I haven’t watched the episode but I did see those two scenes and I love that Adrien is finally starting to realize how much Marinette means to him and Plagg is the voice of reason. It seems like when he was away with Lila, he began to miss Marinette and that he wouldn’t want a life where he never met her and it won’t be the same. While he was away, he realized how special she is and that he always wants her by his side. I like that Adrien didn’t say “she’s just a friend,” like he always does and it was Marinette who said it this time. It’s starting to reverse. I think Marinette would probably realize that nothing is ever going to happen between them and it’s time for her to move on but Alya will encourage her not to give up but she does anyway because it’s too painful. During this time, it’s when Adrien will finally realize that Marinette was never just a friend and she was always meant to be more. Adrien didn’t even say anything when he was called out by Plagg after getting off the phone with Marinette. When Plagg said if he keeps saying she’s just a friend, he’s fake pasteurized cheese, I was like “You tell him, Plagg.” He’s known Adrien’s feelings since the beginning. I think he’s the biggest shipper of all. Does anyone know where I can watch season 5 with subtitles? It’s so unfair that the new season always comes out in Brazil first and we’re stuck waiting for it to come out in the U.S. I don’t feel like waiting when we’re starting to see Adrien realize his feelings. 😍 I need to watch it now.

Personally, I'm convinced that for a long time now, he's been aware in the back of his mind that he's had romantic feelings for her. I don't think that "He's just now starting to realize his feelings for her." It's just that 1. His feelings for her have grown stronger overtime and 2. It's only now that he's allowing himself to be honest with himself (and others) about his feelings for her. I'm convinced that every time he said "She's just a friend" (with the exception of the first time when he said it to Plagg) he was not only saying that to others, he was telling himself as well. At that time it was because he didn't want to betray his feelings for Ladybug. That's why every time he suspects or finds out that Marinette is Ladybug, he looks so freaking happy because nothing would make him more happy than to find out that the two girls he cherishes more than anything are the same person ❤ Sure, someone could argue "If that were the case, why didn't he try to date Marinette instead of Kagami?" My theory is that it's because he basically wanted to experiment to see if he was capable of letting someone else into his heart besides Ladybug. Whether or not he consciously thought this, I think what went on in his head is "Marinette is too important to me. I don't want to hurt her if I can't give all my heart to her and risk losing her." I think he figured that if it didn't work out with Kagami, she would be able to handle it. Which of course wasn't fair to poor Kagami but he was right. But now he's starting to feel like he could give all of his heart to Marinette which is why he's now being more open about his feelings for her.

@@justafriend9859 Thank you 😊 And exactly! I mean sure, he did feel some attraction towards Kagami but I think deep down he knew that he didn't feel the same for her that he did feel about Marinette. Which is why he wasn't comfortable with kissing her and why it didn't hurt him too much when Kagami said she needed space from him for a while. (Granted focusing on his feelings for Ladybug at the time helped too)

Plus you can see that he wants to be close to Mari, the dances, the hugs and when he is cat noir, he trusted her and told her all his feeling for Ladybug. But she is such a nice person, and always help him and everyone else so so much that he cant see her more that he thinks she doesnt like him, she likes everyone. And dont forget that she always reminds him that they are only friends.

In Puppeteer 2 when she told him she didn't mean all that stuff she said when she thought she was talking to a wax statue of him, he seriously seemed so disappointed that it was "just a prank" Ughhhhh This is why I swear if the writers don't have Adrien and Marinette get together by at least the end of the series, I'm going to scream, swim across the ocean if I have to, and ring their necks demanding to know why. 🤣

I have literally been waiting for the reverse love square since forever!! However, I knew it was only going to come when they were both mature enough to put aside their instant affections (towards ladybug, and towards Adrien) and start paying more attention to their affections that grew over time (towards Marinette, and towards Cat Noir). Keep in mind though this doesn’t mean they’re going to treat these feelings the same way they did in the original love square. Marinette won’t stammer with Cat Noir, and Adrien won’t constantly profess his love for Marinette. All I’m saying is that I absolutely cannot wait for the Marichat scenes of season 5. They have always been able to be themselves in this corner of the square. But imagine what happens when they can be themselves with mutual attraction. They were never able to do that as Ladrien. They have so much more potential as Marichat!

he's realizing how he is feeling because he's kept his feelings in for so long, keeping it in for 4 seasons and since the show started in the first place in 2015 took a very significant toll upon him because Gabriel didn't want him to feel, to experience, to know beyond what he is told to do at the time he's told to do it Adrien is recognizing his feelings for Marinette now after Gabriel released him from the modeling career he had, it is up to Gabriel now to recognize in one of the intervening two seasons left but not both that Marinette is not detrimental to the Gabriel Agreste brand as depicted by Cat Blanc's events which no longer exist Marinette is his representation of an Emilie Agreste and the closest thing he has left to an Emilie Agreste, the girl has much of the same ambitions in fashion, the same drive to do well in fashion, a lot of the same moral values as Emilie did (the latter of whom is yet to be awake and that as well can happen in one of the intervening two seasons but not both dependent on how much of a time crunch they're on since 6 and 7 are currently going back to back) and that should drive Gabriel enough with his arc being up after this season anyway to want to accept his sons choice of a girlfriend when and if we get there be it this season or one of the intervening two seasons It took plagg motivating ladybug/marinette to value both Adrien and Cat Noir, I hope she learned something off him in the rare moment plagg became serious with his guardian when he needed to be serious
