Hey man I live in the keys and I am going to try to hunt a mackerel. However I am concerned about losing my speargun, can I safely spear one with a 50m reel on a rob Allen snapper 900 with an 80lb/38kg person (me) holding it? Thanks, sorry for such a direct question.

Without burly I usually spot a couple swimming by on my first dives. 3/5 times they give you this chance to have a good shot. If you shoot one and more are in the area they will check the shot one out. you can easily double up if your partner is ready.

We call them kings or king mackerel here. What we call Spanish mackerel are smaller and have spots. Great video
