While separating the bible into verses was good for helping people to keep up with sermons and locate scriptures faster it hurts a lot of people when they do not read the entire chapter and want to take single verse out of context. One verse can easily be twisted if you do not read the entire chapter. Matthew 7:1 is often used to tell people not to Judge but the surrounding context clearly tell you not to be a hypocrite when judging

I too agree on the separation of chapters/verses. Matthew is actually in only 5 parts. Plus it really screws up a lot of Christians who quote a couple of verses but disregard whole books.

A woman was caught in the act of adultery and brought before Jesus. Instead of condemning her He told her to go her way and "sin no more". Even though the crowd wanted a stoning for her crime, none were found to be righteous enough to pass judgement. "I have not come to condemn the world, but to save it". Jesus will come one day to pour out His wrath on the wicked, but now we are under grace. God forgives every sin that you repent of and turn away from (blaspheming the Holy Spirit being the exception).

@@hollywoodelpaso1982 Only quoting what Jesus said in Matthew 12:22-32. We cannot go beyond scripture. Jesus said it so we have to believe it is so. If you read the passage you will see that if one is casting out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit as Jesus was and you say that they were casting them out by the power of Satan, then you are blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Not too many today are guilty of that, but the Pharisees were. To many misinterpret what blaspheming of the Holy Spirit means, but reading the whole passage in context explains it. 🤔

@@Cmedic57 so Hezekiah, Aaron, Ahab, and Solomon aren't scripture? What it's just a few verses in Mathew now? So the book of Isaiah can prophecy Jesus but not show how Hezekiah came back to God? So Elijah can literally not die but go to God in a flaming chariot but Ahab wasn't granted mercy after he repented? And Solomon could perform straight up apostasy and still be given mercy? I didn't go beyond the text. The Bible is the text.

@@hollywoodelpaso1982 The ones you spoke of never blasphemed the Holy Spirit which is only mentioned in the New Testament. Only the Pharisees did that when they accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan. You are comparing two different events that have no relation to each other my friend. These Old & New Testament events have no bearing on each other. The event mentioned in Matthew happened when Jesus cast out demons and was accused of casting them out by the power of Satan, blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which Jesus said would never be forgiven, so those Pharisees who did that ... will NEVER be forgiven according to God's own word.

God is not pleased with any sin. Adultery is sin. However, it is a forgivable sin just like the rest. Who the Son sets free is free indeed, so don’t understand why people insist in holding others under condemnation and guilt. That sin is forgiven for believers. The wife or husband you have right now is the one for you right now. 1 Corinthians 7:17-24 says to live as you are called (whatever state you’re in when God called you). We will never, ever, ever be made perfect in God’s law - this why Jesus sacrificed Himself to fulfill the law (which was a schoolmaster to show how sinful we all are) and reconcile us to the Father.

I didn't watch the video, but EVERY sin is forgiven, (if you are a child of God) except the unpardonable sin which is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. As far as adultery is concern, you must repent, and turn away from it, just like any other sin. A person cannot continually live in habitual sin and expect to enter the kingdom of God. It's disobedience to God. I Samuel 15:23 says - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.

The answer is 2 verses down brother. 11-12. --David Guzik gives a nice explanation of the passage. In short Jesus explains to the diciples this was not the way in the beginning of creation. The bible says there is only on sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. If a person murders someone, truly repents and gives themselves over to Christ, to no longer commit murder...they are still a murderer. The person killed is still dead. Why is a person that divorces for whatever the reason any different, if they've repented, remarry and live their lives for Christ? Is it not better to remarry than to remain in a situation most people cannot honestly live? Working things out with the former spouse may not be an option. For everyine that is so hard core about remarrying is unforgivable, could any of you live without the comanionship of the opposit sex? Thats not a gift everyone has or desires. If you do remarry, I'd I believe its best to repent and give your life over to Christ. Live your life for Him. Let your new marrige represent the learned lessons to not be repeated and libe your lives for Christ.

(Be sure to point out scripture) I’m pretty sure when He said “go and sin no more,” (pertaining to remarriage) - the sin no more in this case would be not to divorce and remarry again. Thoughts?

" He says about Israel in Isaiah "you were like a bride who married young, only to be rejected," speaking of Israel's sin in forsaking God. Jesus says "the kingdom of Heaven is like a man who prepared a wedding banquet for his son." Revelation the angel showed John the bride of Christ. It has deep meaning.

There is a certain depth to sexual sin that goes beyond other sins, as pointed out by Paul - it is sinning against your own body. And once a minister has committed such a sin, they can no longer be "blameless". The man sinned against, for example, will never truly get over it, and the stain of the sin remains in this life even after Divine forgiveness. So I would respectfully disagree, that such a person could re-enter a pulpit or pastoral ministry.

The Bible makes allowance for remarriage in cases of abandonment and if your spouse commits adultery on you. You are "free from the bonds" after that. A lot of translations mistranslate "putting away" (found in KJV) with "divorce" when the two are not synonymous. Deut 24:1 details the Jewish divorce process (remember, Jesus was a Jew so many of his frames of reference came from that culture/POV), and "putting away" denies the due process required in Deut 24:1. They'd send a woman away without giving her a "get" which is tantamount to today's divorce decree b/c he didn't want to pay her and her family money in the divorce settlement. This is why Malachi describe "putting away" as treacherous b/c it denies the woman a legal right to remarry, should the cause of divorce be a Biblical reason. So yes, if you are not officially divorced b/c you were "put away" or simply kicked out of your marital home, OF COURSE you're in adultery and cause the wife to be in adultery if she remarries b/c she was never divorced to begin with. You've also left her financially destitute. Marrying while merely "put away" is like remarrying while only separated. You are still married! I wish ppl researched the cultural context to have an accurate understanding of scripture. Just research Jewish divorce process and "putting away".

@@shalalala868 Jesus said in Matthew 5, you've heard it said that you can divorce and give a wife a certificate of divorce, but he changed what Moses permitted in Deuteronomy, by saying saying that He believes a person who marries a divorced woman commits adultery with her and that a man who divorces a woman except for fornication causes her to commit adultery. He is quite clear on remarriage. We dont know what Paul meant by "no longer bound" but we know what Jesus said.
