch 🛋. My body action mode, adaptation mode were out. I had ran out off resources physically and mentally. I was incapacitated for such a long time. It has taken me a whole year to recover . I did it all by myself, people around me thought that I was lazy , or making this up. Sadly , our system isn’t recognizing how bad it is and how many people are discriminated against.

I think one of the most terrible thing in today's society is the fact we tolerate being into traps for way too long. YES TRAPS. The working place has become TRAPS. The relationships at work have become TRAPS. Sometimes, even our relationship with our love ones have became TRAPS. Strangely enough (or not if you follow my lead), captured soldiers developped same 'syndromes' than what is describe here as 'adrenal fatigue'... Today everything is a trap. You buy something, you get rip off. You are always FIGHTING to get what you want or you get screw or you get fired or you don't get the grades, or you don't make the cut, or you don't meet the deadline! We are now used as machines... The banks have entraped us all into working all our life to pay for a f...ng mortgage on a house we will eventually have to sell because when older, the tax rate will be so high, we will not have enough money to pay it each year! This is currently happening all around me in Canada, and i am sure, in other country too. We are exploited so much because it has became impossible to compete against country that have enslaved their entire population without them knowing (china for exemple). Humans there have no rights. How can you compete against that?...

I am currently in a recovery from a crush. AF started last summer it took me 6 months to get better, and now relapsed. No one who experienced this can understand. But let me tell you this experience drew me closer to God, yes my body got weaker but my Spirit get stronger. I recognized how much I was self reliant and put on myself unnecessarily burdens. Now I spend more time with God. Read pray and meditate on His Word. I encourage everyone to rest in The Lord. Jesus loves you ❤

Dr.Ekberg, you are saving lives. I now know I have adrenal fatigue. I can barely get out of bed in the morning. I've been on the high carb, high sugar roller coaster all my life, 74 years. It started in the hospital where I was born with baby formula with sugar in it. I've been watching many of your videos and I finally am educated on how to help myself. I've cut carbs and sugar out of my diet almost completely. The best thing is the knowledge of how to fight back, how to regain what we've lost. Doctors want us to remain sick and on prescription drugs. I have hope now and I'm so grateful to you. God bless you, Dr. Ekberg!

I wish I could afford the keto diet, but meat is too high. I walk by the meat cases in the grocery store and just visit a minute and then go on. Also, I don't have teeth and can't afford what's left of them removed so I can get false teeth. It costs money to do anything but starve.

I do not know where to begin, thanking you for this video ❤️ In 2014 I was diagnosed with Cushing which in my case was a carcinoid in my lung “Beneign tumor”, which sky rocketed my cortisol levels for a long time. This was surgically removed and since then I have tried to recover from tiredness, several naps during the day, severe moods wings, which I was told was a bipolar disease which I had pills for, lack of energy and so fourth… I saw your video 15 days ago and though, OMG “adrenal fatigue” makes so much sense… The following 3 days I did a water fast and after that I have been on a intermittent fasting where I do not eat for 16 hours and reduce my eating window to 8 hours. After day 5 of viewing your video I realized I had not had a single nap since I started and my energy level has been through the roof. Even my wife asked if I was okay 🤣🥰 She has seen a dramatic transformation with my energy level and mood. Furthermore I am now of the bi-polar pills which has no positiv effect as this was clearly an adrenal fatigue issue. I have visited my doctor so many times to get help, I have been MR and CT scanned so many times and been in the hospital several times for days to find out what was causing my “Fatique”. Sten, you may have saved the wellbeing of my life. ❤️ Thank you so much. Karsten 38 year old Male, from Denmark 🇩🇰

The thing is that what they learn in school is to identify possible medical conditions, confirm w tests/scans & medicate w prescriptions. If it was not part of their curriculum, they usually either aren't familiar or aren't interested in entertaining the process to figure it out. Without treatment, depending on the ailment, this can result in extra stress, mental health issues, further physical issues & worst case, death. It's pretty sick & twisted that mental & physical health are treated separately, when the gut- brain connection is understood & accepted. Its almost as if...they don't actually care abt ppl getting better, abt treating & healing illness; only the profits from long term (if u make it that far) management.

Why don’t our regular physicians teach us these things? I have never learned much about my health from any doctor I’ve been seeing. They check your labs, listen to your heart, take your blood pressure and dispense medicine. Period. They never have an independent opinion or suggestion ( except the pro-forms ones like “lay off the fats” (often wrong). I’ve never had a physician ask me specifics about my diet or lifestyle. And yet, they’ve spent years and immense amounts of money for their medical education. To what end? I can’t say any family doctor I’ve gone to for check-ups or even actual health problems has actually helped me much, nor have they educated me about my health. Thank you for this, Dr. Ekberg.

