Why As An EXPERIENCED Rider, I Still Own A CRF250L..

After 3 long years of ownership, and many bikes later, why do I still own a CRF250L.. I've had everything from a DRZ400 to a CRF450L and yet the only bike that still remains is the trusty 250L. We have been through a lot and I have used this bike in almost every way possible, it's not particularly great at anything but why do I love it so much?

Most people forget the purpose of having a motorcycle is to have fun, save gas, and not spend much money on repairs and maintenance.

I LOVE this video! The 250L was my first “lightweight” dual sport. It’s taken me on lots of adventures and as you said, very low maintenance and parts are cheap. I actually sold it in November and recently bought it back. It will never leave again. It is just an excellent bike. Glad to see you got to enjoy being back on two wheels.

Last winter I decided to get a limited edition black crf250L and I was watching your videos all the time before I get to ride it, I love this bike a lot, I was able to get to all sorts of remote hidden trails that I just woudn't get to without it. I discovered beautiful lakes, trails and forests, and I also like the fact that it's a low maintenance bike, that the parts are cheaps and widely availible no matter where you are.🌲🌲🌲☕📻

100% agree. So relevant. I've had 15+ (mostly crazy) bikes and fractured my tibia plateau on a YZ125x nearly a year ago. My only bike now is my 2018 250L with some nice mods that I bought new and it is really all I need right now. Loving adv riding, exploring, and just enjoying how reliable and competent this bike is for the $$

Your enthusiasm for the CRF250L is infectious. 😎 So I ended up getting myself a 2018 edition and started thinking maybe I should have gone the drz400 or klx450. Anyway did a few mods including 13/42 sprocket change and am really enjoying just doing my thing on and off road. Your video has helped cement my decision to stick with the CRF250L. The price to fun ratio just can’t be beat. 😁

Insightful video. Thanks. I agree with you on the 250L. The mild manner and comfort is what makes the 250L very endearing. The 300 is really tugging at me. Your video also highlights why it's impossible to own just one bike for all the riding one does. I sold my 250L and got a wr250r, and eventually a 250 excf to do more aggressive off road ... the excf is not a lot of fun on a Sunday road and gravel ride ... just like the 250L is not great at funky single track.

First of your vids I've seen, good stuff, I've got the 300 rally, not so many trails or good weather days in the UK so it made sense to get something with a bit of fairing, my suspension will be sorted as soon as it turns up. 80 odd MPG (uk Gal) Thought I would miss the power, I did for a little while, now I just take the roads less taken and I absolutely love the little honda. Keep the CRF videos coming, it's great to watch you flying about.

All bikes are only as good as the riders skillset , like Ryan on Fortnine said put a set of off-road tyres on a Honda Goldwing and get it too the top of a mountain eventually.😂 I had a R9T that was unfortunately stolen so with some of the insurance money I’ve bought a CRF 250l , had one a few years back and regretted selling it. So I’ve just bought another . Front fork spring and oil upgrade , Acerbis plastic belly pan and frame protection and handguards and a YSS rear shock with some Renthal bars she’s ready to go . Still got rear rack and soft luggage from my old one , can’t wait to get out in the woods . It’s a good bike that with a few extras can be a great bike . Love it . Great vlog many blessings from the UK 😁🇬🇧🏍🦮

Hey great to see you back out on the little red piggy!! I swapped my 2017 CRF250L a few weeks ago. I put 11K miles of off road miles on her so I do have a soft spot for the 250L and always will. I swapped her for a 2003 RX250R, there are things I miss, like a battery, my heated grips in the sub zeros as I ride 90% of the time at night and fuel injection. But the XR is 40kg odd lighter, if she stays reliable I will be very happy as the XR is a hoot to ride. Biggest worry is that parts are not easy to come by in the UK> Stay safe and enjoy the summer yeah!!!

This week, I'm rebuilding my CRF230M with a high compression piston and some other goodies to get more life out of the machine I had since 2014. And after some serious consideration, I have decided to go out and spend my hard earned money on something else. Never thought I would be in the market to buy a pair of Crocs to go riding in.

