Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake Review - S1E5 - Destiny

We return to Farmworld 12 years into the future in the enthralling episode “Destiny.” Big Destiny has a family, with Little Destiny shaping up to be his successor, if not for her secret relationship with Jay, the son of a rugged Finn Mertens, who now takes care of his five children after his partner (which is practically confirmed to have been the Farmworld version of Huntress Wizard) had died. And Farmworld Jake is still alive, though super duper old. Simon, Cake, and Fionna bumble their way through this reality while the Scarab continues to chase them down, leading to a skull-crushing ending to episode 5 of Fionna & Cake.

I love how in our Ooo the Ice King is basically a non-threat to majority of the people within it. While Ice Finn in a normal world is treated like a boogeyman. Really shows just how dangerous Ooo really is compared to our world, if Simon's episode didn't already prove that lol.

Funny part is Ice King actually has some pretty op feats such as beating party god and being able to hold his own against Flame Princess the fire elemental. The guy is shown to be mountain level, by how he took over his entire home to use it as a mech. There have even been serval instances where he had Finn and Jake at his mercy and could’ve killed them. His only weakness seems to be his mental illness, where he’s basically a man child

I've seen a lot of people, on Finn's supposed death by scarab, say that they don't believe he's dead because: A) If he was, they probably would've shown the blood. B) Canonically, those animal hats are designed to protect against vampire bites, so they obviously do have some pretty strong resistance to piercing.

I've heard a theory that states that the litch bomb was SO powerful that it moved earth a little to the side, and another comet, that one was finn, was close enough to hit earth. But in farm world, the bomb didn't go off, so earth was never hit by the comet because it was too far for it to hit.

It wasn't the lich that caused magic in Ooo; it was the comet containing magic, which also caused the hole in Earth. We see this when farmworld marceline explains how the crown froze the world for hundreds of years, and you see the comet miss Earth because of this. Also, in one of the stakes episodes, two bread tom explains that they were fleeing to the islands because they detected something crazy dangerous was about to happen, being the comet containing magic.

The mushroom war bomb containing the lich turned the current non magic world into a magic one. Patience supports this. She claims in her flashback that the time she's from was a non magic world so their powers were limited. Also the hole in the earth was not caused by a comet, it was caused by the lich bomb

We don’t 100% know what Two Bread Tom was referring to when he said ‘something big.’ Most theorize that he was referring to the ice kingdom forming. Ice king is out there acting like a lunatic building his ice kingdom causing the environment to get colder which is why the Humans decide to leave the mainland. It adds up because it’s only a few years after Simon left Marcy and the fries incident, so he’s most likely gone total ice king. Some theorize that Two Bread Tom is referring to Darren. However, there isn’t much evidence for this theory other than the phrase ‘something big’ being the title of the episode Darren first appeared in. I really don’t think he was referring to the catalyst comet. We know the comet comes every one thousand years and by the time Two Bread Tom and the other humans are leaving it looks to only be 10-15 years after the comet hit/mushroom bomb exploded. It terms of what causes magic it really just depends on how you look at it. Bubblegum thinks that magic is just misunderstood science. Betty was working on her MMS theory, the idea that every magic user has a certain level of madness and sadness. The Enchiridion (the real one) states that magic is the work of ‘cosmic imagination’ meaning that magic only exists because people believe in it. (Which is also how the multiverse exists and is why the lich wants to destroy all life so the multiverse won’t exist)

I actually think that farmworld Finn not dying to Scarab is a lot more believable than Scarab killing farmworld Finn just because of Scarab's motivation. He's assumedly working for the same boss Prismo is working for so I doubt he would risk fucking up a timeline so much as to end someone's life. I actually caught another video the same day it uploaded! I’m on a roll! I really hope Finn is alive and we get to see him again. It would be nice to see Farmworld Finn open up to someone and for Simon needs someone who understands the crowns influence and what it’s like to be taken over like that and trying to move on from it. The way both Finn and Simon seem to constantly think about who they used to be 12 years earlier when they had the crown, the way they both seem disturbed and tempted to go back in some way, it’s much like how I think and feel about my past addiction. There seems to be some addictive qualities to the crowns power and they’d do well with support from each other I love all the stuff in the post-apocalyptic city, a lot of the stuff I was seeing very much had Fallout/Max Max vibes, I’m pretty sure those two franchises did actually provide some inspiration. And you know Fionna played Fallout games, though I think she went raider from her attitude here lol, I could see her being obsessed with the Nukacola World DLC I don’t believe Finn is dead, the show hasn’t exactly been shy about using blood where necessary and I feel like if he did die there would have been blood on his hat I can’t wait to see your video on the next episode because it’s my favourite so far, my fiancé and other partner and I have already added it to our list of videos to watch in December to hype us up for Christmas because of the episodes… everything Always loved your Adventure Time content dude, I’m so glad you decided to review the show as episodes come out, this has been so much fun and I am dreading the end of the series. I keep seeing people treating Jay and Bonnie's names like just coincidences, but if you look at Farmworld Jay and Bonnie next to Pillow World Jay and Bonnie they definitely seem to be more like alternate universe versions of each other in the same way as all the others with counterparts. I've seen some people speculating that the two blonde boys are supposed to represent Neptr and Stormo, which would be neat! Dunno about the redhead, but it leaves me conflicted. If Jay and Bonnie ARE counterparts to Pillow World's then would their mom being Huntress Wizard really make sense? Did Finn have a short lived relationship with a Rosalyn, but married and raised the kids with Huntress? I know realistically they probably all have the same mom but it's fun to think of alternatives.