I find that propping my legs against a wall for 10 min a day improves my sleep and lessens fatigue. I also started doing a 10 min tai chi video for anxiety so I don't wake up at 2/3 am. Always making inroads. I firmly believe if it weren't for Dr Sten and other similar nutrition and health channels, I'd be in rough shape. I'm 68 and fatigue's been a serious challenge. I do at least 1/2 hr stretching and strengthening videos daily and most days a 40 min walk. I feel so energized, but I sit down...I'm asleep!

I had an adrenal crash last month after 2 years 18:6 and low carb (generally 75 per day non-grain. I stopped keto because i felt horrible (not keto flu like when i was younger) and my keones were insanely high like 5+). For 3 weeks i was so ill. Blood pressure kept dropping, sometiems as low as 83/50s. Blood sugar all over the place (despite a1c 4.9, fasted insulin 8.9), and crushing fatigue. It was truly horrible i could barely walk for 3 weeks. Drs had no idea ofc. Finally a friend who is a radiologist and was looking over my scans said, "sounds HPA related." This reminded me i was diagnosed adrenal fatigue 10 years ago, but thought "ah, ill be fine!" Amd changed nothing. So i dug up the book the dr gave me (called adrenal fatigue, by james wilson). I started following the advice. I gave up coffee (rip). I added a 3rd meal (salad w protein). I added in more squashes and nuts. Within days my blood pressure began to stabilize. Within a week, i was walking my poor dogs again, slowly, for up to 30 minutes. Thats where im at now. My hormone dr said my levels are low despite taking a good amount of hrt, said the adrenal gland is repsonsible for low absorbtion. She gave me nad, t-150, adenaliv. I really prefer omad or 2mad, and id love to do keto like when i was younger. but the reality is, if you have adrenal weakness, it can make it worse. Maybe in the future? But for now i have to try these tips from eckberg, eat 3 lowish, unprocessed carbs meals, maybe a metabolic adjustment before bed (😢) and maybe try these supps. Good luck to everyone!

I finally quit most carbs and processed foods.. lost 40 lbs in 5 months and I genuinely feel healthier. HOWEVER, coming from a violently abusive childhood and drinking coffee all day has kept my baseline stress level sky high for my entire adult life. I just learned to live with it.. but now that I'm feeling these fatigue symptoms this will be my next mission in getting healthy. Cannot thank you enough, doctor! I had a bit of a nervous breakdown of sorts back in 2012. I thought it was a result of stress and that I was just burned out and needed a rest. In 2014, I quit the job that made me unhappy, gave up the nice house and all the other expensive STUFF that I didn't need in my life. I wound up losing my fiance as well during this "life overhaul". I bought an RV with the retirement money from my job and hit the road with my brand new puppy. I traveled around for a bit, did a lot of time in nature and did some soul searching. While, cutting out all the unnecessary expense, clutter and chaos from my life and living smaller, cheaper, more basic and free has rewarded me with certain benefits, I was never able to shake that burned out feeling. I was still able to function in life, go out meet people, find jobs, etc, so it was at least manageable. In September 2020, I really hit a wall. The exhaustion, general apathy, confusion, anxiety, etc became a daily occurrence and really quite debilitating. I do have a history of depression, so my assumption has always been that this was just a progression of that. I have a bit of a distrust of the medical industry, as a whole, so I've avoided seeking out any help or treatment and have been doing a lot of my own research and experimenting with various natural treatments. Mostly, I've just been sucking it up and letting it happen and, it's to the point where I can't remember the last time I've felt happy and I feel like I've just been waiting around to die. I'm not suicidal, as I don't believe in that option, but I've just gotten to the point of not having any real hope of feeling better. I feel like the world and life are moving way too fast and passing me by. I came across this video, and a few others, just the other day. I have ALL the symptoms, even down to the daily salt cravings and stress/anxiety have been pretty much a daily thing for the past 12-13 years now. I've researched a number of other conditions that seemed close to what I've been experiencing, but this "adrenal fatigue" is the first one that checks all the boxes for me, so this has renewed a wee bit of optimism and hope for me. My plan is to start doing moderate exercise for 30-60 minutes a day, learn how to meditate and do that for 20 minutes or so each day, go on a more KETO diet (with intermittent fasting) and to start taking a Vitamin B1+Thiamine supplement, as well as keeping my coffee and alcohol intake to a minimum. I will work on this plan and, HOPEFULLY I will begin to notice some positive changes in a couple weeks to a month. This has really been a nightmare, I'm a 45 y.o. man and I can't seem to do more than 30-60 minutes of physical labor without feeling EXTREMELY tired and so lightheaded that I feel like I'm about to faint. This is really having a major impact on my livelihood, my ability to earn an income and to form or maintain even the most limited of relationships. I've been in this hole for so long now and I pretty much avoid people and going into public now, because interacting with people and being in public environments wipes me out and feels like a sensory overload to me. Please wish me luck that doing some of these things can turn this around, even just a little bit. If anyone can offer any encouragement or further tips or advice, please feel free, I would appreciate it!