I've rode several motorcycles all the way up to the 2014 1832cc valkyrie, I recently sold it and bought a 2017 Honda rebel 300cc, before that I traded a seadoo for a 2022 klr650 which I unfortunately hit a deer with and totalled, instead of going back with a klr650 I ended up getting a crf300l which is actually an awesome bike, I've had my fun with sport bikes and cruisers but I am so happy I picked up riding dual sports and the crf300l is an absolute unit of a bike, my wife rides the rebel 300cc which we have lifted and are soon to put fat tire knobbies on it, we plan on going on adventures together, best part is that both engines are the same.

If the CRF250L is a Miata it's an NC, 'cause the XT225 would be the NA and the XT250 would be an NB. And the WR250R would be the S2000! Just my opinion off the top of my head. Actually, a lot of good 250-350 bikes out there. And it looks like the manufacturers are settling on the 300cc bikes. For the shorter, less muscular, budget limited riders the discontinued XT225 and DR350 are great choices. And they're lighter than the golden child CRF25OL in this video. (Oops, didn't mean to poke you in the eye)

Honda is water cooled. Great for dogging down overgrown logging roads and trails

i bought a 2015 2 weeks ago with 18000 kms , possibly the best horse in the stable , it s light, well build and alive. what i like about the bike is it makes me a better and happy rider , just enjoying the ride for the pleasure and fun of motorbike experience . i was a hooligan and piloting the roads, tracks. i traded all of that for a great transport to go from A to B , while riding to Z , just because it will go. Great bike , great possibility, don t forget to stop and take a pix cause it will take you to those places. already 1200kms of, roads, dirt, sand, rocky hill and technical low speed roots, it did perform better than expected ,the bike has it s limitations, but i think that balance the whole package of this dual purpose machine. Nice one Honda , this bike fit perfectly in my lifestyle.

Last bike was a ktm 250xc I used for hard enduro training, before that a 450rx for harescrambles and many many more... been riding enduro most of my life with some motocross thrown in there. I'm legit shopping for a used 250L to go play in the woods with. Of course it's no competition bike. Like, not even close.. its slow, terrible suspension, under powered, heavy and small. That being said, I've never had as much fun on any of my race bikes and trails bikes as I've had tearing it up on a little 250cc dual sport. They're so fun and inexpensive! I love the fact of tractoring along, taking in the views and finding new trails and features to practice on. It makes the best "scope a spot" bike I can think of. I'm terribly excited to get on one again.

I love my 250L having come from bigger sports bikes. It’s fun as fuck if you live in a city and for casual fun off road it’s absolutely capable. I’m gonna be doing a load of camping trips with it this summer

Ive decided, when i can , ill get the 250 rally. At 90ish mpg, plus green laning when i want it seems the best deal. safe riding :-)

I have the same relationship with my XT250 Yamaha. Have an amazing Husky which is great, but I'm always putting more time on the xt. I'm only tempted to replace it now by the new crf300 & rally.

I do. 30 plus years riding. Blue light trained. Own a Ducati, HD and Tracer. And I also prefer the 250 over the 300 on the road but that has more to do with needing to pin it everywhere.

I own the same bike 2017, The only thing that requires an upgrade is the size of the tank. Other than that its a bullet proof bike. I bought it brand new on my local Honda dealer and so far it has not given me any trouble. Other that the normal maintenance : oil change, tires change. chain still in good condition just tighten it like twice. Change the oil filter every oil change and have change the air filter once. It has 35000 km so far . But honestly this bike is amazingly done eventhoug it was not made in japan it follows all of their standards. I still own it and wont sell it. Keep it for ever haha.

The 250l is my favorite dual sport. However I’ve been debating trading the r6 in on a 690r enduro. The r6 only got like 500miles last year. The 250l got 6k. And my taotao China dual sport got like 5k.
