Thanks so much, Christina! The new norm for everyone is 'busy'! Reducing stress is important for our quality of life. Mindfulness is a great technique to do just that ~ yoga is great too :) Was there a tip that you found most helpful?

I’ve noticed I’ve been getting bad energy from people at my job, I say things out of proportion, & have offended some of my colleague.. I understand I can’t satisfy everyone but glad I found this video so I can be more mindful what I say & do now in the work place! Cheers & Nameste

I love the idea of mindful walking....would love to do this outside now that the weather has warmed up a little. I used the mindful minute when I got to work because I was a little frazzled after spending an hour in traffic. It just seemed to bring a bit of calm after the chaos so I could engage in my work better. Thanks for the tips!

I actually do practice this. I think this is why I have such a high retention rate for my clients. I do need to practice mindful walking . I am rushing around trying to get point A to point B. Thank you for the great tips!!

I stop and breath when I get stressed out and then I sometimes have to start my day with a few minutes of shutting the door and just closing my eyes and meditating for 2 minutes, before the chaos starts...it helps soon much.

"it's a choice. You can choose to do it, you can choose not to do it." That's a completely redundant statement on a literal level. Everything is a choice. No, that's a way of saying "you will be judged if you don't do this, and otherwise sit down and shut up with your grievances, because this suggestion is the only thing I'm going to offer you."

This is such a great video and probably the best I've ever seen on mindfulness. I've since over the years really resonated with mindfulness and have incorporated aspects of it in my own client work. What I love about these tips is how simple and practical they are for a work environment. The tone, pace and warmth projected on this video made me feel like I could do this even if I've never heard of mindfulness. Keep up the great work😊

We are doing this in my workplace. Have mixed feelings. Feels great to be mindful also feels like it gives companies permission to add more work with no compensation.

Hi Noelle. I am a strong believer that mindfulness ought to be a choice. Companies can bring it to the organization or employees as another way to reduce stress and bring new technologies but it should never be used to increase productivity. I did data entry for years and became extremely disengaged and mentally dull despite believing that I could be mindful and concentrate on the tedious tasks and trying to. I actually think it gave me brain damage.

What if the company promotes (read: forces) mindfulness, but l don't want to do it?

Hey there, why is it that you don't want to try mindfulness at work? I often tell people that one of the beauties of life is that we all have choice. I would recommend trying to participate in mindfulness for a few weeks, and if you still feel you don't want to do it, that's your choice to make. I highly recommend giving it a try, though, because mindfulness can have huge benefits. Hope this answer was helpful and let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

@@AdrianaGirdler Thank you for the reply. My school introduced mindfulness a few years ago. I was on the core team. I didn't form an opinion on it until l had enough information, yet even from the beginning, the explanations were vague and 'wooly'. Almost all of the blogs l visited asked for money, and those promoting it make bank (Andy Puddicombe is worth £25 million). The vague mantras were repeated and the science was cherry picked. Furthermore, there have been instances where mindfulness brought on anxiety in people (l can add myself to that). It makes false or exaggerated claims. If mindfulness were a person, l'd want to punch it in its smug, sanctimonious face. It gives me anxiety where there was none before, yet l'm supposed to promote this to my students.

@@AdrianaGirdler Do you have an e-mail so l don't have to type on my phone? I've contacted Jon Kabat Zin - no response. I've contacted Headspace - 'We're very sorry you don't like our product...'. Contacted the Mindful Games author - send me a link to a book (yet to read). Contacted several other mindfulness advocates - no response.

@@AdrianaGirdler Thank you for responding. I wouldn't be so bold to claim l'd explored all avenues, but l've simply yet to find a tangible mindful reality that isn't just empty words. I want to learn, but people give up when l express doubts and they say, 'Just do it,' which isn't mindful at all.

What if you're naturally relaxed? What if your company forces you to do mindfulness? What if mindfulness gives you anxiety and want to punch things?

If a company practice mindfulness it is just a tool they are giving to their employees, but it should be up to you if you choose to practice it or not. Mindfulness should not create anxiety. This is a tool/technique that done correctly, helps one let go of things. If you are struggling with anxiety then it’s important to reach out to a professional for help. @@AdrianaGirdler Thanks for responding, but you've done what every mindfulness practitioner has so far done, namely, not listen to underatand. I'm forced to do this at work, and I can only say good things about it (forced), as if it's a cult. I have no choice to be there at the stupid, boring meetings with ipse dixit statements claiming to be fact. Mindfulness makes me want to punch things. More mindfulness is not going to lessen that. I. HATE. IT.

Wait a second, mindful interaction "so you don't become defensive" and "you realize it's not about you." Having appropriate personal boundaries is being "defensive"? Well, I guess you aren't rolling over and allowing corporations and their cultures to completely parasitize your mind and soul, so i guess that IS defensive!