Cold showers Start with 5 seconds with the.soles of your feet and progress to 2 or 3 minutes over full body. Time it and you will feel a sense of accomplishment as you progress. Also breathing, check out Wim Hof as he combines both. The breathing is a great feeling and the showers will give you energy and focus. Meditation, start with two minutes, then three etc until you are doing 15 minutes morning and evening. Body is on your side so you be on its side. Also, you are the one enduring these debalitating symptoms so you owe it to yourself to alleviate and then eradicate them.

I had panic attacks that were caused by a food allergy. Panic attacks are super hard on your adrenals. I went off milk, which stopped the panic attacks, but my adrenals were pretty shot. I take adrenal cortex supplements every day--that's actual adrenal tissue from cows or pigs. They really help. The most obvious effect is to lower your anxiety level. Other supplements that help for that are B vitamins and DHEA.

"The adrenals make hormones, that hold minerals in the body. " This is, what my "CFS" was! I had adrenal fatigue, even my endocrinologist saw too low cortisol and too low ACTH. But he said, my adrenals still work so I should be fine. Yes, I was so "fine" I barely could walk or think. But I came to the conclusion that I had to do something. I made it finally! It was a long way, but the 2 things sleep and salt were most important for me in the process of healing. All my symptoms of CFS disappear now after and after and if my life was really stressful I feel pain and fatigue again, but never so hard like everyday then. I can't avoid all hard stress because my child is severely disabled, I have PTBS and things like that, but I seek all help I can! The thing with the minerals and hormones is a piece from this puzzle to me I thought of, but never could read anything about it. It is so good to hear that I am right and won't cut off my salt consumption as I have the feeling that I need it urgently! Thank you Dr. Sten Ekberg for helping us with this topic ❤️💐

Same here. My docs always come back and say my blood work looks fine and I feel like a 90 year old with dementia, on her death bed. I've been suffering with AF for 10 years and I'm only 39. I had a very traumatic life starting when I was a baby. Chronic stress and always in survival mode will definitely deplete your adrenals. It has gotten somewhat better because of my diet and light daily exercise but I still want to lay down 20 hours a day. But when I'm out of bed, I'm fairly productive. 🙂

@@technicaltriangles8496 I didn't take medicine out of a few weeks rhodiola. But rhodiola is just a small part, the main thing to change is lifestyle and way of thinking! You cannot go on living without eliminating what has caused your problems. But it's so very difficult to see what has caused it, perhaps the most difficult part. Just think of gaslighting, narcissistic abuse and things like that. Fatigue is way your body tells you that it's not normal to be treated like that!

This is a reply to a comment below: The medical disease paradigm is based on black and white. To them either a gland is working or it is broken, but they don't recognize the in between. In functional healthcare we recognize that a gland can work at 100% or 90 or 80 or etc. and many times the gland doesn't fit the medical model of broken until it is down around 20-30% function. This is merely a different view point. Do you want optimal health as opposed to merely avoiding disease? In functional health care partial dysfunction is present in virtually everyone. We find that a majority of people have a thyroid and adrenals that are out of balance. It is very real and all the mechanism are symptoms explained and mentioned in the video prove that it is so. Also it was a naturopath that came up with this term. I am not sure what happened to the comment, but here it is: GOING GONZO - KETO DIET commented: "I’m curious. Wasn’t adrenal fatigue made up by a chiropractor wanting to sell supplements. ?? I hear it’s as fabricated as Statins for Cholesterol."

