I went over my wedding budget by $25k and ended up paying $75k for a SF wedding. I didn’t even have everything I planned for but at the end, everyone who attended said they had a good time and that our wedding was amazing. Just know that money will come and go but the memories will stay with you for the rest of your life.

I noticed that sometimes I'm super productive and sometimes I'm really, really not. It is all cyclical and knowing that, I'm less hard on myself because I know that if my body is telling me to rest and not do anything today, then I should do that, and I'll get what needs to be done the next day or even the next week. I think this is partially down to hormones- apparently there are phases in the menstrual cycle where one is more energetic vs more sluggish, and also like hello we're humans and not robots and should not be expected to perform at 100%, 100% of the time. Working/"being productive"/adulting NEVER ends because of how we created this garbage society and we shouldn't let that get in the way of living and enjoying our lives cuz it's happening right now in all these little moments. You did great! Washing your hair, the dogs the sheets, mailing out the save the dates, cooking protein pancakes, being politically involved, working out, decluttering your closet, napping, wedding planning- these should ALL be counted as wins.

Aja - I sincerely appreciate the weekly vlogs, your honesty, and emotional vulnerability. Adulting, in my opinion, is the full-time job that no one tells you about when you are young and rushing to be grown. Take a deep breath, tell Popo to enjoy every aspect of the wedding/reception, and enjoy the process. You have worked so hard and helped so many people by sharing your journey. Perhaps thinking about the budget from a different perspective would help (i.e., cost per wear for apparel).

When you’re ready, I’d love for you to chat more about your “wishes I would’ve done differently,” during wedding planning. I’m always so curious! I personally have never been one to dream and fantasize about my wedding, and was able to execute a simple one for under $17,000 (which includes my culture’s “bride price” of $5,000). Granted it wasn’t my “dream wedding,” but I was absolutely content. Were you swayed by marketing? Instagrammable weddings? Ads? I have strong feelings about the wedding industry (certain aspects I don’t like) and would love to hear your perspective after yours!

A video on things that were expensive but honestly turned out great & made you happy in the end - like these things were actually worth the splurge. You are doing great Aja! I love watching all your financial videos...it has even inspired me to start saving for my own wedding even though I'm not getting married anytime soon. I've included a wedding section in my monthly budget to help myself prep for the future for when that happens.

I agree with the comments about having popo there being priceless. Wish I could have mine at my wedding day, but she is no longer with us. I know she’ll be smiling from above because she made a comment almost a decade ago that my fiancé (before when we were friends) was a good match for me. You’re a smart, hard working woman. My wedding is this weekend and there's a million things I could have done differently. I totally feel you there! I've chosen to forgive myself of any mistakes and laugh at the hilarious uber expensive photo-shoot I'm throwing for my family this weekend!! A wedding is always double what you think it's gonna cost as an event coordinator this is what i try to warn clients. There are so many costs you are unaware of if you arent use to planning events. This happened to me for my wedding too i was young and it was the first major event I planned myself. my budget doubled too don't feel bad it happens to almost every budget conscience bride. Your wedding will create priceless memories! Weddings are stressful and I'm sure your wedding budget planner on notion will help so many people be more realistic with the wedding costs and their budget

I recommend fasting until 1pm, only coffee fruits nuts before noon. Then eat once more before 7pm and get to bed before 11:30. Sounds crazy right but you wont feel sluggish.
