Some thoughts on Lemonhope: Lemonhope having a hard time with the concept of sharing and such is indeed a "Lemon" trait, so to speak- It's been kind of a theme for the "Lemon" characters since "You Made Me", where the original black Lemongrab struggles with the fact that he understands that his mind is inherently different from everyone else's, but also finding himself unable to bear that loneliness (which leads to Bubblegum creating white Lemongrab, which escalates into the Lemongrabs creating the rest of the Lemon people) It should be noted that back in the day, several neurodivergent fans found Lemongrab's struggles to be relatable, and while it wasn't the express intent behind the characters, some writers would lean into this angle later on Lemonhope then is kinda the idea of a neurodivergent child who's seen as "gifted" because they excel in a specific field (music, in his case) and end up having very high expectations placed on them as a result It's an interesting story, like there is a degree of uncomfortableness to the way Lemonhope is treated, like he's "one of the good ones" among Lemons, but at the same time, it's not like everything Bubblegum wants to teach him is wrong either- I like the ultimate resolution for Lemonhope being that he's capable of doing "the right thing" without needing to fundamentally change who he is, he's still a "Lemon" and that's not a bad thing It's a follow-up to the theme of the two Lemongrabs themselves, who are genetically identical but have very different attitudes due to the way their lives have played out- showing that the actual evil of the black Lemongrab is *not* an inherent trait of theirs

The funny thing is that they've been way into a lot of the standalone episodes. Just a few weeks ago they were all agreeing that "Time Sandwich" was a contender for the best episode of the show. It's like there's a style of storytelling which millennials THINK is their favorite thing, where everything is all plot/lore/character development all the time, and while you can show them something more subtle and integrated like this, which takes time for whimsical digressions and drawn-out abstract jokes, and they'll love it for how expansive and real it feels, as soon as they get a whiff of that fanfic-esque highly-concentrated plotstravaganza style the addiction comes back, and they start complaining "Why can't it be like this all the time?! Why can't I get plot twists and lore dumps and emotional monologues all day every day?"

I think a very big factor in “Lemonhope” is being ostracized can lead to madness: Lemongrab became a tyrant, and Lemonhope almost burned to death in a desert. Lemonhope gets saved only for him to be treated as some higher being, as if his species or race or whatever are some horrible beasts and he’s an exception. I think this is some sort of grand lesson about trust, or manipulation, or consideration, or something. Princess Bubblegum went way, way too far saying “unacceptable” at Lemonhope…

Lemonhope returns home after a thousand years when everyone is dead and the candy kingdom is in ruins. Finn mourns the death of his hero at the hands of his demonic archenemy. Finn's cursed blade kills the evil spirit that has fed on his fear since childhood, prompting him to wonder how much control he really has. Finn learns that at least one of his human parents is still alive and he is thus not the last of his species. But you know, it would be nice if they didn't have to play up the "Kid's Show" stuff; it'd be so much cooler and more adult if it was on adult swim and they could, I dunno, bleep curse words instead of making them up or something.

And most of the folk who would swear and are old enough to remember the old ones(aside from Betty), are the type to censor themselves anyway. To me, it doesn't feel like censoring, and instead it just another way the world is different than the one we know

Gonna copy-paste a comment I made on the Adventure Time subreddit regarding PB being Phlannel Boxingday: All the clues point that he is indeed PB in disguise. But it's never stated outright, and I think that ambiguity is intentional. It could totally be her in disguise, but I think we'll never get a straight confirmation. I do like that the answer is in limbo to be honest. One of my arguments as to why he isn't Bonnie, is that I don't think she would instanly be able to do a 180 on how she mentors Lemonhope tbh. Her character development takes seasons, so I don't think a change of attitude that fast in her teaching could be possible for her in 2 episodes. My own headcanon is that Phlannel and Bonnie do contact each other from time to time, while he is out exploring the world. And that she probably calls him in the episode to ask for help with Lemonhope :P

Super agree with hman, my dude if the shows you mentioned could grow more organically with time. They are incredible, AT better than SU just saying, but if they are a 9 or 10/10, they could be more family friendly long form bar setting. kinda like how arcane set a bar for its ganre, AT is that but could easily have been even more.