Hi Dr Sten E, does a very high blood test of Kidney function imply Sympathetic dominance or working too much? I got that reply 1999 , but the health care station never said what it means and I have not got efficient, real help and communicated with for 37 years of illness.I think I have had Adrenal fatigue for 22 years, got late diagnoses (Ancholysing spondylitis and Aspergers after decades of suffering, and then still not real help, but abuse instead, to the point of being threatened to life. They broke down my health, energy, psyche, spirit, will to live during 11 years (or 37), taking my home, money to live on! and then my legal rights , reputation, without cause or lawful procedure, although the diagnosís was said to be opening doors after life-long living like under a sieve. The mysterious reasons must be the inconvenience of my childhood trauma, High sensitivity combined with life long stress , all chakras imbalanced, insomnia, indigestion, living in fear , unceratinty, unable to orientate myself in the situation, since the authorities kept me out., exisiting on flight, interrimistically, without a place to liveand can'ät plan , can'tseek more help, am too traumatized and needing communicative , emotional and practical assistence support , have no Dr help, catastrophic muth health since decade, can't go to USA Chiropractic before psychical health and practical, home, every-day life is stable, which it cannot be without help. My spiritual work is good but inefficient as they make new holes in my sinking boat, as i work at mending my own hole and emptying the water. I have studied and helped myself, but can't manage it all alone and too tired to remember, and get worse from the strain of re-learning. Life can't be all about surviving and just managing to keep ones head above the water, I have to get help to get on dry, safe land! Think fragmentary, don't manage to do all I have to , and can't be in isolation any longer! Do you know some Dr who can take on a good and resourceful but complex and precision-needing case, please? I just want my basic, specific needs met now, that I have been promised since 1997. It is urgent. I think i can heal or get better with individual stress treatment, and that the solution for me is really silly simple. I have been stuck in disease unnecessarily, I am sure, for 30 years. i was told I need spiritually developed therapists, which holds some truth. Thorough and knowledgeable. I should be so grateful for your benevolent reply. My Na/K ratio on HairMA was down to 0,5 2 years ago, Hopefully not even lower now; and can't just stay alive in terror, lost self confidence and isolation, waiting indefinitely all my life for sth that never seems to come without help to claim it. worse than a criminal in prison, they know why and for how long, haha. Want my life now! Might you mentor me in getting into right habits and getting some hope through a bit of brief but regular contact, please? Best greetings and thanks!

Also “normal” lab values are typically calculated as 2 standard deviations from the mean. This is a big problem for example in diabetes, the incidence of which has increased significantly in the past few decades (14% of Americans now T2D vs 1% 30 years ago). Fatty liver is common w diabetes so normal lab values based on the mean for liver enzymes have elevated commensurate with a more diabetic population culminating in new normals that are less healthy than our old normals. Normal does not mean optimal.

After a while when I started feeling better I went back to eating 2x a day, which is what I mostly do now as well. I couldn't fast for a long time, only now I'm getting back to it but not as extreme as before. And the other thing was REST, a lot of it. It was uncomfortable to just think of doing nothing because of the over exercising I did but my body needed it. Now, I'm trying to not do any extremes in any field. Adderall truly changed my life... But, my sleep schedule is all over the place, my sinuses and allergies are terrible, I have been vaping nicotine, consuming a lot of caffeine and my diet has been carbs and meat for as long as I can remember. I think my body is at the point where the slightest bit of stress wipes me out. I have told my wife that my body is telling me that I'm in terrible health. This is confirming that. Absolutely the best adrenal video on KZbin I've ever seen. So easy to understand and not too complicated. All those other videos about adrenals just whip my adrenals even more trying to understand them for hours on end. Thank you, kindly.

I have all the symptoms of cushings yet my cortisol levels have been normal whenever I have been tested. I only have one adrenal gland, it took 10 years for the profession to find out I had a pheochromocytoma which was removed. So I think I now am experiencing the long term damage from that. What really helps me is potassium, antihistamines, B vitamins and not denying myself sugar or salt when my body asks for them, but has to be in moderation. Also Daosin has been fantastic for stabilizing my mood and sleep pattern.

Thank you for this explanation. I have subscribed to your channel. One point though - why do you and channels like yours always recommend meditation, but do not recommend prayer? Genuine prayer is the most effective thing in the world. When people stopped praying, they had to spend years paying and talking to psychotherapists, and it was very often a waste of money.

Whatever you have taught in your video is one hundred percent true. But my Adrenal Fatigue happens when some people drain my energy. I have experienced this a thousand times, that in the presence of some energy vampires, my heartbeat gets faster immediately. One moment I will be peaceful and my heart rate is perfect and suddenly it fluctuates and gets fast and I start losing my energy and go to sleep. And it happens only when certain energy vampires around me.

Believe me, I know exactly what you’re talking about. I have Addison’s disease I am a sitting duck. It sucks hard to function to do anything. It affects the brain and your whole body spine back neck. It’s horrible now I got to learn how to deal with it and how to heal if there’s anyway, I’m not on any medication trying to eat right do what I can. I have to lay down to rest. I can’t function work like I used to that’s for sure.

I always thought low blood pressure was a good thing and occassional lightheadedness was just a minor side effect of a good thing. Linking this to adrenal fatigue is new to me. I have long assumed i had AF but didnt really know the details. Thank you for this enlightening talk!

It blows my mind how many people, particularly drs, think low blood pressure is great. I've literally fainted in office and they're like well your BP isn't high so you're good! It's a daily struggle to even stand up and I haven't been able to take a shower in 15 years. Every time I attempt I end up on the floor anyway so that's just where I stay these days lol