Is it possible some of those kids might be adopted? Aside from Jay and Bonnie, the other kids could also represent other characters that were Finn's "kids" throughout the series. The kid with goggles is Neptr, and the other blonde kid is Stormo. Following this pattern t he kid with red hair is also probably a representation of a character we know from Ooo. One candidate that people have pointed out is the red Sea Lard that Finn wins from the potluck and takes back to the tree fort, which shows up in a few other episodes. He basically adopts it. At the beginning of the episode when Ice Finn attacks that couple with the baby, one of the parents had red hair. Perhaps the red haired kid was that baby, Finn feeling guilt for having killed his parents and adopting him. Another scene that stood out was the one where the Destiny gang leader's glasses get knocked off and he's revealed to have green eyes. It stayed on that shot for a few seconds and an odd amount of emphasis was placed on it, as it the writers wanted you to take note of that detail. With the Destiny gang leader having red hair and green eyes, is it possible there could be a connection between him and the red haired kid? At the very least it shows that red hair and green eyes is a fairly common trait among the people there in that world, and you can see quite a few background character with red hair. So it's not a trait unique to Farmworld HW, in which case it might not be as 100% certain that HW is the mom. It could just as easily be some other random redhead woman.

My most craziest theory: Finn's children are from all three of his.. prime? counterpart's love lifes points against this: Jay says "mom was cooking the day she died", implying only one mom.. but Finn reflecting upon a flame, as well as the red symbol on his flamethrower, (could just be generic fire warning symbol) indicates small traces of flame princess.. maybe.. the solemn look on his face when he puts gum in the soup, made me think on my first watch "did he.. date bonnie here?? that doesnt make sense thematically.." but since one of the children is named bonnie i figured he named it after her but i dunno HW makes the most sense -.-" still unsure what that gum bit means especially good review :)

I have discussed with some people about finn getting kill or not and it just seems a waste to me to assume he died. The impact he took was enough to crack the ground below him and the scarab's legs are sharp. The hood being designed to protect from vampires doesn't make sense in farmworld anyways given vampires likely spread in the same way through the world. (Although somehow marceline seems to be a vampire? she couldn't have gone hunting though because she was busy protecting simon). The biggest point I've seen towards suggesting that finn survived was the fact there was no blood or puncture marks in his hat but hat can easily be explained by the fact we only see the scarab's legs go in and not pull out, when the blood and such would start to pour. Assuming finn lives feels like it really discredits the ferocity of the scarab and his willingness to kill the person and the way the groups actions have dire effects on the worlds they visit. It takes away from the fact that the world isn't a video game they can run through and these are real people and it really cause damage for finn and his family.

In the original timeline it can be implied that Vampires could’ve been a product of the mushroom bomb going off. In farm world the bomb didn’t go off till way later and even after it went off its fully possible that Ice Finn and the Lich could’ve killed any possible vampire that could’ve emerged. On top of that the humans would’ve been safe since they were trapped in ice, preventing them from becoming Vampires.

Honestly, the ground getting cracked under the force was a point FOR Finn surviving that, since it showed the very pointy legs didn't just go right through his head, as they probably should have. If farmworld Finn is at all comparable to ooo Finn in physical resilience, he is fine.

It's clear that the Ice Crown is a very powerful relic. I just don't like that back when Simon was Ice King, sometimes his powers are portrayed as weak. Like, that time when Patience St Pim was introduced, he demonstrated his power by farting out a tiny ice from his finger.

4:39 , I keep telling people Sol Badguy is the cooler, more badass version of Ice King. Think about it, scientists that come from very distant times who sort of go insane and have magical powers, who sort of fight neutrally until the end of the series where they join the blonde swordsman who they keep fighting throughout the franchise's run. They also have love interests that dissapear for a lot of the series, come back and change into someone different. This one-off comment started a reaction in me lmao

Further evidence to support that HW was Finn's partner is that J wears her iconic cape. Some have mentioned his flute on the wall but he played it in the original farmworld episode so idk if that really counts.

I assumed Finns kids were all adopted… I thought they were trying to make the point that he faces his guilt as the snow man by adopting kids affected by his deeds and trying to be a good dad and a good person. I didn’t even think about the age, I just figured that he adopted them because that’s the kind of guy Finn is… he would never leave a child in need and he would help anyone he could, especially if it was his fault that they have no parents.
