Nice job! That is enough to make a guy go cross-eyed.

Great video! You mentioned at 09:43 that you would "lift a leg" if the other components are causing interference, I'm guessing this means de-soldering one of the legs of the chip to cut the power to the rest of the board? Or does this mean something else? I'm new to this and this video has been a MASSIVE help, thank you so much!

Thanks so much for the kind words,I'm really glad the video has been helpful for you! When I mentioned "lifting a leg," I was referring to de-soldering one of the pins (or legs) of the chip. This allows you to isolate it from the rest of the circuit to see if it's causing any interference

In one of my euro classes the instructor said you can ground the crystal to keep it from powering on while reading a chip in circuit. However he didn’t explain how you ground it. Any tips?

I'm trying to read a eeprom on a 2006 chevy trk ecm and the numbers and letters on the chip don't help me identify the chip family. I think they are gm house numbers and they won't convert to industry standard numbers.

Does it matter which color you connect to each leg of the chip?
@globalcommerce7654 Жыл бұрын
No, colors are strictly for human understanding, electricity flows through copper cables (doesn't matter what color you paint that copper) not colored plastic.

U should never conect this when the chip is attached. U need to desolded and then u can extract firmware because it could be risky at least u know what u are doing.

Thanks for the comment, these are methods of reading in circuit. I actually feel its riskier pulling the chip. I've seen people damage board and chips with heat 100 times more than I have seen anyone damage something by reading in circuit. The risk of heat damage and ripping pads are extremely greater than damage done by reading in circuit. Hence I would reserve pulling the chip as a last method. Thanks for watching!

@@globalcommerce7654 yes, that could be tricky if u don't have a good machine. I could recomend Quick 861DW. it is not cheap but it is good machine. U will never regret.
