Hello Doctor. I am 37 male. 2 months ago I was diagnosed with spondylolysis L4. Symptoms are buttock and lower back pain. Is it possible to completely heal from the spondylolysis L4 (stress fracture recovery) at my age by doing proper stretching and gaining abdominal muscles on daily basis?

If it is a stress fracture spondylolysis then it can heal. By age 37 it could be a nonunion which is unlikely to heal. Would need a CT scan. L4 spondylolysis is less likely to heal than an L5.

Pars defects can heal if they are acute fractures. A CT scan is usually done to check the healing potential and follow the healing. That is a good question. I may do a video on that topic. A young football lineman or a gymnast can fracture the pars and it can heal.

Would bracing be at all effective for a 23-year old with congenital Spondylolysis with G1 Spondylolisthesis? I wonder this since the fx is unable to heal on its own.

It's important to keep in mind that pars defects are not uncommon. About 6.6% of the general population has one. Most never have and never need surgery. Therapy, exercise, don't smoke and use good body mechanics. Most individuals with a pars defect and an episode/injury recover fully with rehab. A brace would rest the muscles and is the opposite of exercise.
