"If you're not going to go now, when are you going?" Great advice. Wish I'd have listened when I was a young person... thankfully I know it's not too late. Bring on the adventure!

On your first point, I had an idea. Many young people have ideals but no money. Many older people have money but less time to do the things they wished they could. Nowadays I could afford the fantastic bass guitar which I couldn't when I was a young idealistic music student in 1999. But what's the point? I'm not going to form a band and start gigging. I should use my money to live vicariously through younger, more talented people. We could create a platform which matches young idealists with wealthy older dreamers. Do you wish you could have cycled the world at 20 years old? Get matched with a 20 year old with big dreams but a tight bank account. Do you wish you could have afforded art school at 18? Get matched with an 18 year old with a sketchbook full of art but no money for college.

Al your an inspiration. I just watched your series about busking across Spain. So inspirational and opens up opportunities mentally seeing how little is needed to have an epic adventure.

Much of this advice has applications broader than just adventures. But adventures are probably the best application :D Also, I love the background in these videos.

Wow your video answered some perfect questions and doubts I had. I am for the coming 5 months traveling in Canada, and from mid April till July I have nothing planned yet. I was thinking about doing a big adventure then, so this really helps!

Massive fan of your adventures, I'm 22 and from England - I'm currently living in Vancouver loving the local mountain biking scene here, couldn't be happier. Living my own adventures in the mountains. Once I'm bored of life here I will go and work in Australia, save up money, buy a bike and then cycle home to England. The only thing I don't have is a start date, however I know that will definitely come in good time. You are a huge inspiration, thank you so very much.

Listening to you, I started thinking of what my personal adventure might look like.... You brought me to the idea to make a CD of my own written music. This might not sound like a big adventure, but to it is. I'm 48 years old and I spent my life playing musicals. I've reached a point in my career, I can call it sucsessful, but still there is that big wish in me, wanting to fulfill my deepest wish since my childhood, making my own record. Thank you, for all your great advices and ideas helping me to find my personal Adventure!!! I will keep you updated and informed!

+SomethingSoOriginal Sadly, no. I did go on a 2-month ride from south of France to Morocco, just weeks after I posted this. I then visited the UN climate negotiations in Marrakech. Now, I have found an amazing job in my field. Life takes wild turns sometimes. I am already saving for my next adventure, where ever it will take me.

Nice! What's your job? Always cool to see when spontaneous travel experience leads to these opportunities :) I wish in a way i would be part of this power, whatever it is that brings people and their calling together, it just seems to have eluded me in all my travels.

I am 26 and have always dreamed of doing a big cycling trip, not necessarily around the world but something adventurous! I have a good job at the moment but I feel like I am getting older, I want to do this I know I will be filled with regret as an old man if I don't try.

Hi I'm really intrested in doing a long bike journey but I'm worried i'd get lonely. is it easy to meet people on bike journeys? is it something that comes naturally on adventures?
@al_humphreys

I think it's pretty normal to feel lonely and to worry about it. In some parts of the world it's really easy to meet people. This is a really useful form for picking up advice and other people to ride with: www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/on-your-bike Good luck!

I love this. You need to take all the negative things people say when you tell them what you are going to do. When I rode down the S. PCH everyone I told said I was crazy. Live your life, explore this great world we have and meet the people around it. www.BlameTheBiker.com
