Mari-Chu Coria of course you can absolutely my saying that I came up with myself is this cluttered house cluttered mind your soul and spirit will never be at peace or calm it will always be Reeling for thoughts faster than a locomotive as they say you will never be able to find anything at a moment's notice when somebody calls you to go out anywhere even to the grocery store you'll be looking for your house keys all day also if it's in your storage unit quote on quote you do not need it big. Big capital letters

Very inspiring! I have made many changes in my own life as due course for minimalism. My next step will be going homeless. To anyone who is on the fence or perhaps just scared (which is natural; I'm scared too!) of the consequences of minimizing their lives just know that it is a spiritual and truly liberating experience. You will begin to appreciate things on a much deeper level.

For me, it’s not time that I need to be happy. I’m happy when I am doing the things that are fun. Time for me has nothing to do with it. For me there is enough time in a day let alone a lifetime. It’s a matter of being grateful for what you do have and using that time wisely. God Bless us all 🥰😇

The one thing I have to comment on is that when minimalism leads to being reliant on other people's stuff (i.e. a "bum") it is no longer impressive to me. Minimalism should be self-reliant so that you are more empowered to contribute. If you throw everything away but then immediately are like, "Dude, can I borrow that?" then I think you have taken it too far. Ultimately what Marty is sharing here is great, I just wanted to make that observation.
@urvashisharma4254
@urvashisharma4254 6 жыл бұрын
I agree with your observation. I am slightly troubled by suggestion made in many minimalist talks and articles of staying and living at friends or families or generous strangers. Some how I feel that there is confusion over the definition of minimalism. To me it is about not accumulating too much. It is definitely not about becoming reliant on others and burdening them (can be felt as such). This talk seems to me more about a journey of not owning much and living humbly by depending on others, which in many cultures can be perceived as a journey of a monk. It does not to me talk about minimalism.
@johnmonk66
@johnmonk66 5 жыл бұрын
You don't know minimalists, you know cheapskates. I am a minimalist, I owe no one nothing, and I take nothing from everyone. I pay 2k in rent and live alone. Minimalism is so I can have what i want, if you do it to be cheap, you are cheap, end of story
@johnmonk66
@johnmonk66 5 жыл бұрын
@@urvashisharma4254 You are 100% correct. Minimalism is about having what YOU need, not saving every penny and stealing from others. I live in a luxes condo because I am a minimalist, i ask nothing from anyone, because real minimalist do it to be self reliant and happy, not to become misers and save every penny.
@RalphJBater
@RalphJBater 5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with the comments related to "exploiting" others, but borrowing can be a vital part to a minimalist life-style... if it is reciprocal... some things, like tools that are necessary only occasionally, can be better shared...
@76onaps
@76onaps 5 жыл бұрын
but dont we all rely on other peoples stuff regardless? we borrow from our friends and families regardless of our situation in life, but that doesnt mean we are "bums". this observation is totally irrelevant to the main message, it takes away from the positive message, i think the speaker deserves a better critique than this

Now I ve realized I was right all this time. Happiness is not something you have to aim for is about living it. Not caring about friends and ppl telling you aaa you don t have that, you re poor. Well I visited the entire world, let s see who s poor now? :))

WOW! It pays so much to declutter. My aunt lost an SD card with a bunch of old photos on it about 3 years ago. She was sad and kept asking us if we had it. I've been decluttering these past 4 days, and I got to my bins with some bags and a sheet in it. I took everything out and saw at the bottom a little SD card. I thought "Could it be?", and turned on my computer, plugged in the card, opened the folder and VOILA! I can't want to tell her!!

Kinda ironic. I came up with a saying a couple of years ago. ( The mare you can live without, the more you'll have ) I came up with this when I started to live well off and below my means. Get less, keep less, want less made me feel more free of burdens. I have more money less stress. I'm free ! Minimalism is the best redefinition of less is more.

Look at the material things you have and ask yourself..do I really need it? I've been a minimilist for 10 years renting with only the things I really need. It feels good. Example..I run everyday with the same apparel and trainers...wash it..go again. I love that gear and when I replace that shirt..it means sth. Get rid of that excess bagage..tomorrow is what matters.

As I age, I realize thought is regurgitated over and over, ad infinitum, till the end of time. Each young person says: “Eureka! I’ve figured it out”! You haven’t. I’m tired of listening to it. It’s boring. You aren’t the first. Your not the last. You’re not special. Get over it.
@sophieroome7
@sophieroome7 6 жыл бұрын
Of course, there is nothing new under the sun. But it isn’t boring or old hat to everyone. There’s a world of people struggling in our consumerist existence racking up credit card debt to keep up with the Joneses and wondering why they aren’t happy despite believing they have it all. Messages like this one change the world. It isn’t as rapid as I’d like, but “nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little”.
